Help! I am following the instructions but when I run Redsn0w 0.9.6b5 with my iPhone 3GS with 4.2.1 it gets as far as Waiting for Reboot then hangs... it never reaches the part where it does stuff on the phone.

I have successfully unlocked my other two phones with newer IOS but this one (my husband's) has me beat!! I am on Windows 7 running in XP Compatibility mode as Administrator.

Redsnow comes up with error just After DFU mode. I have Install Cydia Ticked, and Upgrade Baseband IPAD, Running it on Win 7 Pro, in Compatibility mode Win XP (SP3) and as administrator.????

The Thing is Its already Jailbroken and has Cydia installed does this make any difference

@SN1P3M3 if it's already jailbroken then you should just install ultrasnow to unlock or if you need to switch to the ipad baseband i say save your shsh files and do a custom restore and do the process over again.

Well now redsnow version is rc15, when it got to the uploading ipad basebands, redsn0w straight up dissapeared. like exited itself. I dont know whats up with it..

@liyao1204 you won't be able to restore to 4.3 directly, you will have to restore to a custom firmware that will make it possible for you to downgrade your bb. there are ways to reverse the bb back to normal. however it is not so simple. I would suggest downgrading to 4.1 and preserving your baseband and then upgrading to a custom 4.2.1 firmware with the old bb. because it will be much easier and you will be able to restore to 4.3 in the future without any issues.

For this two jailbrakes i think we have to use this firmware (4.2.1_8C148)

because i am using iphone 3g with 4.2.1(8C148) and in my phone it was showing modem firmware 06.15.00.

@roshan0821 then it means you did it right so far if your iphone is on 06.15.00 then you have the ability to be unlocked, if you don't have cydia just do the process again and you should be fine

I did this and everything seems to have run smoothly except the cyndia application will not open. It is a blank white icon and when I touch it something flashes on the screen for less than a second and then nothing opens. Aside from that my phone seems the same as it ever was.

@kagfermaster put it in to dfu mode and then try to restore using itunes, if that doesn't work, use ireb or tinyumbrella. maybe your device is stuck in recovery. other than that I am not sure whats going on with your device.

DUDE tryed and it screwed my phone after jail break i opened cydia and it crashed booted it with Redsn0w like you said but all it did was crash and vibrate should i wait longer to turn it on, Im currently trying jailbreaking it again to see if it works
