looks cool but good grief that took a long time to close. I have a 96 convertible and i cont 12 seconds close time from open. this was 32 seconds!!!! Trust me your gonna be Drrrrrrenched!!! bout time that thing closes. Also i wonder what the weight difference will be. surely it will Have to be carbon fiber if not you can kiss a good bit of your performance goodbye.
@xevious2501 For what it is worth, you ought to be cruising top down, and hard tops are slower anyways... even 20 odd seconds is pretty quick for a hard top.
And a mustang is no fantastic performer anyways. Past that, the weight gain is only the weight of a heavy passenger, so nbd really since it is a 4 seat car.
@sheepborg The new Mustangs (2010 on handling, then 2011 for new engines) are actually pretty good performers. Even handling is pretty nice. If you are talking about 0-60, then it's very fast. I'm not sure what you are comparing it to.
@billecorgan Similar competitors on price point and size. I was talking that the handling (which is generally thought of for turning anyways) is not the greatest of all. It is no slouch, dont get me wrong, But it is no super sports car either
I was getting at though that 100lbs or so is a passenger weight and is not significant considering the car it is in. Maybe 100 makes a bigger deal in a miata, but certainly not a mustang.
@sheepborg I see. That makes sense. For some reason, I was thinking it was more like 300 lbs, but dang that would be heavy. I don't know what I was thinking. As for handling, I've heard that it is very good now. I seem to see conflicting reports. It used to be aweful though. Some car site was comparing it with a 370z on handling. I don't know though, I have driven several cars including a couple of 2011 Mustangs and they seemed to both feel heavy though I really liked them.
@billecorgan They are heavy feeling cars to drive, that is for sure. I have driven many a mustang too. But then, i drive a 68 charger on the weekends.. so the mustangs arent nothing for heavy feeling.
I have not driven a 370, but if they are anything like the 350, then they feel very little like the mustang in my opinion.
The mustang is great for what it is and at price point.
Also, i cannot imagine it to be more than 100 additional pounds to the already heavy 'vert, since the roof is so thin
its not an mustang anymore omg why would you do that
