This record -- released as Brunswick 86001 --actually made the charts, reaching #22 the week of August 22, 1953. The flip side, "Little Red Riding Hood," charted too, for two weeks starting August 8, 1953.

I have an Al Collins album on Impulse, with other stories for hip kids etc. IMO Al's hipster talk belonged to the bop era; it sounds outdated now. It was allright for Al to bemoan Bird's death on a Savoy album, but times have changed. Even my perennial pal Jack Benny sounds old-fashioned every now and then :-)
Too Funny! I just found this gem on 78RPM record, with Little Red Riding Hood on the other side. i actually find that side more entertaining. But I didnt expect to find this on youtube. Thanks!

Al Collins was one of the coolest and funniest dudes around. Here, he is legend. Pity that he did so few records.
Thanks a load for the video & please feel free to check out my swingin' jazz blog, if you like. For link see my profile.
