India should try to improve fast bowlers at least srinath's speed. they should stop to produce medium pacers and part time spinners. they cant depend on part time spinners like suresh raina, pathan, rohit sharma, yuvraj singh in competitive turfs like perth, edgbaston.

Javagal Srinath bowled 144 Kmph in 2003 World cup; his last tournament. In 1999 World cup he was officially rated the second fastest bowler behind Shohaib Akthar and ahead of Mcgrath and DONALD! 156 kmph is a speculation but in 1999 WC his fastest was 149.6 Kmph (only Akthar Exceeded that; but he did it quite often). He was among the fastest in the mid 90's but that was when his injury aggravated.
It gives me great pleasure to see some bowlers bend their back try to bowl much quicker than the philosophy dictates it should be in India. Ishant is good at it, Sreesanth is also one when his head is screwed on properly, RP singh at his peak in the side wasn't bad either. One day India will have genuine paceman and they will demonstrate our desire to be the best that we can be in cricket.

Javagal Srinath in his younger days could bowl 150 plus, as did Ishant Sharma in his first season in Australia. Sreesanth is pretty good too. And Zaheer is one of the best in world cricket at the moment. In the end, it's India who won the world cup and is ranked number 1 in Tests. That's all that matters.

Yes srinath has bowled above 90+ & he was the fastest bowler in the indian cricket but due to his injury prone career he slowed down his bowling speed.

Even after that he has clocked over 145 kph. It is towards the end of his career that he couldn't even hit 140 kph. That though has to do with all those years of being overworked considering he was like the only Indian fast bowler. Srinath is definitely the fastest Indian bowler so far.

Srinath was better and perhaps faster than Klusener BUT certainly dont even come close to Donald or Wasim. They both were World class bowlers unlike srinath.

Javagal Srinath bowled 144 Kmph in 2003 World cup; his last tournament. In 1999 World cup he was officially rated the second fastest bowler behind Shohaib Akthar and ahead of Mcgrath and DONALD! 156 kmph is a speculation but in 1999 WC his fastest was 149.6 Kmph (only Akthar Exceeded that; but he did it quite often). He was among the fastest in the mid 90's but that was when his injury aggravated.

It gives me great pleasure to see some bowlers bend their back try to bowl much quicker than the philosophy dictates it should be in India. Ishant is good at it, Sreesanth is also one when his head is screwed on properly, RP singh at his peak in the side wasn't bad either. One day India will have genuine paceman and they will demonstrate our desire to be the best that we can be in cricket.

Javagal Srinath in his younger days could bowl 150 plus, as did Ishant Sharma in his first season in Australia. Sreesanth is pretty good too. And Zaheer is one of the best in world cricket at the moment. In the end, it's India who won the world cup and is ranked number 1 in Tests. That's all that matters.

I know 2 or 3 women (you read it right) who can physically break Mohammed Sami's or Ishant Sharma's or Bob Willis' backbone within 90 seconds. None of them can bowl 85-90 mph though! See the point?

@walE3dk No for real. He is like the only indian fast bowler who has bowled in the 150 kph range consistently. But I believe it was short lived because of his shoulder injury. Even after that he has clocked over 145 kph. It is towards the end of his career that he couldn't even hit 140 kph. That though has to do with all those years of being overworked considering he was like the only Indian fast bowler. Srinath is definitely the fastest Indian bowler so far.

Donald was aka White-lighting, and he was a good bowler. Srinath was an avg indian medium pacer and very very rarely looked quick, i am guessing. Srinath was better and perhaps faster than Klusener BUT certainly dont even come close to Donald or Wasim. They both were World class bowlers unlike srinath.

srinath was one of the best of his times... i remember his rivalry with sanath jayasuriya when jayasuriya was at his peak .. the only bowler who could always challenge his guts was this guy!!!

I think guys like Sreesanth should should stop dancing and learn from this guy,he is a true example of sheer hard work and dedication.easily the best bowler india had in the last two decades.

He was a genuine fast bowler. He outpaced Allan Donald in the 1996 series against South Africa. He bowled over 150kph at his peak. Even after his shoulder injury he was clocked over 90mph in the 1999 World Cup. It's a shame he never had a good bowling partner.

Javagal Srinath once admitted that he got the comb when he got bald, that means he learned the art of good bowling by the time he was about to retire. His stats do not do justice to what he could have achieved. He candidly admitted that entire his career barring last 2-3 years, he was bowling short and was never in control of length.
