  • I wouldn't want to try it, but it may be possible. There are tons of songs that can be performed on diatonic button accordions that CANNOT be performed the same on piano accordions. You might be able to get close, but I doubt that one could exact the dissonances.

    Thanks, Karl

  • It sounds great. Could you play the same song with a piano accordion? I would like to learn how to play it but I have a piano accordion.

  • The Hohner Panther is not cheap... but it is inexpensive. I have had no trouble with mine for three years... I paid $300USD for mine, but that was three years ago. For more information:

    Music For All (DOT) Biz

Talk to Matt there and he will treat you right... tell him Karl from Bayern sent you.

    Thanks, Karl

  • thats badass

  • I wanna find a cheap accordion to broaden my instrument collection and do some funky covers as well...how much did this cost you at the time and what are the exact bass and treble notes?

  • That is GREAT sir I just bought me one and get it in a week....whats the name of that tune?

  • @eljessej : The name of the tune is Ozapfa: Bairisch for tapping a bier keg. You will love this instrument: it truly can do great things for the money. Thank you for your kind words.

  • This is some good stuff, bro.

  • Hi, Can you tell me what keys this accordion is in ??? You play so well... it must take years to play like that and a true love of music , I might add !!! I'm wanting to learn to play and have been looking at accordions. However, I'm really not for sure what key to buy. I love the sound of the one you are playing. Any information you may have may help me out. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. :)

  • Would I be able to use what I learn on this to play the Steirische Harmonika? Thanks.

  • this video did help me get my Hohner Panther.. thank you!

  • Hallo, I'm interested in getting one of these for learning to play Südtiroler volksmusik...Do you think it would work for that style of music? It's a $400 accordion, so I'd rather buy that than spend over 5000 euro on a Puschtra or Lanzinger. ;-) Thank you!

  • Fabuloso!

  • Jesus Christ that was freaking awesome. Not only does it seem hard to me to play the basses, but you freaking play fast pushing in and out.

  • hardcore. you rock man!

  • danke, man! danke!

  • este acordeon es bueno para vallenato?

  • Sí... muy agradable para el vallenato! Un instrumento bueno. ¡Gracias! Karl

  • @vallenato89 super bueno para vallenato el Hohnner panther es como el corona III

  • Dear @CONJUNTORON :

Thank you! I appreciate your words!

    Grüß, Karl

  • wow, for the tejano and norteno conjunto bands the bass lows are deleted in trade for quicker recovery when more air is needed, also they're not used in that type music...this man here is displaying great talent playing both ends of the accordion, great job!!

  • Hohner anti-German? Well they no longer make a steirische Harmonika. They show some Volksmusik artists on there website out of Germany, but you cannot buy a steirische Harmonika. Maybe they are not anti-German, but just anti-Bavarian and anti-Austrian???

  • Really.... how very interesting! I don't want anybody to get me wrong here: Hohner instruments are made very well and perform well; but, unfortunately, I have to agree that they are anti-German. Perhaps they are really run by non-Germans? I don't know. All I know is they don't like Germans.

  • the Hohner Panther sounds good, but never like a Corona II, but if a microphone is installed inside the accordion(right on top of the 2nd reed block) it sounds great and even picks up the bass reeds

  • well, duh! And the Corona above that and above that sounds even better..the more $ you spend, the better the instrument. I never said the Panther was anything but an economical, durable and reliable entry-level instrument... as far as mics being installed, what doof puts $550. mics into a $350. instrument? Auf geht's den Doffenland? Ja!! Two Sennheisers, one on the right and one on the left about three & ten inches will give you a great recording.. if you haven't got an HP v50 & a fuji finepix.

  • oh.............. grüß, karl

  • i am not convinced 100% that you are really playing that melody, one, the music is much more faster than your hands, and two, the in and out of the bellows don't match with the keyboard and your fingers.sounds like you are playing on top of a melody background.

it could be MAYBE a poor quality video, but i don't think so...if you can do that song

SLOWLY..PART BY PART..maybe you can convince me.....

  • missgeburt... you know, that is your prerogative!!! Since i wrote & composed the song, why should i not play it?!! this is shot on a fuji finepix by my frau. we don't own a camcorder, we put the $ in our instruments. you would do well to look up "die steirkraft musi" on the internet... this piece is nothing!!!... i could play you into the ground... as far as playing it slowly... it is a little like trying to play 1920's jazz/blues slowly... it cannot be done... you will lose the slurs etc....

  • ...i will tell you something else... i have written hohner in both the usa & in germany... in englisch and german.. about producing dvds that show people how to play their instruments, both the mexican polka style & the austro-bavarian volksmusik... they don't care for germans...they may be a german company, but they HATE their own blood!!! I have gained them thousands of sales frei-gratis, but they are into the hispanic market only since the 1990s.. they hate germans and will not accomadate!!

  • I was thinking about getting one of these if there is plenty of Bavarian, Austrian, and other Folk sheet music available for it? Would it be possible to get the sheet music for the song in this video?

  • Hello Steirkraftmusi,

I concider myself a novice player having recently purchasing a Hohner Corona II on Ebay.

I have currently self taught 4 songs off youtube by various members.

Would it be possible doing another video of you playing this tune... but slowly.

You're fingers are amazingly fast and I find it difficult to mimic what notes you are "playing".

If you do it would be very much appreciated by many players watching this video.

    Thank you in advance.

    Pullyourown.

  • Hermosa demostracion...felicidades y saludos.

  • is the Hohner HA-3100 a good accordeon to learn?

i want to be able to play norteno and im about to buy that hohner.

should i do it? i can't afford una gabannelli.

  • I think that the Hohner HA-3100 is an excellent accordeon to learn on... I bought one for my daughter. The HA-3100s are light, durable and sound extremely good. I tell folks all the time, I just don't see how you can go wrong... and by the way, the top-end Hohner's are just as good as the Gabannellis. The HA-3100 is excellent for Norteno and a great beginning accordeon.

    Thanks, Karl

  • es el mas confiable y barato, lo malo es qe al pisar los botones suenan mucho.

    saludos.

  • Well, on behalf of Germans and Mexicans everywhere, I thank you for your comment. However, what about the Austrians, Italians, Slovieniens, Swiss, Spanish, Dutch, Russians, Irish, English, Scotch, Cajuns and all the rest. If I could have 30 minutes with you, you would play the instrument. Then it is just practice... as far as being a mix, that is no matter... it is a matter of having someone to show you how. You are being too hard on yourself. Grias Di, Karl

  • The instrument transcends all racial boundaries and has continued to remain at the forefront of almost all ethnic musics. Grüß, Karl

  • That is INSANELY fantastic!!!!! WOW. I have the same instrument and can barely play the scales. I love my Panther as it is great for a beginner. Any chance you can have more videos for beginners? Thanks, Joe from Rochester NY

  • Thanks Joe!! I am trying to get some new ones up just after Christmas.... What I will try to do is to do some teaching ones... I use my own method which is actually a combination of the Austrian and Bavarian fingering styles. It is actually a little harder on this because of the lack of gleichtons. I sure appreciate your compliments!! Grüß, Karl

  • Absolutely INCREDIBLE playing! Bravo!

    Let's hear more!! :-)

  • Thank you very much for your compliment! I will do some more soon. Grüß, Karl

  • That was quite a demonstration. Fancy Fingers for sure.

    Bravo!!!

  • Thank you, Rhawneld57! Grüß, Karl

  • I am thinking of buying a panther I am a drummer and have a passion for the accordion is this a good buy for someone starting out?

  • I think it is a great buy & especially for a beginner. It's priced right, decent quality, and has a super nice tone. It is also light (around 8 lbs). The pros to a diatonic box for outweigh its one con: the keys it performs in are fixed: the one I'm playing in the vid is G-C-F (referring to the rows from bottom to top). The Panther is available in other keys as well. I prefer the diatonic button accordions (or Harmonikas) to all others. Any more questions, just email. Grüß Gott! Karl

  • Oh yea.

  • That was Brilliant! loved it! Five stars

  • Thank you, YTComphelper! I appreciate that!

    Grüß, Karl

  • Hey Karl im real happy with my Panther and I use it for Norteño music. I now want to upgrade too a Corona II Extreme or Corona III N. I wanted to askwhich one would you recomend me for Norteno music. I was thinking of the Corona II Extreme since its a little cheaper but Its a Tex mex but is it capable of playing Norteno music:___====???? Thanks. Erick,

  • Hey, Erick! As a general rule of thumb as a musician, you buy the best that you can afford. That said, all the Corona instruments are excellent. I would recommend the Corona II Xtreme of the Corona III V Xtreme... the III N is right in the middle. The Corona II Xtreme is going to do everything you want it to, especially stepping up from the Panther. The III V Xtreme has more bells and whistles... more different voices, etc. All Coronas are QUALITY from Trossingen, Germany. Thanks, Karl

  • Thanks Karl, just that the Cirina III V is for Vallenato music right? Im going for the Corona II Xtreme then. Ima be buying from Music for All Biz. Thanks alot Karl. Erick.

  • Thanks! Karl ... I think you'll find that Matt is great at taking care of his customers!

  • I like this instrument! You play it well with a nice 'happy' tune!

  • Thank you, HectorAwol!! This is the Hohner Panther... it is a dandy instrument! I appreciate the compliment... Thanks again, Karl

  • Awesome playing man! Hey how much a accordion like the one on the video cost?

    Thanks for posting your video.

  • Thanks very much for the compliment! This is the Hohner Panther that I am playing and it retails for around $400.00. Any Hohner dealer will have it or should be able to order it, however, you can get one from Music For All shipped right to your door for $400.00 with quality Hohner straps, a learning book etc. I bought mine there and the transaction was 100% pleasant. If you don't want to wait, try your local music stores to see if they are Hohner dealers. Need anything else, just email. Karl

  • What do you think about Hohner Corona III's?

  • I love them... especially the Corona III V Xtreme. Corona III's are top of the line professional on-stage performance accordions. I am not certain exactly if they are available with the Austro-Bavarian "gleichton" buttons or not... Thanks and Grüß, Karl

  • Fantastisch!

  • Vielen Dank!

  • Karl, Great song! It inspired me to buy this accordion. I'm now learning a very simplified version of this tune.

  • Karl: What a fun song! You're quite talented. When I was researching which type of accordion to buy, I found your video, and it convinced me to get this model. I'm now having fun with it and have even started a playing an extremely simplified version of this song. Thanks!

  • It is a fun song, but you are right... it is a tough one. I am happy that I was able to get you playing one of these... so many people would try, but the otherwise high cost turns them away... A great instrument to have and a good sounding one.

    Vielen dank, Karl

  • Great playing ! The Panther is probably the best "bang` for your buck" 3 row diatonic box. Thanks for posting this video.

  • You're Welcome mazzo99 and thank you for you compliment. Yes, I agree... for the money you just can't do any better. Definitely a real instrument and made very well too. Grüß, Karl

  • is that the hohner panther tex mex accordion?

  • Yes, this is the entry level Tex Mex Hohner... a dandy little instrument capable of great things. Thanks very much for your comment. Karl

  • is that the hohner panther tex mex accordion?

  • Spitze! Dickes Bussi, Britta

  • Ja, Britta... Danke.

  • That was coool. I own a panther also and it is great , I would also recommend it to anyone who wants to learn .

  • Is the Hohner a good Acordion for Norteño music? Im 16 from California and dont know if I should get this becuase im barely going to learn how to play. I dont want to spend $1000 on a Hohner Corona II, because I am not ready for an expensive acordion since I still dont know how to play. Is this my besy shot?

  • Saludo BIGAIRLIKE23... The Hohner Panther is great for Norteño music... it's fast and responsive and has a very nice tremolo. You will love the Panther as your first instrument. Differences: The Panther is made in China, the Corona in Germany... Two reeds VS. three reeds... but for the money you just can't lose. I deal with Matt Kerwin at Music For All out where you live... ask him to give you the best deal he can on a Panther and tell him Karl Schröder referred you. Good Luck! Grüß, Karl

  • Wow, thanks Karl. I guess im going with the Panther thanks to you and Ive heard that the Panther is very good for its price. Thanks alot, hope I learn and play really well. Saludos from California.

  • All it takes is the will to do it... you will love your Panther... another plus is that it is light and if you ever play a gig for several hours that can make a BIG difference. Let me know how you do, my favorite musics are Austro-Bavarian Volksmusik and Norteño. Saludos and Grüß Gott! Karl

  • Im sorry. I want to learn to play the Acordion. Im a Mexican-American 16year old and I want to know if this is a good acordion to play Norteño songs. Idont know if I should get this or the Corona II, but its about $600 more and since im inexperienced I think the panther is my best choice. Help me please.

  • See answer above... if there is anything at all that I can help you with in the future, please don't hesitate to ask.... Grüß, Karl

  • hallo schatz! echt respekt! extrem geils harmonika!!! dickes bussi, karin

  • Noch einmal... Dankscheen Karin!

  • Amazing! How can you keep track of where you have your hand with all those keys?

  • Thank you very much for your compliment !! Keeping track of where your hand and fingers are is pretty easy on the left bass side, but it takes some practice on the right hand treble side, once learned it is pretty instinctive so long as you are playing the same type of layout for that particular song. I am glad you enjoyed my performance! Thank you !! Grüß, Karl

  • thank you for that bit of info sir i wil look into a GARMOSHKA

  • You are entirely welcome!! Karl

  • hello would this accordion be good for playing those sad sounding russian folk songs in your oppinion as i am looking for an accordion that is cheap and would suit that style well. thank you. im looking to begin learing button accordion as it is an instrument that sounds as though it could start a party. i know nothing about accordions as i am primarily an extended range bassist but am lloking to open up to more classic instruments and styles of music. thanx in advance

  • I would say that this would be an excellent choice as a solid, good-sounding, inexpensive accordion. Not only is it easy to play, but it is a durable little beast! I have used this outside for a very long time and it is not to subject to weather changes. Russian Cosack & Gypsy music sounds great on this. BUT, remember that traditional Russian music is played usually on a GARMOSHKA ... I had one of these and it was fun to play, but twice as difficult as the Panther to learn. Grüß, Karl

  • Brilliant!! Sounds like Flaco Jimenez ;-)

  • Thank you!!! I have a long admiration for Flaco Jimenez and that makes your comment all the more special to me.

  • Fingerkünstler am Werk - sehr schön

    Gruß Thomas

  • Hallo Thomas... Ich danke Ihnen vielmals! Karl

  • omg thats amazingggggggg

  • Thank you very much for your kind comment edwzerpa!!! I appreciate it very much! Karl

  • very interesting. i'll check it out again.

  • Thank you very much!! 5 finger is usually played mainly in Bavaria and Tirol and is looked at in much of Austria as non-traditional. I can play both 5 finger and 4 finger... and there is a difference in the end result between the two... it really depends on what I am playing. Sometimes I will mix the two styles to give a rather hybrid result, pleasant I think. Again I would like to thank you for you comment. It is always very nice to hear from people.

    Karl

  • te salio knganas

    saludos

  • Very cool, Karl! You sure can get the music out!

  • Wow! Great! What is the name of this song?

  • Vielen Dank Karin! The name of the tune is Ozapfa. Karl
