  • The painn that must have went through the Phantoms heart :'( To let the love of your life go, it must have been the most difficult decision he has ever had to make. To all those people who say he didn't love Christine, and was just so called "obsessed and crazy". Put your selves in his shoes. In the case of the Phantom. "if you truly love her, you will let her go", the most beautiful movie i have seen, it was an honor to view it.

  • @TigressLion0330 umm i have watched the movie multiple times and know all the songs by heart and i agree that there are definitely some sexual elements to that song

  • @McDreamy1606 i absolutely agree. he doesn't really ever talk about anything to her other than her voice so that should be a clue as well.

  • I absolutely love this movie and I'm only 15 so far all this week I watched it over and over again. I know everything word for word!

  • The thing with Eric and Christine is that it isn't love, its primal attraction. Their drawn to each other, but not in the way that would be considered anything other than lust.

  • I think the phantom was very deep in love with Christine, or maybe it was an obsesion, the fact is that it is a really nice song so beautiful

  • Patrick Wilson is a good singer, but I think he should have harmonized with Rossum at the end, as it was done in the original Broadway show.

  • Raoul has lady hair... Phantom is swoll and scottish...

  • this is mine and my girlfriends song...she loves it!!!!

  • Gerard Butler is so great. i saw this set of interviews and behind the scenes stuff over on snapsnap and he just comes across so passionate and smart.

  • @Michaelscoolio would you mind sending me the links?? :D i'd be more than happy to watch them

  • i love the phantom

  • I'm gonna get hate for this, but whatever. To be honest, Gerard Butler messes this up. He played the Phantom really well, but he messed it up musically. Guy don't sing good enough to be Phantom, seriously. Its too rough to be gravelly, and not really gravelly to begin with. Sounds almost painful.

Patrick and Emmy are beautiful in this though. Patrick's voice is one of the best Raouls I've heard. Emmy sounds sweet too.

  • @esyphillis101 :O i couldn't disagree more! lol i absolutely love his voice. i think its perfect for this role :)

  • @esyphillis101 omg my Choir teacher said the same thing, and i totally agree,

  • omg omg the phantoms bit :'(

    I WILL LOVE YOU!!

  • i would have chose the phantom....

    i lik him better anyway

  • 6:55

  • @narutosfreakyfangirl

That is one damn good reason who to choose from.

And you just said it right!

letting go is the hardest to learn in this life!

    sigh :o(

  • Patrick Wilson is a bamf.

  • *end sean*

  • Rauls a fop. :)

  • though i would choose the phantom, he's sexy lol. thats why im glad im not in the story, or i would be doomed to mess up. : P

  • If you ask me, the best part of the song is when the Phantom sings

  • i don't think anyoneis arguing that both guys loved her, but the biggest thing here is: the phantom is pure awesomeness, with all that creepy, mysterious air about him. and raoul is . . . not.

  • @Neutomy LOL yeah. I'm a sixteen year old boy and LOVE this film and its music. It's so sad that the young people of today do not listen these beauties.

  • Even this fortitude of testosterone can't shield me from the tears from watching this film.

  • @Neutomy That seriously made me laugh my arse off. This comment just made my night!

  • i LOVE this movie~

  • ur all saying that she should've been with phantom, but she did not love him. she was meant to be with raoul, and he was who she loved. in the end, she realized the phantom's soul was corrupt. Phantom was about to kill raoul, and she hated that, because Raoul was who she loved. she wouldn't bee happy with phantom, and he would hate seeing her suffer. in the end, she kissed him to save raoul cuz she loved R. that's what made him let her go. cuz he knew she didn't love him.

  • the phantom is willing to do whatever for his love, even if it means letting christine and raoul go and letting christine be with raoul. when you love something let it go.. and thats exactly what he did. if i were christine, id have the phantom let raoul go and id be with the phantom, because he TRUELY loves her. for all we know, raoul could have a girlfriend in spain! i love the phantom. XD <3333

  • You were cursed the day you did not do all that the phantom asked of you -_-

  • I dont like Opera but I love this movie. Thier voices are incredible. There beutiful It makes me smile

  • I dont like Opera but I love this movie. Thier voices are incredible. There beutiful

  • I must go. they'll wonder where I am.

    GOD! I LOVE THAT LINE!!!

  • the Phantom is infatuated and obsessed with her. That's not love people

  • ...........Why does Raoul have to have such a nice voice?

  • How can 11 people dislike this video? This is clearly from the deluxe edition CD which is AMAZING

  • The Phantom loves her there is no doubt about that, that is why he could make the right choice to let her go. Christine has loved Roul since she was very small, they can have the dream life together, the life that will make Christine happy. Even if she could love the Phantom she would never be happy with the life he could provide for her. A life in darkness, and no matter what he is not willing to give that up because, lets face it, the Phantom is a bit crazy...he kills people!!!

  • me and the pahntom are alike at the moment of time.

  • I love at the end 'U will curse the day u did not do, all that the Phantom asked of you!'

  • I would choose Phantom anyday. i always think Christine is a bit of an idiot to let Phantom go like that, he's a one in a lifetime kinda guy.

  • if you love someone let them go, if they love you they'll come back

  • Could anybody suggest me another good movie like that to watch? I really enjoyed all the songs and their interpreters. Thanks in advance.

  • I am watching this movie for the first time in choir and we started it today and I already fell in love with it!

  • I think he fell in love with her voice, the way she fell in love with his. Obviously there are heavy sexual elements (Past the Point of No Return, anyone?) but they are drawn to each other because of music.

  • @McDreamy1606 Uhmmm... Have You Even Seen The Movie, Or At All Listened To The Songs ? If So, The Lyrics Maybe ? Past The Point Of No Return Is Not A Sexual Song At All. Sorry To Burst You're Bubble.

  • i don't think the phantom was interested in her sexually when she was 7--I think at first it was because he could certainly understand a child who was alone in the world, just as he had been. He heard her voice and could help her develop it as the Angel of Music her father promised to send her. ..Look at Charlotte church--she had a powerhouse voice early on.

it wasn't until she found out how easily he killed people he lost her. Rich, handsome man, or killer,

  • @TheWagbert

the relationship, the passion wassnt sexual until she was older. he was originally drawn to her voice, but she wasnt heard much on stage, and when he heard her (think of me), he knew what he had to do...

  • i freaking love the phantom! he's love was so pure after everything that he went through in his life. i really thought that the phantom and christine should have fallen for each other. i think it would be the perfect combo of light and dark. plus the phantom never knew what love was and for him to love her..i love him! hell if christine is gonna be like that..i'll take him!

  • i cry whenever it reaches the phantom's part ;___;

  • what you said! sob~

  • yadao19 ....... are you an IDIOT? if your gf/bf was a killer how would you feel?

  • @Nicoson

if i'd look into the eyes of my life-taking boyfriend, my heart would be full of regrets at first... but then, if his love is as strong as the Phantom's, I'd try to understand him, find the reason why he's doing this and lead him out of the darkness and into the light... slowly of course.

  • I have to admit I fell in love with the phantom also, his love and devotion was absolutely beautiful. I think he would stop killing if Christine asked him to. He didn't know any other way. He never understood compassion and love.

  • @ButterflyGoddess221

He cared for her so much, it's indescrible. He would do all he could to make Christine happy, if it meant he could be with her. The whole reason he let her go with Raoul at the end was because she kissed him, and no one else had ever done it before.

  • His own mother wouldn't kiss him. He even said so when he had just taken her down to his lair (after Point of No Return), "This face which earned, a mother's fear and loathing. A mask, my first, unfeeling scrap of clothing..."That is just so hard for me to even imagine. ♥

  • I love this song!

  • Love, Love, Love This.... Ahhhhhh

  • i would have chosen the phantom if i were christine... sure he may have been a mad person and... killed people... but he just wants to be loved and not be misjudged because of his face... besides, he was the one who created the opera house... he just needs guidance...

"masquerade! paper faces on parade; masquerade! hide your face so the world will never find you..."

  • I kind of agree but i think the phantom was being a bit selfish in the end because he says he loves her but if he really did he would just want her to be happy and he wouldn't have made her choose like he did.

Then Christine kisses him but she only does it because she feels sorry for him which is just evil cos she kisses him and then buggers off and leaves him and its not a nice thing to do.

  • the Phantom is old enough to be her dad, and from the first time she went there to studie dance (age 7 i believe) he has been sexualy obsessed with her. would you really pick someone who from the time you were 7 has been kreeping you and fantasizing about you?

  • In my case, that's called a dream come true. I'm a boy, though. If she had a phantom mask on, that could be hot I think. I'd love to be seduced by a mentor, that would be very hot.

  • there's a something about the song that will make u feel sad at the same ecstatic...

its about love and love alone

    very nice indeed

  • DON'T BE SAD GERALD BUTLER I STILL <3 U!! lol TEAM PHANTOM!!! haha thts my new thing instead of team jacob or team edward it's now team phantom and team raoul!! hehe!! I'M ON TEAM PHANTOM what are you guys on lol i'll start a new cult! haha!! I <3 this movie!!!!! :)

  • THE PHANTOM4 EVER

  • Hello! Here we are again, enjoying bits-and-pieces of The Phantom of the Opera. Received film version plus bonus and CD. How many times must one play these until some level of FULL is reached? NEVER - some kind of addictive drug - loving it !!! Finally getting into Gerard Butler as The Phantom - excellent contrast with Raoul - have grown to like his unique accent, speech/singing style. Still love Ramin dearly - play "Within the Six Square Inch" CD lots - favorite tune: 'New York State of Mind'.

  • Lmao. I have a crush on Patrick Wilson in this movie. When he almost died I cried in our choir class when I saw it. And I cried when he went with Christine. I was so jealous. They sound so great!(: I love this song. And them!(:

  • You found Raoul more appealing than the Phantom?

  • Yes, I do. I don't know why. Yes the Phantom is romantic. But I mean, I don't know. I just love Raoul.

  • that's what i thought!

  • I'm with you. Patrick Wilson is very appealing; he has a smooth, gentle, tenor voice. You really wouldn't want a total DRIP playing Raoul - otherwise there wouldn't be much of a contest - the love triangle needs to be strong so that Christine's choice is a difficult one. Recently saw Patrick in "Passengers" strange ghostly drama.

  • I like this ending. It's more realistic. If she went with the Phantom, I would've been happier but less satisfied, in a way. Just imagine what you would do if you were in her position: Go with Roul and have a happy, innocent love, without any darkness or reminders of cruelty. OR go with the Phantom and stay hidden from the world, have a passionate love, but a constant reminder of bitterness. It's a really hard decision, but I would've chosen Roul too. 3rd POV & 1st POV has dif. results.

  • I really wish there was another ending to the movie...like when she came back to give him the ring she came back to stay instead and sent pretty boy on his way... but oh well...

  • I love them both...

And whenever I listen to this song it makes me all fuzzy inside ^.^

And then the phantom comes out (who always kinda scared me)

    But when he starts crying/singing...

It makes me want to yell at christine to go w/ the phantom!

  • I think the difference (in the movie) between Roul and the Phantom's love for her is that Roul loved her enough to die for her. The Phantom loved her enough to let her go (without killing Roul- no matter how tempting it was). Therefor if I were to pick one of them based on who loved me more I would choose the Phantom. Because dying is easy, letting go is hard.

  • You cannot close the acorn once the oak begins to grow, and you cannot close your heart to what it fears and needs to know; that the hardest part of love is letting go

  • @narutosfreakyfangirl you are tottaly right. : )

  • @narutosfreakyfangirl this comment is very true and wise <3 also it proves you can judge a book by it's cover, or a person by their username, because i know that like i, you may be judged by having an anime/otaku username C: you're very right. (i would choose the phantom too..)

  • @animegirl062006 would u choose a PORNO?

  • @oldschoolqueen lol wtf how does that question make any sense at all?

  • @oldschoolqueen lol wtf how does that question make any sense at all?

  • @narutosfreakyfangirl Very well put. I concur!

  • @narutosfreakyfangirl dying is not easy, maybe not as difficult as losing love. If this were dying for a cause like freedom, you would consider it the ultimate sacrifice.

  • @narutosfreakyfangirl I understand what you are trying to say, the phantom did have a heart of gold. but you must realize that to love someone so much and to be able to die for them is NOT AN EASY SACRIFICE. Ask your boyfriend if he'd die for you, I doubt he would actually do it. Raoul would, so the man truly loves Christine!

  • @leadershipcouncil

I was not saying that it was an easy choice, I am just saying that it is easier to die than let go of something you truly love. Raoul stated that he would rather him die than see her go with another man. As for the whole boyfriend thing I can't say- haven't looked for or had one.

  • @narutosfreakyfangirl im so with youu there. I got so sad when she didnt stay with him

  • @narutosfreakyfangirl Good point

  • @narutosfreakyfangirl I can't even praise you enough for that freakingly accurate speech. For what it's worth though, very very well said.

  • Haha, no she didn't make a mistake picking Raoul.

Would you want to live underground for the rest of your life?

And the Phantom was infatuated with her, it wasn't love. She was scared of him!

  • You suck dude. How could no one want to not pick Eric?Though Roul's cute, he's a bloody fop he is!!!!Nothing more than a pretty boy who live off his fortune he is!!!Atleast Eric knows how cruel the world can be!!

  • some might argue that there is no difference between love & infatuation:) that they are kinda one & the same to a certain extent!

  • Except the Phantom had lived enough life and seen and participated in enough theater to know what was true and what was facsimile.

  • So true! She started to have feelings for him when he took her with him to his 'house', but then she fainted when she saw the doll that looked exactly like her... So I think he had hypnotized her with his voice...

I understand his feelings, though, especially when he's singing, my heart breaks....but if I was in Christine's shoes, I would def not choose the Phantom...he's kinda creepy, watching her through her mirror...

  • omg soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon lovely...i love singing this song, hehe i can hit all her notes^^

  • this is so beautiful, i watched this film from the first time 2 days ago, & ive already seen it 4 times, i love it :) x

  • man, she made a horrible mistake choosing raoul....

  • @Streynoch She so did, I think he's a loser. He's too goody-goody.

  • @Streynoch I agree...Raoul is just a pretty rich boy...you need more in a relationship....Phantom makes her shiver everytime he touches her. With Raoul that never happens

  • @Streynoch i she did make a bad chose chosing raoul then the phantom!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Streynoch

I don't believe she "chose" him. She loved him. As amazing as the Phantom was, and as much as he loved her, she loved Raoul, not the Phantom. If she had chosen the Phantom it would have been out of either fear for Raoul or pity.

  • @nekonekogami Totally right. The whole point of the story was that the Phantom had to let go his anger and jealousy and self-pity and realize that if he really cared about Christine he wouldn't be hurting her like he was. It was never about Christine choosing between him and Raoul.

  • @nekonekogami it was love for Raoul, and obssession lust and pity for the phantom, sometimes it's hard to distinguish the diffrences in each sensation and emotion. i adore this movie and im 16 years old, and a girl though, i do agree with mikewill9511, the youth of today dont know what they are missing, there minds are a jumbled mess of stereotypes.

  • @frozenheartsmelt15 Yes The Children Today, Such As Ourselves, Are Embedded Into Thinking That It Is More Important To Listen To Rappers And Such, What Most Of Us Do Not Understand Is That There Is Much More Enchanting Music Such As This Wonderful Love Movie. A Serenading Man With An Obsessive Love, Childhood Sweethearts, And A Choice That Changes Their Lives Forever. A Pity Some People Can't See Things Like That.

  • @cutebunny1399 RAP SUCKS! This freking movie is awsome!

  • She has an amazing voice. I try to find people on youtube playing her duet, it it sounds nothing like hers!!

  • unrequited love is a bitch!

  • I so agree people make it look so easy

  • i feel for anyone who tries to do this movie after this one. It's totally impossible. Love this movie. Got to see it in IMAX when it came out. Totally amazing!

  • the orchestrra sounds so pretty :)

    love this movie<3

  • You're right

you're getting the feeling to dance. But i think to dat she made a realy big mistake choosing raoul

(sorry for my bad eglisch, i'm from a different country)

  • This song will forever be in my heart...

  • essa musica é muito linda...

  • Romantic verse...let me be shelter, let me be your light...

  • gerards part in this was beautiful powerful and emotive all in one

  • pwn

  • this song always makes me cry coz i imagine someday, someone that i will truly love will sing this song for me

  • me llega al alma...

  • ngi mo a nyong

  • i love this song

  • I have a book of songs from this movie on my cell. It doesn't have the actual instrumentals, just the tune of the vocals.

  • Shimmy, If you love him you need to tell him. I was once in this same place and I waited to long to tell her and the moment passed, and now it is my one regret. Even if he doesnt feel the same at least you will know, and if he does than it can be something wonderful. Good luck and trust in your heart.

  • it's true i was with someone e split about 11 years ago now we have met again & i told her i still love her & we are getting back together

  • one of my guy friends and I song this together for the talent show...it was pretty romantic...but the sad thing is that I like him more then a friend...but he doesn't know...and I dont think he likes me more then a friend....What do i do to tell him????Wahhhh!!!!! :(

  • ...personal opinion: it depends on how well you know each other and how he is likely to react - it could ruin the friendship or make it stronger or he might even feel the same way...best to test the waters but more importantly, before you decide - lots of prayer!!! Proverbs 3:5-6. I hope it all works out for you =)

  • Just go for it. In the words of Alfred Tennyson, 'tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all.' As seriousvideofreak says, love is dangerous. it can ruin a good friendship, but it can create an even better one. You just have to take a gamble.

  • It is better to regret what you have done than to regret what you never did.

  • This is the saddest part for me, because despite how obsessive the phantom was, he loved Christine enough to kill for her. Call me crazy, but that is sexy! lol

  • i cant play some of the the songs from the soundtrack on the violin but some notes are to high nd idk wat notes they are.. but i do love this movie

  • It was such a sad ending. :(

You know, I wish I could sing to this song since it's so beautiful, but my voice can't go that high, unfortunately. Hahaha. :P

  • I looove this movie, with all my soul..

  • My favorite piece in this movie! You've gotta love it!

  • omG

    i'd never watched this before!

    but i love it!!

  • you've never seen this movie?!?!

oh gosh, you're missing out on an amazing movie. RENT IT! RENT IT NOW!! haha.

  • I would pick Gerard Butler ANYDAY! hahah.

  • I agree. XDDDD Damn, he was spankin' HOTT in the Don Juan opera at the end. hahaha.

  • I love this movie! I feel bad for the Phantom, but he stalked her and killed people for her....and he wanted her to live with him in a sewer place....I mean seriously!

    I would pick Raoul too.

  • My fave songs in the movie is all but my most love duet fave song is All I Ask Of You and Past The Point Of No Return... A love triangle between Phantom,Christine and Raoul...

  • i LOVE this movie!

  • The Phantom of the Opera is one of my all time favorite musicals. Emmy Rossum has such an exquisite voice. God has truly blessed her.

  • stage version definitely better than film.

  • oh yes, definitely.

effects and all are so amazing O_O

  • Oh I agree whole heartedly! It's wonderful.

  • Phantom's voice ....震撼!!

  • anybody else was like hoping the phantom would end up with the girl ? on the first time i saw it i was :D.

  • i did.

  • yeah I feel sorry for him ^^

  • I was hoping the same! I knew from the beginning that The Phantom would be with Christine. I was sad when their love ended..

  • yep i was so mad when he lost the girl and died alone and ended up having a terrible life. but oh well that ending makes the story touch you more than if there was a happy ending.

  • i love this song... in fact, i love all the songs on the phantom of the opera. and poor phantom, i feel really sorry for him too..

  • I love this song. Finally found it on Youtube!

  • We sang these songs in chorus. I LOVE SINGING THEM!!!

  • I LOVE TEH PHANTOMMMMMMM

    :D

  • i reckon they made the phantom too nice in the movie. in the musical the guy is a real evil souled maniac

  • That´s true, you don´t feel sorry about his so badly as u do when u watch the movie...

  • I think if people consider it and look a bit behind the phantom's personality and deeds in the movie, even there he's that.

  • that's one wiev of the caracter... i would more likely say that she's insecure and young, but all opinions are correct!

  • I really love this part. ♥

  • ok i LOVE this part i mean incredible really ! my heart soars when i hear this song and i know that is cheesy but knowing Roul loves her so much, but i do cry for the phantom!

  • Poor phantom! I always get angry at Christine during that part of the movie x) And feel sorry for Phantom :'/

  • Yah, me too. Poor Phantom, I really feel bad for him. Well I would feel angry if I was being betrayed by the only person I have ever loved. I would have reacted like the same. Can't wait till the musical comes back to my city! ^.^

  • Dido

  • I really love the part where Gerard is singing. It's so sad. Every time I watch it (and I've seen it about six or seven times) I cry at that part. I feel how sad he is by being betrayed by the one person he's ever loved in his life. :( I'd give him a hug and make him feel better. I think Christine should have stayed with Phantom.
