Take the top off and hit it again. There would be nothing more than a crumpled mess. This doesn't show it's strength, it's just because air is fairly incompressible. Try this with any soda bottle. Same results. Good vid though :)

Those are just 2 liter soda blanks. I have a green one. They're pretty cool, but they've existed since the existence of 2 liter plastic bottles. They just decided to use it as a protective casing recently.

I went to a pepsi factory when I was a kid, and we watched them heat and mould them into 2 L bottles, and then on to the filling station. The whole class got one, I still have mine many, many years later......

if you want to get a cap with the seal, you can probably take an unopened coke bottle and cut the top of the bottle under the cap. then you may or may not be able to cut the bottle from the cap, if you want to go through the trouble. I would be glad to see a video on if you could do it and if it fit.

As has been said, these are known as "soda bottle preforms". Once heated and "inflated" they become 2 liter soda bottles. They can be bought for about .63 cents each. You can find them online @ stevespanglerscience (pack of 15 for 9.95) or teachersource (pack of 30 for 18.95) among others.

I ordered the same product myself. Very impressed. However one thing I was considering... since the cap is equivalent to a "pop bottle" cap. Wouldn't that be very "crushable". At the very least the weak link of the tube? Either way they are very cool.

I think these tubes are how 2 liter bottles are born. If I am not mistaken, these tubes are blown up like a balloon with highly compressed air, and voila! A 2 liter bottle.

Well what I have been using them for is to store my medicane in, I have some advid gel caps as well as cough medacine and allergy pills...all individually wrapped thoguh so they don't touch each other...that takes up the bottom space in the tube, on top of that I have a few cotton balls (keep them padded as well as used for good tinder...finally on top I keep some change, about 3 dollars in quaters...
