Are you sure you can't sew the rectangles together on both of the long seams, so it's like a tube, cut the arm holes out on the seems, and cut a slit down the middle of the front? Am I crazy or would that work?
This is neat and oh so simple. I know I will be making kinds of these to wear over my tank tops. Right now I bought a lot of short cardigans and I want to change it up. Thanks for the tutorial.

I think your right on the fact a larger shirt would be better, and also, would it not look a bit better if you were to cut off the hem?
