charlie chaplin i love your movies what a great comedian you did a good job when you marry the 18 year old because 18 years old is no more a child 18 is a woman so those who hate you are jelouse or they hate old men because when they see you with your young wife they remember an old man who once dare them in thier childhood ...rip charles
I forgot to mention it is performed by the Munich Symphony Orchestra with their conductor, Francis Shaw, who composed that arrangement. It is from the CD titled:
Charlie! Music from the Classic Films of Charlie Chaplin.
My favorite arrangement of Eternally was deleted by YouTube and I was sorry I only saved it in favorites rather than the actual video. Fortunately I was able to find the CD that version is from at Amazon.com. If anyone wants to hear it please e-mail me at AjiSabaki@hotmail.com
I confess this music has been the most memorable and beautiful tune I've ever heard and loved in a film. The film's name in Spanish was "Candilejas". I saw the movie when I was 20 y.o. in my home town (Maracaibo, Ven.), and I went to see it a second time just a few days after. It's not only melancholic air but a jewel of a music. Yes, Charlie wrote this from his soul...as "ancientone22" remarkably called it...
the timbre is wonderfull, today de musicists don't have feelings anymore. Today, every budy play like a fake plastic. I can't get bored listening this music, please forgive my english!
@Agasver79 Good day to all, yes it is a wounderful (the Best) interpretation of Chaplin Limelight, it s from Arve Tellefsen (Violin ) Album: intermezzo from Norway 1992. enjoy Agasver79
Does anybody know if this version of the theme is taken from the dvd or a cd? I have this exact version as an mp3-file, but I have never been able to figure out where it was from. I've seen many others version released on lp or cd, but not this one.
@mcnyregrus Good day to all, yes it is a wounderful (the Best) interpretation of Chaplin Limelight, it s from Arve Tellefsen (Violin ) Album: intermezzo from Norway 1992. enjoy mcnyregrus

@annawine85 Dear Anna, was so touched by your tribute to your mother Mather. My children, now grown up, call me Mather! Have never come across another mother called Mather, except my cat who is so loving and caring for all kittens and stray she adopts as her own, Mather says so much! Sure your mother is caring for you still, wishing you fond, loving memories! Beautiful song! Hugs and love BB x
a Big one. we all love Chaplin (from the last speech in Great Dictator to the performance with Keaton in Limelight, and what about the end of City Lights or the cabin scenes in Gold Rush, the machine-man in Modern Times, the angels-dream in The Kid). a real Big one.

I saw this movie on my very first date, in 1952...I was 15 and I took a 14-year-old girl named Kitty to see "Limelight." Always remembered the music.

Actually, it didn't beat the Godfather, as Godfather was disqualified. This won in 1972, it should have won the year of its release, 1952!
