According to the Wikipedia article on the Beetle, this final "vocho" proudly sits at the VW museum in Wolfsburg, Germany. It was an event the plant workers in Puebla and all of Mexico were rightfully proud of.

After 1973, production moved from Wolfsburg to Emden (it was a plant VW got along with its takeover of Audi in the mid-'60s). It was around January 1978 that the last German-made Beetle other than the Convertible left the Emden plant. The shift from Wolfsburg to Emden occurred because the Wolfsburg plant was retooled for production of the Golf (or as we call it, the Rabbit). The Convertible Beetle was made by Karmann, the last example leaving his factory in January 1980.
