  • If someone can't tell this isn't Sega Genesis, or NES, they need their eyes fucking checked.

  • The green guys' names were Slick and Sam, BTW. ;)

  • e!?!

  • they need to go old school and remake the OLD games dammit!

  • I used to have erotic dreams about Q*Bert...does that make me gay? Not that there's anything wrong with that. I mean there's nothing wrong with boning Q*Bert...being gay is just evil....Just kidding...I'm not here to judge. I bet Q*Bert gives great nose. Can you tell I've had no sleep....Nightie Night.

  • like if dj Qbert brought you here

  • I had a different controller. It wrapped around your hand..had buttons for each finger and had a joystick on top.

  • The green guy's names are Sam&Slick acording to a book i used to have when i was a kid.

  • My Dad was a sailor, and was also a Christian. Mom said you could tell. Later he left the Navy to be a Baptist preacher.

  • @BigTex541 ?

  • What KPP said!

  • Instead of letting the the green character undo your cubes you can capture him!

  • One thing that always bothered me as a kid, in the level sequence, he never colored the last block....LOL

  • I love the 2600 version. So this one must be a masterpiece.

  • My God, I used to play hours on this...Must be then that I ruined my eyes.

  • So is Q*Bert just a giant "Q", or perhaps just a severe cocaine addict obsessively compulsively speedballing all of the fucking lights on in his apartment?

    =3

  • Nice review. You should do one for the NES version of Q*Bert. That one is really good. I played it a lot as a kid, back in the day.

  • can some one tell me how to chang the @%$& retarded controls so dawn only gows dawn not dawn left

  • @bland9876 I think I used to turn my controller upside down...although could be wrong but you could give it a try. Just been so many years since I've played.

  • Vectorman and sonic those are good games

  • GENESIS?????? How this game compare that the genesis games, sound and graphics???

  • first game system i ever played in my life, i swear those were the days

  • if u think about it,Q-Berk is very similar to pac-man!

  • @SmashBoy64 Not even close dude. That's like saying HALO and COD are similar

  • @sparkey989 think about it,

  • 1:08 WRONG. Well, definetly not on the Genesis.

  • 1:08 WRONG.

  • i have Q*Bert for game boy, it looks better

  • COLECO SUCKS! ATARI FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Strudel288 they both suck....SNES ALL THE WAY!!!!

  • lulz, i have the ps one version x3

  • ColecoVision was WAY superior to the Atari. The joysticks sucked though.

  • The best Q-bert game was the one on the Dreamcast which was also released later on the PC which was AWESOME! I had that game (for the PC) but then my grandmother ran it over with her chair. I miss that game soooooooooooooooooo bad. If you can get your hands on it GET IT Youll be glad you did. Trust me

  • get the green ball and freeze everyone!!!

  • This game rocked!!!! It was mesmerizing

  • I loved playing Q-bert on my Colecovision back in the 90's. I wished I could get a chance to play its sequel Q-bert's Qubes though. Thank you for bringing this memory back. :)

  • @culpit Q-Bert's Qubes? Why does that not sound right?

  • ColecoVision was far superior to the 2600 in the early 80s and many of us knew it. I wonder why Atari commanded the market during this time since most of their ports sucked big time.

  • @store275 Pitfall. Pitfall 2. Jungle Hunt. Maybe Tunnel Runner.

In other words 'Activision'. Or whatever it was called. Why was everything -vision?

  • Only a dumb person would be convinced this is a Genesis or even version.

Q*Bert does not even make a sound when he is shown cursing like on Intellivision.

The Colecovision Q*Bert is just a Tweaked Atari 2600 quality game. The Pigs don't make noise either like they do on Intellivision.

  • Wow ! looks like "Zoom" for the Genesis/Megadrive.

  • FAVORITE<333333333

    ~SeliendaSmiles~

  • an 80 year old woman is champion in Qbert ^^

  • The snakes, orange balls, and goblins jumping on the sides of the blocks I can understand, but that fucking little green jerkoff caused me the most headaches in this game.

  • I have both the ColecoVision version and the Atari 5200 version. The Coleco version is a bit better. Parker Brothers released some unique games, and did a great job.

  • i have the atari 7800 for qbert and this game rocks :-)

  • Tje green guy's name is Slick. In the arcade version, there were two of them, Sam and Slick. Slick wore sunglasses while Sam didn't. But in this version, its only Slick.

  • Nose looks like a boner xD

  • This version is better than the NES version. Seriously, the NES version is just too overdone, too "Nintendo," so you lose some of the nostalgia. I would rather play this one over any other home console version,

  • that looks like polygon graphics!

  • lol 'e!?!'

  • One Small Shortcoming, The Balls Don't Squish When They Bounce. The Sound Effects Are Substandard. The NES Version Was Much Better Even Though Its Sound Effects Were Also Substandard.

  • uummmm.......maybe some different wording on that first sentence

  • the colors, their awesomes

  • What a retarded game! I spent shitloads of my youth playing this! LOOOOVE it!!!!

  • Still remember i own this game on ps1 when i was a kid, good game.

  • I think the reviewer forgot that Q-Bert could touch anything that was green on the board. So the green guy is stopped by touching him. The green ball freezes all bad guys for a short period of time.

  • i allso want to rip the green guys legs off

  • The green guy is named slick and yes you can touch the green ball but I forget what it does, I think you can also jump on slick to stop him from changing your colour blocks without dieing to. I wish I still had my Coleco Vision and even my old NES to, Old games are the best!!

  • #*^%$ snakes !!!!

  • the green guys name is douchy the green peice of shit lol

  • The Green Guy Was Slick, And The Snake Was Coily.

  • There was another green one named Sam.

  • You know, you can whack the annoying green dude by jumping on him. Green = QBert can kill it.

  • I had that system and it kept me away from the Atari system.

  • Did you have the Atari expansion module thing?

  • I don't remember but I don't think so.

  • GET THE GREEN BALL!!!

  • This is gonna be sort of off topic. But Pac Man, and Q*Bert (along with all other games back then) had a Saturday Morning Cartoon. The Pac Man cartoons are now available for download on Xbox Live. I know, it's got nothing to do with Q*Bert . . but fans of this game still might be interested in the Pac Man cartoon. This review made me think of that just because it was all back around the same time / decade.

  • so if it works with the atari controller, does it work with the genesis controller?

  • yep

  • i have that for the 2600!!!!

  • Q*Bert 3 for SNES was fucking awesome!!

  • I used to have a Q-Bert game watch in German. Wish I still had that sucker. The coolest thing that ever existed was the Pac-Man game watch with joystick. Never had one and they aren't cheap now, running about $200

  • Type In Q*Bert Saturday Supercade to see the cartoon. Somebody used to have an episode online, but I think CBS had it taken down.

  • used to play it !

  • what does @^$&#* even mean? ah @^$&#* it!

  • $#%@!!!!!!!

  • Slick and Sam were he names of the green guys that mess up your hard work. I recommend running into them and they disappear. BTW, check out Qbert's Qubes if you like this gtame on Colecovision. Even better!!

  • True buickgod,

Slick and Sam were the names of the green guys. However, the Coleco version of this game only had Slick. Sam (the green guy with the sunglasses) never appeared in the Coleco version of the game. Actually, the Coleco version was very similar to the arcade version, and the only characters that were missing from the arcade version were Sam and Ugh.

  • Atari 2600 got Sam, and Coily. I don't think Ug and Wrongway were in it.

  • Parker Brothers did an excellent job with Qbert for the CV. The best control of any home port of Qbert (use an Atari 2600 joystick in port 1 with the CV controller in port 2 for best results). For those of us who grew up in the 80's this was awesome, and still is!

  • I was surprised that the Q-Bert character did not look better. Coleco made such great home versions.

  • Intellivision version was better because Q*Bert actually made sounds when he died that sounded totally different then the other game sounds so they sort of made it sound like he was actually saying something.

Colecovision was just a tweaked Atari 2600 it still had flicker problems and the control was slugish.

  • My TI-99/4a version was great; Q-bert had eyes, too, and the graphics and sounds were better.

Don't avoid that lil' green ball...that will freeze the action.

  • the commodore 64 version was even better than this version. :)

  • That's right, you just beat me to saying exactly the same thing! I had this on cart for the C64 and it was the best home version out of all of them.

The graphics are even better and the programmers made excellent use of the SID sound chip. You even hear a motif of the Tubular Bells song during bonuses. :)

  • You say:

"You can tell people that this is on the NES or SEGA Genesis..."

You mean "NES or SEGA Master System", right?

The SEGA Genesis is far superior to the NES.

  • if i had to listen to the noises in that game id kill myself

  • "...swears like a sailor" lol

  • I remember loving this game as a kid in the arcades in the early 80's...and being able to progress thru the levels with ease. When I try to play it now, I can't survive long enough to enjoy it. Great game, though.

  • I got first comment, by the way. ;D Yeeeeeeeeeaaahhhhh!

  • whats with the jazzy beginning nowadays

  • GO GALAXIAN BIOTCH

  • Can anybody tell me that song he plays before every review it sounds so cool ^_^

  • i swear to god i love you reviews thx

  • I was never a huge fan of Q*bert I played some computer arcade port and he actually said some crazy mumbo jumbo when he dies. This game is fun but I can't play it for too long.

  • He looks like an Octorock.

  • did i ever tell you this is my favorite video game review anything?!

  • I agree

  • e ! ? !

  • needs to come out in XBLA ASAP

  • Why don't you like Nintendo, InecomCompany? You're making me sad! Please, pet me, and give me a cat treat! :(

  • Family Guy:

Stewie: This is worse than being room mates with Q Bert:

    BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP

"If you leave all those lights on im not going to split the electric bill"

  • You can also use the SEGA Genesis controller on your Colecovision, but of course, you'll also run into the same keypad problem when starting the game.

  • *lmfao* The dreaded Green Guy Gawh!

  • Catching the green ball also freezes the enemies for a few seconds so they can't hurt you while you can keep hopping around.

  • Looks a lot like the arcade.

It must be really hard without a proper joystick

  • I'm pretty sure you can get the green guy that changes the tiles. What an ass!!!

  • Gotta love Q*BERT. ツ

  • How come some old arcade games are so highly revered throughout the years like this and defender.

But titles like Munch Mobile are virtually forgotten?

  • i have colecovision

meaning everything i see looks like an old videogame

  • cool video

  • I hated Q-Bert. I couldnt play it for shit - kept falling off the edge; the diagonals are a pain.

  • do a review on need fore speed or resident evil

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVED the ColecoVision. when I got it for my birthday many years ago, I was so excited. It was such much better than atari 2600 graphically. Q-bert was one of my favorite games.

  • i want ColecoVision

  • Quality-bert... lmao. :O

  • Awesome video man.

  • coolio

  • this is a fun little game. Too bad Sony owns the rights to Q-Bert now, b/c I would love to get this on XBOX Live.

  • i can get this on my next gen console ie ps3 but the 360 is good too i'm not a fanboy

  • Quality as always. I have this on Colecovision but man I agree I can't stand those controllers. Do you think Genesis or SMS controllers work?

  • genesis will work just fine

  • I love Q*Bert. One of my favorite arcade classics, next to Joust.

  • This game screams 1980s.

  • I loved this game on my TI99. No match for Hunt the Wumpus though :)

  • COOL

  • Great review. Q*Bert is an awesome game. But is it difficult to master.

  • The Colecovision port of Q*Bert is awesome but I enjoy the 2600 version better. I don't know why but I just find it to be more fun. Burgertime and Defender are my two favorite games for the Colecovision.

  • Just so you know Mark, anything that is green in Q*Bert is vulnerable...so the next time you play you CAN go ahead and rip Sam's legs off and stop him before he makes it to the bottom of the pyramid (and ruining more of your tiles). For that matter, I noticed you dodging the green orbs too. Grab those as well; they're good for points.

  • Plus they freeze the baddies for a few seconds, allowing Q*Bert to change more tiles without anyone chasing him. :)

  • You can only imagine what the little bastard is saying when he curses!

  • I love the Bert!

  • The green guy name was SAM. He was in the Q bert cartoon also.

  • My sister and I always just called him eraseaface.

  • fail...

  • You gotta love these morons who just write "fail" at the bottom of a video with no explanation or anything. Get a life man

  • i met to write this on some dudes comment saying cgr was gay .

  • Where Q stands for quality and Bert stands for........Bert. lol

  • haha I had soo much Q*Bert stuff besides just the game for Atari. Sadly that stuff is nowhere to be found. But I had a card game, joke books, coloring books etc. I might, might have the card game still.

Q*Bert rules!!! $^$@&*% You are right Colecovision is really impressive. Especially Frogger!!!!!

  • I use to love this game

  • awesome!

  • Dude, you could just use a Sega Genesis controller to play the Colecovision. Trust me, it's good.

  • also qbert was the first hard i game i played

  • you fail...twice

  • moron........

  • i never liked this game

  • Awesome review.
