  • I'm down with the Kiwi's, I fuckin hate Aussies intensely,

  • What a good time! I had that idea once. After the Tsunami in Thailand (I was sent there to work) I asked for afew hours layover in Japan so that I might do what you did in HK... Well it turned out to be just one hour so allI got to do was go through customs and get on my next flight... Oh well.... LOL!!!

    look's so interesting & exciting.

Have a good week-end my friend

    Catherine

    From Québec,Canada

  • Thanks Catherine! Haha, it takes a LOT of editing to make my life look that interesting, but fortunately the vids are only 5 minutes long! But I am lucky to be in a part of the world that is interesting all on its own. I just point the camera. Hope you are well, and take care there in Quebec!

  • So it looks like Aussie vs Kiwi for rugby is like as the same valuable as Brazil vs Argentina for soccer. When we have soccer game Japan vs Korea, we get excited more than usual.

HAKA is amazing! That's めっちゃかっちょえ~! Aussi national team have to see that and just waiting like that? Something like showing respect? I like these kind of respect. 男 vs 男 って感じだね。

  • Haha, I think that is a good analogy! For Kiwis, beating Australia at rugby is a big part of our identity. It is like we need to show we are equal to them, and not just another state of theirs. So we fight harder than usual when we play them! Fortunately, the rivalry is a friendly one that we both enjoy. I wish I could get the whole Haka but someone stood up in front - but it is MAGIC. It summarizes for me everything about rugby, and about being a Kiwi. A get 鳥肌 every time I see it.

  • were do you get the money to travel so much i wish i could T_T

  • Haha, well, I do work very hard when I'm not editing videos! I only usually get out of Japan once a year, but my friend in HK had a spare ticket, and as a New Zealander, I had to go over and support my team - along with 40,000 other Kiwis and Aussies, most of whom flew from all over the world to support their team. Rugby is serious stuff for us, and it was a ridiculous price, but worth it.

    Peace

  • Hey man! You should have hooked up with me! I live here and would have loved to see you! Are you still here?

  • Mate - you are in one cool town over there. Next time I head out there, definitely, I'd love to meet up dude - so I'll drop you a note. And likewise, if you ever make it up Tokyo ways.

  • good ol haka....reminds me of my college football days..

  • Dude, you know about the Haka? I heard that the college football team from Hawaii did it for a while. I've seen it a hundred times and I still get goosebumps watching it. In every way, it just reminds you "this is the big time", and because of the All Black's record, other teams love it too. Makes me proud to be a Pacific Islander.

  • by the way, are hongkongers fluent in english generally? i'm a little bit worried as i can't speak any cantonese language.中国本土の場合、7年前に北京旅行した時に北京語が全然話せなくて凄く苦労した記憶があります。

  • Haha, it looks like your 日本語 is totally 問題ない though! The good news is that yes, you can totally get by with English there. I feel a bit guilty about that, but people are practical - Chinese learn English to get by day to day, and expats there generally pick up the Chinese they need. Shouldn't be a problem.

  • wow so many kiwis and aussies in Hong Kong!

Hong Kong seems to be a much more diverse city ethnically(the reason why i wanna visit Hong Kong so much) than any other asian cities. and i'm with you Hiko - as long as i know, Tokyo is the most busiest city in the whole world! i just love shibuya intersection on friday night so much! yeah~

  • Lots of Aussies and Kiwis travelled there (the airplane from Haneda was like a gaijin tourbus) but there are also plenty of expats over there too. Hong Kong definitely has a great vibe to it. The biggest difference is that in Japan, people are very aware of others, and how you act or what you do. In Hong Kong, everyone is busy doing their own thing. Nobody cares what you look like or where you are from. It's kinda cool.

    Cheers mate!

  • ちょうfuckin すごいvideo buddy ;)!!!

  • ちょうfckin thanks mate!

    Sweet as!

  • Ahhhh, dont the AB'S make ya proud mate?.I'm moving to Hong Kong next yr to be with my gf an teach english.Love Hong Kong, although i do get abit sick of people everywhere all the time!I'll definitely go to the Hong Kong sevens if i'm there in time!.Stay safe mate :)

  • Maaate, the thing about the ABs is that apart from World Cup playoffs, they always seem to pull through, but they gave me a bit of a scare during this one! Still, the place is magic - multicultural, energetic, and of course the Sevens. All the best with studying there, and thanks for comment!

  • 'what's nice about HK?'

    'the pollution!'

    HAHAHAHAHHA... so true!!! =)

  • Hehe, it looks like I was there on a good day, but apparently it can get pretty bad. Still, people seem to take it in stride!

    Cheers

  • Wow. Looks like a fun day. And a good game. I wish I understood the finer points. Has kind of a hockey-on-grass kind of feel.

  • It was a fantastic day. I must admit, the rules of rugby are a bit complicated, but the basics, particularly principles of "justice" during contact play I think are similar to hockey. I can tell you that ice-hockey is the most popular winter olympic sport on NZ tv - so I think we can mutually appreciate the finer points of each other's national pastimes!

  • AHhh so there was the HAKA. Looks like it was a good time.

  • It was fantastic! Unfortunately some guy stood up right in front of me in the middle of the haka so I could only show the start and the end of it... It was an awesome day - which started with meeting Oborogin at the airport before I left, and finished with going and playing rugby myself just a few hours after getting back to Tokyo. That took a wee while to recover from...

    Peace

  • Wow Hiko, you really get to see so many cool places. Which place is more crowded...Tokyo or Hong Kong? Also, there were alot of New Zealanders and Australians at that game. Alot seem to travel all the way there to see that game. That was a great video! Have a great day!

  • Haha, well, my mate had a spare ticket and it was my first chance to watch the All Blacks play in more than ten years, so it was a bit over the top to go there for just a day, but WORTH IT! 40,000 Kiwis and Aussies attended the game, which was surreal in Hong Kong, but most were like me - there are so many Kiwis living around Asia and the world, but rugby is what brings us all together more than anything else and I just couldn't pass on the chance to go...

  • Hong Kong is definitely smaller and more densely populated than Tokyo, which is bigger but has much more people. I'd say the busiest parts of Tokyo like Shinjuku and Shibuya probably beat out HK for crowds, but HK is pretty consistently full of people, and is much more multicultural and cosmopolitan than Tokyo. I hope I can go back again sometime!

    Peace
