the first time i heard free was in dowtown cleveland ouside a record store i think it was 1970...they were playing all right now over and over and all the kids were dancing in the street...i thought wow...what is this music..i gotta buy this album...i think they were a fantastic group and kossoff was a fantastic guitarist who was very underated in his days, (of coure you had page,hendrix,clapton etc) but i think he was a milestone guitarist ,his style woul be very imitated in the future...

Have listened to every different version i can find on here. Each one is unique, especially the "Live" ones like this one. Sweet stuff, awesome band, probably one of the strongest standing songs in Rock history. Thanks to all who posted them! Love how German TV would always impose the "trippy" visual effects. Way ahead of us. If we were lucky, we would get to see a band lip sync their song on American Bandstand...if we were lucky.

Paul Kossof is an amazing soloist in this tune; what a wierd tradedy that he electrocuted himself; that's Paul Rogers, of Bad Company, singing lead; the rest of the album that included this tune is as good (check out "Fire and Water")
