stop comparring him with david phelps.... they are two different kind of voices...and wes hits a beautiful high F5 in "i'll singing with the saints" (at the end)
i have the brett Manning CD's (the singing success pack), as well as the Jesse Nemitz (high mix register) CD's. I sometimes feel discouraged because i work on my voice yet.. i cant find the blend.. is it a muscle training thing? or is it an "A-HA" moment where u find out how to blend the head voice and the chest voice? i feel so discouraged because i wish i can hit the mix register without breaking and to hit it with confidence and power.
I get so tired of Wes being compared to David Phelps and everyone saying how so much better David is. I'm a huge HUGE fan of both of them therefore I don't say that one's better than the other. Remember, David's major in college was in the music department which might help a little, don't ya think? Wes is talented, obviously, and so is David. They are their own people but people are going to like who they like. But it's in no one's absolute assurance that David is THE best.
david phelps may not be the best all around singer, but in my opinion (this is just my opinion, don't kill me), he has the best control of his registers and the most effortless high notes i've ever heard, including opera singers.
I've heard only few performances of both singers and I have to say David seems to have more power on very highchest/mixed notes,I mean his voice on those very high notes is just terrific.
@kghobbes "david phelps may not be the best all around singer" David Phelps is the best singer and he has great technique. I don't know what you are talking about! He is a great singer with that beautiful and passionate voice of his. I never heard someone that before.
@ThePianoguy89 I'm not bashing David, seriously. He is my FAVORITE singer, simply because he has such an emotional and powerful voice, but there are more technically skilled singers out there, trust me.
@kghobbes There is nothing wrong with his technique. He barely strains and his placement is flawless. He really knows how to belt in the mask too. He has that gorgeous and more rounded sound to his belts.
no it just means that he's 95% correct 5% incorrect. it's funny you mention cause right after that note he was like "oops I didn't get the right support for that note, for the record". I just put it in the vid because it sounds pretty dang good, don't you agree?
Hah, I've always loved Wes's voice and thought it was amazing. Who would've imagined that he was Brett's student. Hope that SS will show good results for all of us out there as well :D
Oh and Jesse, if you're reading this - you're an inspiration. I would never have believed that a 12 CD set could get your before voice into the voice it is now. I literally had a seizure when I heard the before and after clips. Good job man! I'll be working hard on my voice too ^^
No problem =D. Still working hard on it~ I've still got a lot of qualms with my voice but I suppose they will take time to fix and get right. I have to remember not to be impatient. Will you be posting any new songs up on your site? I'd really like to hear them ^^
do you have any advice for a 11year old girl im really into paramore n i just cant hit the high notes without straining do u have any great advice bout breathing n singing???? thanks:)
Hi, sorry i dont have any advice but i just wanted 2 say i love paramore nd i try 2 sing like Hayley but keep straining aswel. If i get n e info bout breathin n singin then i let u now :)
You should look into vocal coaches in your area. Lessons aren't as expensive as you would probably think, and if you depend on your parents to pay, maybe just ask for a month's worth, a lesson a week. If you can't financially continue after that, then at least you've got a nudge in the right direction.
Oh...Wes Hampton. Originally from a small little placed called Brownsville, TN. I graduated high school with him - he was a pal of mine. Absolute great guy.
nope I would cycle through the lessons and just because you suck at one exercise don't just keep doing that one CD. you might learn something on disc 7 that you never knew (like vowel narrowing) that would help you nail the mix on CD 5. So do a CD then move on the next day and cycle back if it gets WAY to hard.
another great tool for you would be to get a phone lesson to make sure you are on the right track. We don't always recommend WEEKLY lessons... but a one hour session to answer all those nagging questions and make sure you are GETTING IT is invaluable to your progress with the program.
yeah because i need good high notes every day.. I don't forget how to do it ever but it stays REALLY easy if I give it a go pretty much every day. If i stop for a couple days it gets harder at first to get back into the full high mix.
i bought the singing success cd program about a year ago and when i am faithful to doing the exercises i see some results but when i stop for awhile i find myself pushing instead of allowing when i sing.
I've watched quite a few of these and read a lot about Brett's techniques, and I am thinking about buying his program, but, I'm a little hesitant about something like this. Anyone who has tried it, your opinion would be most appreciated.
I have one thing to say : Buy this program If you wanna learn how to sing. It's simply amazing.
My old video's are still on and you'll hear I'm quite crappy, yet in a small month my range exploded and I can can sing through several hard parts, and each day gets beter!
Its hard for me to keep my larynx down a little....I feel like I need to push when I'm on the G above middle C....if I try to control it, I break into falsetto......
that's very common and we can help! you should give our staff a call and we'll consult you over the phone. visit the website for contact info plz. thanks music dude and goodluck.
Wes hampton has a really good tenor voice but not as good as david phelps in my opinion. Phelps high notes in oh holy night the high C# are floating and vibrant and in my opinion more of a fullvoice sound than all the pop singers I´ve heard.
You may have already found the song by now, but just in case I thought I'd tell you that it's on the Gaither Vocal Band project "Give It Away", both the CD and the DVD have it. Hope that helps!

of course! If you listen to his licks though, they aren't smoothly.. he uses a glottal strike to delineate notes, it's a shortcut to have licks but doesn't actually work that well. If you compare brian mcknight runs with phelps side by side you would hear the difference. Phelps has gotten more stylistic over the years definitely. i'm a big fan, but "best voice in the world"?... I think it's more accurate to say "my favorite" rather than objective "best". he used to be my favorite too :)
