  • crap

  • what is the wood used??

  • expert village....more like village experts

  • that was stupid...

  • thumbs up if u watch this but u dont do it

  • I wish people would stop ripping this guy. If you watch his videos he covers a lot... just step by step. You show someone how to make a guitar in one video on youtube. Thats impossible!

  • what a waste of my time!

  • OMFG U FUCKING SUCK COCK

  • Man, Expert Village SUCKS!!!!!!

  • bind the blade ?

    don't you mean BEND

  • @SoM6666 no, he meant BIND

  • I hope this video is not meant to be serious.

It reminds me of a Monty Python sketch "How to do it".

How to play the flute: "Well here we are. You blow there and you move your fingers up and down here."

  • is there any place that you could go to to borrow the supplies to cut the body. like home depot ?

  • today on how to theoretically cut wood with a bandsaw.

  • @TRAPST3R Im not actually going to cut it out or turn on the bandsaw as i do not have adult supervision and am not qualified to use this alone.

  • is there any video on YouTube where I can have a chance not to see your face?

  • yeah, this is pretty worthless. "I'm not gonna cut it today" and "This is a scrap of the outline of the actual rough cut of a real body"

  • he sounds like cleveland from family guy

  • lol the guitar wasnt even red...it was yellow

  • lmao im not gunna cut it today haha

  • ah ah xpert vlg videos suck like hell: their motto is let me xplain sthing without actually telling you anything at all

  • expertvillage sucks he said red guitar when it wasnt red

  • better title still. "How to stand near a band saw"

  • oh thank you for telling us that u are going to cut out a guitar body. dont title the video this if u dont do it

  • what wood do you use??

  • change the title to "how to use a band saw"

  • Thank God I know how to make a guitar now. I almost blew 200 bucks on a way better one.

  • Expert Village: Tonnes of unnavigatable content that consists of thousands upon thousands of short, uninformative, useless videos with long and confusing names, yet no actual benefit whatsoever.

  • This video is truly informative. I would disagree with previous comments. This professional craftsman at expertvilage shows you all the steps for cutting the body. First get up from your chair. Then, take the rough wood with your left hand. Then, pass it on to your right hand. Then touch the band-saw with your left hand...why people can't see all this ? :)

  • What an imbecile.

  • It is how to specifically make a guitar very helpful

  • /watch?v=gMf4aU9QB6c watch this :)

  • This did not help me one bit

  • does any one know a good type of wood to make an electirc guitar out of????

  • It depends on what kind of sound and weight you want.

  • oh btw why is the truss rod soo important???? what does it do?

  • It balances the tension between the strings and the neck (so it doesn't bend toward the bridge).

  • oohhhh im so stupid thanks. but 1 more question do u need to buy it or can u just use a steel dowel????

  • @DRAGONIRONFIST Helps straighten the neck.

  • swamp ash

    alder

    or mahogany

  • thanks bro

  • @DRAGONIRONFIST Australian Wood

  • @DRAGONIRONFIST I heard Mahogany is good, nt sure though.

  • oak its the strongest wood u can get that or pine eather will work

  • @yourmotha5564

Neither Oak or Pine are good tonewoods for an electric guitar. Mahogany, Alder and Ash are the most common woods used.

  • @matt420740 i used cherrywood, sounds awsome

  • ITS SA FREAKING SAW !!

  • that's what we call a jigsaw.

  • its a bandsaw, a jig is different

  • this is fuking stupid man LOL

    video gives nothing.bullshit.

  • fucker!!!!!!1 COMPLETLEY FUCKING USELESS!!! Anyone know good links or vids tht'll actually help

  • @CreepingForMe /watch?v=6OeR6PZlOLY&feature=related that dued is absolute god

  • My videos may help a little. Check them out.

  • If you use a jig saw that is not of the best quality your cut is (almost) never perpendicular to the face. I used a Festool one- German. Really good stuff. However a bands saw is the way to go or else be prepared for filing and shaping. Do you know a high school wood work teacher? Ask around and get some safety training. No point losing fingers while making a guitar Considering that this is expert village It was rather poor. I'd hate to visit amateur village!!!!

  • Boy, wasn't that just the biggest waste of time for me this evening. Every "Expert Village" video I've seen has been like this; totally useless!!!

  • Stupid video. Doesn't show anything. I'm sure there is more to it.

  • How to Make a Homemade Electric Guitar : Cutting the Body of an Electric Guitar:

    - Step 1, cut out the body.

    The end.

  • @0hypnotoad0 and then you end up with a piece of wood with a guitar shaped hole with the corner missing, great start

  • You don't need a band saw, you can use a jigsaw. I wish these people would understand that most of us can't afford high tech equip which can easily be substituted for something cheaper.

You can make your own band saw anyway by attaching a long blade to a jigsaw and mounting it on a bridge over the work table, and obviously you make a hole in the table for the blade to go through.

  • You can buy a used bandsaw that will cut out a guitar body for about 50 bucks. There's one on ebay right now, brand new for 130 bucks, SHIPPING INCLUDED. The wood for a decent guitar will cost more than that.

  • I wish they shipped to UK. Wood is a bitch to get these days, I'd love to cut down an oak tree.

  • you are aware that a band saw cuts 1 way and a jig saw cuts 2 ways right?

  • At the very least, he should give some basic shop safety rules. Always wear eye protection. Don't get your stupid fingers too close to the blade, use a push stick. Don't start a cut until the blade is at full speed. I could go on.

  • lol...

  • How to Make a Homemade Electric Guitar : Cutting the Body of an Electric Guitar - Summary:

Cut out the body. The end.

Could save yourself 52 seconds by just reading the title.

  • Yeah thats something they need to do. They tell you one thing, then end it.

  • Wow, so easy a caveman can do it.

Thanks Expert Village for teaching people nothing, you useless bunch of cock gobblers.

  • lol

  • agreed. maby they should change the name from Expert Village to Village Idiot. I build custom guitars and these vids had laughing and scratch my head. I give it the cat shit rating

  • You should see his video on how to make a fretboard. "Don't try to make it yourself, buy a pre-slotted fretboard, it'll be perfect and you won't mess it up yourself by sucking". No kidding! That's how he told his audience to make fretboards!

  • This guy sucks! he doesn't show you anything! I hoped I'd find real footage of what it should like like at each step and someone actually making a guitar so I could see what they do, but instead I get: Take wood. Cut with band saw. This is what the finished product will look like.

  • check otu guit wild guitars it's awsome :)

  • Expert Village = Fail

  • NOOO YOU ARE SO WRONG.... it is: expert village = EPIC FAIL

  • I learned SO MUCH in that 0:52... pointless.

  • i agree like he could have at less said what type of wood

  • I think that's mahogany body he's cutting. Not impressed with these vids. He says "be sure not to bind the blade." If you've used a bandsaw as much as I have, you don't need to be told that. If you've never used a bandsaw before, you need to know NOT TO TRY TO MAKE A TIGHT TURN or you'll twist and maybe break a blade.

This guy might be an expert builder, but your average shop class instructer is a better teacher.

  • do you only have one sweat shit you soapy git

  • You'd expect him to show him cutting it and give more safety precautions.

  • You would think he would decide on the design and then make this video.

  • Expert village: how to make an eletric guitar: 98498984998498498 videos, 50s each one.

  • I know.

Its fucking ridiculous. Thats why I hate expert village

  • Me too...

    Homemade videos FTW!!!

  • this video sucks the best guitar is on wildguitars its on youtube but u might have to look for it and it is very detailed

  • this dint help at all! it should be called:super boring pointless way to use the ban saw: its more like a ban saw vidio the only thing related to guitar is the guitar in the backround at the start

  • Im looking into "building" my first guitar. I think though that to start out I will buy a body, build my own neck, and then install pickups myself. Im not very good with wood or anything and im 15 i barely know anything about this but i am interested

  • loser i mean

  • Srsly, these videos are dumb short clips without much information. You guys are better off researching and reading yourself.

Expert Village needs to realize that they should put more depth in their videos, not making as much separate videos as they under one subject just to make it seem you can get a lot out of it...

  • @DUY1337GUITAR I totally agree, it's just because they want to have like hundreds of thousands of videos, and it's very very lame.

  • How does that band saw work for you? and what price do these sell for?

  • did you use mahogany for the solid body?

  • looks like hes using alder in the video. sorry i misunderstood what you were asking.

  • its ok, thanks for the reply bro.

  • can you tell me what kind of wood did you use?

  • guitars are usually alder or mahoganny. basses are usually alder

  • i mean in the solid body?

  • that is the solid body woods. maple is usually used for the necks.

  • what kind of machine is it?

  • band saw

  • this is weird, he shows a band saw and a piece of wood and that's all.

  • where can you buy the body blank at?

  • they're available in a lot of places. look around google. i would actually recommend to buy it from ebay. you can get it for cheap if you look around. got an alder blank off ebay for 20 bucks.

  • do you people know how long this video would be if he actually made the guitar while he was telling you how. geez think about it before you say this guy doesn't do anything

  • 3h 27mins. It's called "A Complete Custom Electric Guitar Build". It takes a lot of time and effort to make a video like that and most people haven't got the time or effort to do it. But it can be done and it has been done. Just don't look on Expert Village for it! Rock & Roll....

  • well then, how would we have any guitars unless people actually tried to make them?

  • your stupid...of course you can go have some professional make your guitar but where is the fun in that...A lot of people most likely think it would be fun to make a guitar so they can say they made one.

  • These so called "Expert Village" flicks are lame. This dude never does anything.

  • I RECON EXPERT VILLAGE SUCKS your 100% right

  • This doesn't actually "show" you how to make an electric guitar. The "A Complete Custom Electric Guitar Build" shows a preview of a DVD that actually shows a custom electric guitar built starting with a tree!!!!

  • Hey my last name is Pope you dont see that name around very often!

  • im sorry but these videos are too short and this guy only talks, he doesnt do anything

  • hey dude please make a vid on how to make the neck and the body and how to put every thing in. all in the same vid please

  • Don't take him too seriously because he's just gonna make a guitar shaped doghouse. The body blanket is thin like paper... :)

  • It is going to have a carved maple top.

  • He has a Marshall MG series in the back. I don't know how seriously I should take this guy.

  • hahaha : D

  • wonder what wood is used on cheap guitars.

BUT THE BEST WOOD IS THE ONE THAT CUTS EASILY AND VIBRATES FOR A GOOD TIME!!!

because come on you will get thrustrated when the wood is hard as rock cuz the drill bits and other cutting accesories will go dull or break.

  • Thats how you know your guitar will be lasting

  • FBI guitars

  • Expert Vild.

    SUCKS MY ASS

  • what is a good cheap wood to use?

  • he says in his other videos

  • you can use anything but preferably you would want to use a tonewood.

basswood is alright, alder is good, ash, mahogany one of the best., are most used.

look them up they all affect tone and vibraste with different ranges giving the guitar a distinct sound

  • Basswood, Poplar and Plywood. Ibanez uses a lot of Basswood.

  • ply wood is crap, guess you already know that though

  • Come check out the flying V I built on my channel. I also have a video showing how to turn a tremolo guitar into a hardtail string through body.

  • your videos are cool, but i need help.

you got 132748 vidos, i cant find all the videos how to build a guitar.

    Could you send me them?

    IT WOULD BEE TOTALY AWESOME!!

  • It's all about clickies...

  • i need help would plum wood be good for a guitar?

  • You can make guitars form any wood. I will make mine from pinewood. Check wood descriptions on the internet.

  • its just a band saw mate now guitsr factory instuments lol

  • this is all very good if you have the equipment of a guitar factory in your home

  • what? yeah right guitar factory tools!! all the tools needed are just basic tools that any woodworker would have. and i wouldnt trust these videos anyway, every one of them is overly baisic, and overall not accurate at all.

  • ive got most of those tools in my house cept a band saw

  • hi

i have a very legitim claim to make...

you have a lot of videos with are of cumoon interest to many can you please please please number them ...lots of videos all with the same tile its confusing to to follow ...

i hope this is of your concern .

    Thank you keep rocking

  • what tools can you use to do this????

  • well if its all solid body do you just get strings pickups etc and put it all on and its ready to go???

  • has SOME information but less than enough. It wouldah been 3x better if he showed you how it is actually done. build a guitar from start to fin explaining every detail and tool. trust me guys if i had the tools and skills i would totaly do that cause like i am right now, i would like to know totaly how to dp it. i really dont like not knowing cause im interested in this.

  • Sorry, the production crew called the night before this was done and asked me to do it the next day. I had no clue I was going to do 40 plus unscripted videos the next day.I did have a few projects going but was not in the process of cutting a body or a neck etc. If this had been a planned video project,I would have made it more user friendly.

  • expert village kinda sux

  • what kind of wood is it? maple?

  • lol...thats the bandsaw i have... 10" craftsman

  • it caint cut curvs

  • ? yes it can

  • no it caint watch it again

  • dude, i have a bandsaw. but then again, it depends on what kind of curvs its talking about. what are you talking about?

  • he said it caint cut curves with an accent

  • the outline he showed even showed how it can cut. a 1/4 inch blade can cut a 3/8" circle. it just cant cut a 90 degree angle cut. i dont think you are familiar with tools and how they work. he showed the outline cut off a body. and that had curves.

  • it wuz a joke I suk with tools

  • What wood is this that you use?
