  • You are an awesome guy for making these videos

  • Hey dude, many thanks for the vid.

Now I wonder if this tecnique will apply also to thicker acylic sheet.

I've seen some good works at ponoko and wanted to do some.

Want to know if professionals use the same tecnique.

    Hugs.

  • Hi, I love your work when it comes to those acrylic tanks. I might do one myself one day. Keep up the good work.

  • Can it be done with hot air solder or heating GUN?

  • @SajjadBro I did it with hair dryer and it bend, yesssssssssss.

  • its better to put it in the oven or use a heat gun

  • I'm looking for ideas to possible make my own lily pipes for my canister filter (5/8" tubing). Any tips for doing that?

  • @Nubster12 acrylic tubing, and a heat gun. Fill the tube up with sand, heat the tube up until you can bend it, then let it cool. The sand is needed so the pipe doesnt collapse on itself. You can also use pvc.

  • @uarujoey Thanks. I'll give it a shot.

  • will this same method work with acrylic plastic as well?

  • @MegaXAnimeXOpenings This was on acrylic. Acrylic is a plastic.

  • @uarujoey ah ok thanks

  • will it lose any of its strength this way?

  • @fishfreak95 Nope

  • you have lots of vids with acrtlic glass, what do you do with all this acrylic?

  • @turbotonic27 I show people how to build and work with it on YouTube.

  • @uarujoe , what do you do for living?

  • I did the same thing to make a bio pellet reactor, used aquarium glue to join both sides. did this after watching your video. thank you sir

  • DO NOT put cold water on it if its still hot. That will make it brittle and loose it's strength. Let it cool on its own. It will remain strong with out any cracking.

  • would doing this and make a aquarium out of it will be okay

  • @yumi35 No, this method is not a good way to bend acrylic for an actual aquarium.

  • Can I stick panels together by heating it to melting point and then stick it together?

  • @Threlaeburgh You could yes, but it wouldnt have any strength to it.

  • @Threlaeburgh There's an acrylic-solvent glue which is acrylic in a solvent that bonds the pieces together. You don't need heat for that, only for bending.

  • THANKS!

  • great vid-but you need a paint heat gun with a channel tip. works better. you wont get the bubbling. And also a sharp edge is better than wood.you can get a heat gun for 25.00 or less.

  • @hightekredneck50 Great idea... i'll be using a heat gun in an upcoming video!

  • hey ca u use a hair dryer and make a shop contor it has a curve

  • @THATSr1ghtS1R Yes, a blow dryer could work, but it would take a while. Better to use a heat gun if your going that route.

  • Use heatgun.

  • Thanks. Watching your how to build aquarium video now. Is there an EM plastics in the unites states ? Preferably west coast that you know of?

  • @blockhead413 No, unfortunately not..

  • You think the same would be possible for a 3/8" thick piece of acrylic? Also, what would you say the length of the bend could probably be without it cooling faster than you can heat it and bend.. I would imagine it would just take much more time to get it really soft

  • @blockhead413 You would have to use a heat gun for anything thicker...

  • Great vid! .... I usually have my air compressor close by and use it to cool it off a bit quicker. Thanks Joey! :o)

  • Very good, thanks

  • @nobodypersonsomeone No problem. Thanks for commenting!
