  • heh, dalailama didnt get the joke :P

  • I'm a big fan of Herzog but I would hope that "your holiness" was sarcastic. The Dalai Lama is a marketing king with a twitter account, who also spews a lot of bullshit including a bit loved by superstitious christian idiots: "Love your enemies".

  • @AMpufnstuf Well observed; in fact Gyatso's bullshit or that, as big or even bigger, which surrounds him, even managed to put one over on none other than Sam Harris. I'm afraid that, though I share your hope for sarcasm here, its likelihood here is slim.

Perhaps we can find solace in that Herzog most likely is just using it as a stock salutation such as Your Excellency or Your Honor rather than attributing any holiness to the reincarnation of the manifestation of the monkey god.

  • @fctchk I agree, how/where did he fool Sam Harris though? Or you're referencing that Harris used to meditate with monks a decade or two ago? I think he was just trying to show respect for and learn from the less dangerous forms of feel-good bullshit. But I can't speak for him.

  • @AMpufn The Dalai Lama, (the tradition through which he attained his position), claims he is:

    1.holy

    2.reincarnated

3.descended from, and the earthly manifestation of, a monkey deity who sired the original Tibetans.

4.found with help of visions from a sacred lake guarded by a female spirit.

You'll never hear Harris call the Lama out on this BS i.e. he cuts him undeserved slack while knowing better i.e he got co opted into the same celebrity sycophancy

    as all other Lama lovers.

  • The DL is a socialist?

  • @nowaiii1 hahahahahah you sound so fucking ignorant it is hilarious

  • Nice interview, wise words

  • 0:42 Comedy gold

  • Last answer sounds totally like the goals of the venus project. I sure hope we get there some day. :)

  • The Dalai Lama is coming to speak at my university, as a guest lecturer, in 2 months time. I already have my tickets, I can't wait! Peace and Love

  • Can anyone please answer this question, I cannot find the answer anywhere...

Does Buddhism forbid Astral projection? is it demonic?

  • @websoull Well let's see, Astronomy is the science of outerspace while astrology is the mix of astronomy and sorcery therefore we arrive to the conclusion that anything astral does not derive from any benign source

  • @MasterChingon1 Can you please elaborate on your statement? Why did you come to this conclusion? Is there any evidence that astral projection is dangerous? Is this your personal opinion or is it in Buddhism teachings? thank you!

  • @websoull Buddhism has nothing to do with "astral projection." Buddha did not discuss such things, as they were not important. Buddhism is about ending the cycle of rebirth and it's causes. Whether or not astral projection exists, or is good, or bad...is irrelevant. (It should be noted that TIbetan "Buddhism" is hardly Buddhism at all, but more a combination of traditional Tibetan shamanistc beliefs, which adopted some Buddhist ideas, and combined them)

  • @therealsanjaypatel I heard this from other people as well. And I am having very hard time to understand as to why! Because Buddhists use Deity Yoga techniques to familiriaze themselves with after death process. Then why they don't use Astral Projection also for the same purpose? What meditation technique is superior to Astral Projection? My understanding, astral projection is the best practice of after death realms!

  • is that hunter s thompson?

  • asians always wearing gangster glasses

  • der lama spricht absichtlich china dialekt weil er das selber witzig findet

  • god hes lucky,Dalai Lama Got To Speak To Werner Herzog

  • le menteur

  • Watching this I realize that the 'greatness' of people like the Dalai Lama is pretty much entirely their position, influence and fame. Here the Dalai Lama displays the intelligence of a not particularly bright child.

  • @NihonjinBanzai i think it's quite obvious that he is not well versed in english and thus has problems articulating himself

  • @NihonjinBanzai He makes no claim to being well-versed in English. However, there is no doubt, imo, that he's brilliant. He's held to be more than just lucid in Tibetan. If you ever get to hear English interpretations of his teachings (not just public talks) you may be see how he can establish various views and provide explication of their hermaneutical and soteriological aspects. Then you might decide to inquire more deeply before you judge.

  • @NihonjinBanzai You can't fathom his greatness as you clearly do not know enough about his 'position'. And you are not so bright yourself if you judge a person based on a 1:24 min video.

  • @orangespoon101 I didn't judge only him. As I said, I was struck watching it that, through all I've seen, most people of his level of fame and influence consistently fail to publicly display notable intelligence (as opposed to Herzog). I understand Obama is widely considered one of the best U.S. presidential speakers. For a president? Certainly. For a person? Not particularly.

If people on this page are all nuts for the Dalai Lama, that's wonderful. In this video, though, he does not impress.

  • Would Herzog call the pope his holiness and listen to him? Buddhism is the poor mans Christianity.

  • @croscream That doesn't even make sense. Buddhism isn't dogma. No God is worshipped. You sound completely uneducated on the matter.

  • @smallcretzuli

You are the one who doesn't make sense: I havent mentioned dogma, nor God anymore. So you are making up a response.

  • @croscream: I am sure if John Paul II were still alive he would've for him...

  • @DChatc

Why specifically John Paul II and not the new pope? and what would he do for him. You use of the English language is terrible.

  • Is there more of this interview, really good stuff!

  • sounds like solipsism to me. i get it, but i wouldnt expect the dalai lama to subscribe to it

  • dalai lama is a pure pure lie, he worked with the CIA to keep his realm

  • The Dalai Lama is an emanation of the Buddha of Compassion and out of compassion, he has made Dorje Shugden the most well known Dharma Protector in the world!

  • I shouldn't tell my wife!!!!LMAO
