  • One thing I've read about the White Rose is a song they used, Die Gedanken Sind Frei, there are several versions posted on YouTube along with English translations. My favorite version is by Nena of 99 Luftballoons fame. It's worth a listen.

  • may they all rest in peace and never be forgotten

  • l popolomusica e immagini da brivdo, eccezionale,è vero "beato quel popolo che non ha bisogno di eroi"

  • These are truly beautiful people.

  • @christinepeace2 You are so right about this.... Deep respect

  • They will never be forgottten. Everlasting peace and honour to them.

  • Wherever you are be sure you all will never be forgotten in every place and moment in which mankind celebrates freedom. Thank you for your example and sacrifice!

  • Sophie scholl's name is extremely well-known in Germany.

  • I played Hans Scholl in The White Rose play in college. What a remarkable story, and what an incredible experience. We were able to meet Dr George Wittenstein, and hear him talk about his friends and his experiences during the War and the Resistance. Peace to all those with anger in their hearts. It was great to see these faces again after almost 18 years out of college.....

  • What Hitler felt and did to the Jews in the 1930's to the 1940's I hope we always remember especially today when Europe feels threatened by the rise in Muslim population. Why can't people of different races and faiths live side by side by admiring and respecting the best that the other has to offer?

  • @DeanVincentBarmby

That is an interesting observation from a Jewish person.

  • I just finished watching Sophie Scholl - The Final Days. Very amazing film. A true inspiration.

  • Never heard of this movement until today, casually stumbled on at youtube.

What a shame they didn't teached us at school...

I guess the teach us only what the governement want us to know

  • peace end revolution

  • Beautiful. What an inspiration. I think on these beautiful souls when I grow discouraged.

  • They made a movie about Sophie Scholl, she was very young and very brave.

  • @maddox1053 I have seen the film. Sophie Scholl and her team of the GERMAN ANTI-NAZI RESISTANCE are HEROES who deserve the ultimate honor and respect of anyone who deserves to be considered as a decent human being.

  • @theo9952 It was an emotional experience for me to watch the movie. They were shown going to the guillotine and not being afraid even then. They knew they would all immediately be reunited in heaven. I could not be that brave.

  • This was an awesome video. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Could you let me know the name of the piano music used from about 3.00 on - thanks very much

  • Victims of tirany...freedom of expression...evil people....... an one " leader " call Evil Hitler...and Nazi Party.... God bless all these young group who fight against mos evil of the world...

  • Tears....when is the next meeting?

  • This story has been shamesly covered in the "official history" that winners told worldwide after the war and in the 50's 60's and even 70's. Germans were despised entirely and as a people as evil, no trace of humanity in them. Its a shame how historians, holliwood movies, school teachers, have oblitered the sacrifice of "good germans" like the Scholls..

  • God must be proud to have you besides Him !

  • Such brave people

  • 68 years ago today since Sophie and others were beheaded at Stadelheim.

    Vergesst es nie - jamais.

  • excellent tribute video. I literally cried. The music and pictures fits so well. These people are my heroes. I am 21 just as Sophie was when she was executed and I can't imagine being in her brave position. Standing up for humanity and what was right during a time when the Nazi regime had complete power. I am from the United States and I would like to go to Munich one day to pay tribute to them. RIP to the true heroes of Germany!

  • in the midst of oppression true hero`s are born.

    Never forget.

  • traitors of the German people but heroes to the Allies. Regardless of that they did Germany got its ass kicked twice. WW1 and WW2

  • Why did they photoshop Christopher Probsts' photo? In 2:08 you see the lederhosen he was wearing but in the same photo at 2:11 the lederhosen has been removed. Too German for some? Historical accuracy is important. It doesn't detract from his bravery - in fact it makes it more humane and timely.

  • Thank you for posting this. I just watched the Sophie Scholl: The Final Days movie and I am absolutely in awe of how brave they were. They are such an inspiration! I didn't know about them when I created my youtube username but it has taken on a new meaning for me now that I know about the White Rose:) May their message of equality, ideals, compassion for others and bravery never be forgotten!!!

  • Trully Heros RIP

  • The White Rose is a BEAUTIFUL flower.

I will ALWAYS remember their Names and their sacrifice.

    Pride of Bavaria.Pride of Germany.

Their sacrifice was NOT in vain.

    PEACE.

  • These fine people are a true inspiration !!

  • I visit this tribute a couple times a year since it was originally posted. I am always so moved and feel so insignificant knowing what those young people in their time and place did.

  • Magnificent. We are so far from them; they are so far away. Yet they were so totally alive and present; so young and hopeful. As Sophie said, "it is grossly unfair to have to live in an age so filled with momentous events." You're right, Sophie. It was grossly unfair. But I can't thank you enough for your unfathomable, triumphant gift to us, from that terrible, momentous age!

  • so much respect for them!

  • They are true heroes. We had the privilege of visiting their graves at Perlach this summer. They must always be remembered. Thank you for posting this. It is very moving.

  • great video honoring brave die Weiße Rose with beautiful Edelweiß music. GBY & RIP. Thank you so much for making and sharing.

  • Amazing people..

  • GOD bless you Sophie and your comrades may light perpetual shine on you all forever

  • God Bless you all. You were soo brave to give up your lifes for the future of the world and your people. Such a loving bunch of people, for the good grace of the world and people under the brainwasing of the Nazism. Rest In Peace.

  • The Nazi's were a dirty bunch that basically murdered everything they came in contact with. I just read Sohie Scholl's Wikipedia page, it's pretty interesting. Sister Restituta was a Catholic nun murdered by the Nazi's. They told her to take down a crucifix at her hospital. She said something like, "I will put a crucifix up, but I will never take one down". She was executed also.

  • im an amature tag artist and i heard about the white rose now im doing resurch so i can include a white rose in my art

  • @poptat1 please don't impose that vandalism on us - just treat the White Rose with the total respect they deserve.

  • Very nice tribute.God bless The White Rose.Thank you Simplicit1.

  • Nice. Thanks for posting this homage. We owe them a lot of things.

  • This is one part of history I was never taught in school. I was taught Germany was an evil place filled with evil people during WW2. I did not realize there were ordinary German citizens who stood up to the Nazi regime. It was really interesting and sad to learn about the members of The White Rose who tried to bring light into a very dark time.

    22.02.2010

  • Many thanks for postiing!

  • deutschland, deine wahren helden

  • Thank you.

  • can evil win??? ....all it needs is for good men to do nothing

  • @russianglenda and for governments to ignore the wishes of the decent people it is supposed to represent.

  • what is the name of this song

  • Eidelwise

  • they have the same last name as me weird.

  • it is just ... beautiful ; it makes me very sad

  • nowadays we have a house for the youth in berlin, called "weisse rose", to remember the young people who wanted to live a free life

    this place is genius

it is for concerts, plays and so on

  • the tragic story of young ppl of White Rose group in natzi germany time is well known to Polish ppl here and we aware there were those in germany of hitler's regime who dared to give their lives bc they opposed the hatred of one nation against another.

their ideas shall never be forgotten, the Final Days feature film was made on the story of young brave Sophie, Willi, Hans, Christoph and Alex

their ideas are living in brave hearts of our times

    this video touched my heart

    krysana, Poland

  • May they Rest in Eternal peace^^

    White Rose, White freedom!!

  • A beautiful tribute.........thank you.

  • there are no words to describe how I feel, that at the time there were people who were human! is all I can say, and who don't hide behind the we didn't really know what was happening line, or it happened so gradually. All those people who tacitly participated with a regime which espoused hatred and racial superiority daily, and millions who justified it.

  • hermoso video un abrazo para ellos donde esten, que dios siempre ilumine por la paz

  • Always good to remember.

  • No words....... And we still doubt some times..... Acting up is powerfull. Thank you for posting. Music is awsome.

  • Long Live The White Rose! Long Live Freedom!

  • Wow, amazing the things you discover on YouTube! I never knew about these people until a friend sent me this link. Their story should be more widely known!

  • Where did you get the picture of Hans Leipelt? I have searched everywhere and this is the first one i have seen.

  • She knew the horrible risks, but took them anyway. Her work was not in vain at a time when no relief was in sight. RIP

  • Thank you so much for this.

  • Спасибо за память...

Vielen Dank! Schönes video! Find ich super, was du machst.

  • very respectful video

  • Thank you!

    Wonderful compiled

  • This was hard to watch. Disagreeing with the Nazi regime was a very dangerous thing to be doing. They say America is some kind of "regime", or whatever. I hear "Bush sucks!" everyday on the street, CNN, TBS, CNBC, New York Times, Washington Post, etc, etc. We don't care. We just say, yea Einsteins....you figure that out on your own? Loosing your head like these poor people in horrible!

  • all of the white rose, not just sophie. Its good see that so many other people stood up in the face of a dark chapter in human history, if only we could all know that courage.

to die with honor is to die with dignity (sp)

  • These folks should be canonized as saints....God bless their memory.

  • "Die Gedanken sind frei"

    "Thoughts are free"

  • Sophie Scholl was a kid with ideas. She didn't do anything to hurt anybody. The Nazis didn't like what she told people so they cut her head off! Nazi Mother fuckers! The fires in Hell aren't hot enough for those butchering savages!

  • true heros,we are proud of you.

    the white rose is unforgotten!!!

  • It is a treasure that we have these young people. There are always such people, they keep themselves awake when others fall into confuse, they torch a light in the darkest time, they believe in the final brightness and they fight for it.

  • I heard of these very brave people college students They kick ass much respect to them

  • Wie heist das Lied?

  • Danke. Es gibt zwei Lieder. Die erste ist die berühmte "Edelweiss" Melodie. Der zweite ist ein Jim Brickman Lied bekannt als "All I Ever Wanted". Alles Gute.

  • great job. touching music.

  • Came to this story late. Did`nt realise the heroism of these saints. All seemed so futile and small-and only now do I realise that that is the whole point! So brave and beautiful. Thank you for posting this.God Bless you and may God love them forever...I know that He does.

  • grazie a tutti voi, per il vostro sacrificio...che sia da esempio.Ho visto il film,e non ho fatto a meno di commuovermi...il vostro ricordo resterà indelebile per sempre...

  • What the fuck? You can't say that communism is worse than nazism. Communism can be a beautiful thing and nazism can never be anything but evil. Even when Stalin was in power it was not as bad as nazi germany.

  • Communism is nearly as bad as the National Socialism during the 3rd Reich.

Statistics show that the communism, since its first practical application, has wasted nearly 100.000.000 lives around the globe!

So you must admit that these are a lot more deaths than the Nazis have caused. One can seriously argue that, if it would have remaind, there would have been a lot more and that the communism did not commit an organized genocide, but you cannot claim, that communism is much better than the NS.

  • USSR wasn't after a particular race. But a Christian didn't stand a chance. 36 million people were murdered in the USSR basically because they were Christians. Many more millions were murdered because they were Jewish and many more millions because they were considered at odds with the regime. All told, in the USSR, Red China etc. about 100,000,000 people butched by these atheists.

  • ㅠ_ㅠ I will remeber them

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • Heros,true Heros forever!!!

  • Wonderful video. You expressed perfectly the purity, the beauty and the courage of White Rose's members. When I look at their faces and their smiles I cry and I think what extraordinary example they gave to all of us. Thank you.

  • what a strong women she must have been

  • good movie!

  • We love you Sophie.

  • R I P all....too bad not millions more in the white rose movement, to overthrow the Nazi regime and it's murderous henchmen.

  • rest in peace Sophie,we Love you

  • Deeply moving. I wept.
