he resigned because his bishop is doing nothing and is totally passive his king is wide open blacks rook is right in the center ready to step in and back the queen and bishop and the knight is only one move from many attacking squares right near the white king where as the black king has defensive resources such as perpetual check and protections against cheap checks or mild traps
I thought this video was a great example of what it's like to play very aggressively and precisely and how sometimes how a loss of material can and is certainly compensated for, with the right play and strategy with gains in development, space and just superior piece placement. This is one of my favorite vids to date. A very exciting game! I'll bet it was great to watch as it played out live! Wow!
I dont know if Nakamura saw these lines or they came up just like that...cant belive such genius tactics......the usual trend after rook sac is to loose the game itself..but here the game starts after rook sac.....had it bee me...i wld have resigned after loosing so much material unless premeditated!!
yep, and it works for me. Like, Im playing a blitz game on chesscube and hear myself saying "if I can get my king to e4 my position would be kindoff tasty... Oh, he played qxd4, what a greedy greedy pig!" - the thing is that now Im subconsciously asking myself "what would Crusher do here?". It's amazing. Now I'm beating 1800+ players from time to time, and Im still improving. Thanks KC!
Was Beliavsky short on time by this point? Because the position is by no means lost. He could have obtained a draw or even a win if he found the right moves and Nakumura didn't.
Nice video! Naka is always fun to review. (It's funny that you wrote Nakamura's name correctly when you pasted the PGN, but not when you typed it into the title.)
nakamura played the great snake variation. m i rite?

Wooow...
Nakamura did SO good here!
So many material sacrifices for positional advantage, amazing amazing.
Remember, material is an important thing, but it isn't the only thing =P

After watching enough of his videos I start to analyze my chess positions in his voice, it's a bit strange..

This is starting to sound a bit worrying and wasn't intentional. I could try varying my tones a bit more perhaps...
