Yes over time this would reduce the burden on tuition fees so that we're not paying through taxes, instead individuals will be paying through loans and it will be the future professionals who bare the burden (if they can afford it!).
@johnfox3 If tuition fees are set to rise so highly then one would assume that a profit could be made on each student, so why not have higher earners (i.e. those studying for a medical career) paying more than others such as teachers, nurses etc. Also, some degree courses such as history cost much less to provide, so why should these students also have to pay these revised fees?

@kitterik Fees are paid for though the tuition fees system, nobody pays a penny upfront. Under the new system there are more grants for lower income backgrounds - thus poorer students wil lbe better off than now.

@face999 the fees dont prevent anyone form affording a decent education, its all student debt which only has to be paid back when people earn of 20k. - Im surprised you dont know this. either way its debt, had it not been channeled though tuition fees it would be goverment debt instead which is unfair to taxpayers, particualy poorer members of socity who choose not to go to university.
