Thanks. Actually, you are the first person to ask me that question.

In my opinion, I believe the style of animation goes hand-in-hand with conventional character types, plot development, etc. For example, South Park is meant to be ugly as episodes often contain mature content. In another case, you can clearly see the difference in accessibility between Dreamworks and Pixar movies; the latter is much more approachable because both the stories and animation are clean, smart, and unugly.
