the song is determined the moment you both hear the same song that you both love together for the first time as a couple - the distinction between relationship and convenience is a matter of degrees - typically by measure of compromise or compensation
Im actually really nervous about public speaking and really what it sums up to, is im afraid of looking and/or sounding like a complete jack ass or getting across bad information.
come on Brigitte your the top best cutest girls have plenty of great quality cant understand why it wouldnt work out for you i would tottaly date you never give up hopefully you will find the right one. ;) cya.
I once had a girlfriend and we both wend on a vacation for a month.
The relationship was pretty fresh, we where dating for 2 months or so and were madly in love.
The problem was she went to Scotland with her parents and i went to France with 2 friends of mine, so we had a really hard time not seeing each other for so long in such a early point of a relationship.
So it turned out we where listening to the same song when we were thinking of each other so that was "our song" .
1:09- 1:16 SOOOO FUNNY!!! i've thought the same exact thing... i mean come on... really? how do you get an "our song"... maybe everyone gets one so they can fit in... but nothing really happens... other than the two deciding to get and "our song"... hmmm
Just an observation, but you're probably too smart for the vast majority of the guys in your dating pool and way too cute and adorable for a shy smart guy to have enough courage to chase after you. I imagine a whole bunch of smart, socially handicapped boys getting a deer in the headlights look and freeze till you rolled your eyes and walked away... lol
Are you a guy saying this? Seems like people say this sort of thing all the time but it's usually a girl who will say it. Maybe one or two guys will say it.
Yup, a guy. The bold boys that have the courage to go up and talk to a really cute girl are usually a-holes. If a guy is good at asking you out, you should probably have a warning light go off instead of hearing bells... Go for the awkward guy that looks like he's gonna pass out by talking to you, heh.
People still dance a lot... just a matter of finding the right club. Any club that spins electronic is gonna have at least some people dancing. Top 40/Hip Hop clubs usually have a larger crowd on the floor, but in my experience, there are fewer of the latter type clubs and more of the former... it's just a matter of finding 'em.
i think that songs like that just happen. like last year i was dating a guy and we would drive in his car a lot and he liked to play the radio. one day he was like "i bet if we surf channels long enough someone will be playing nickelback" and sure enough there was someone playing a song with the lead singer from nickelback moments later and we thought that was hilarious and made fun of the song over and over. the song was a hit and so we heard it all the time and it just sorta became our song!
Brigitte, your one-sided cooking habit could be a problem with your relationships. In a solid relationship, both parties would enjoy cooking for, and with, each other.
For example, if you were dating me, I would make you breakfast every morning, just so I could eat your muffin every night.
Are you dating people who know your vlog before they know you? Maybe they have a crush on you (like the people who comment here) but since they dont know you, the crush is either on 1) the person theyve conjured up and decided you are, or 2) they person they want you to be. Then when they meet you, theyre disillusioned. Its messed up and its their problem, but maybe only see people who dont watch the vlog?
PS the songs only happen when you arent looking they find you :-)
from my experience, the women do the sentimental stuff like telling the man what their song is! lol... relationships arent that hard if you can sit back and study sociology, psych too, but then you get into individuals, and thats complicates it... understanding a male brain vs a woman brain is key i think... sorry ppls equality doesnt mean everything is the same! Knowing the way one thinks and works is key to a good relationship, understanding is a good way to say, usually its not that hard
After reading some of the other comments, it seems that if you DO get an official song for your relationship and that person doesn't turn out to be "the one," your chances of getting another "song" later on is pretty slim. Yay.
I had an official song, but it only happened once. The thing people need to understand about these kind of "songs" is that they could probably be anyone's song.
But when you hear it, you are so engrossed in the relationship (or thoughts of your person) that you immediately connect with the song in a "special" way, and all of a sudden "that" song is mirroring some important part of your relationship.
Your mind immediately thinks, OMG! This is OUR SONG!
haha...i really liked this one brigitte or daisy or whatever your name is...
and there were no dirty laundry in the background... i think probably almost everybody who watched the vid went back through it after to look for the laundry..HAHA you tricked us !
Being "good" at relationships can be just as dangerous as being "bad" at them. I mean, if you're good at them, you run the risk of artificially extending a relationship even after it's turned unhealthy/unhappy.
Of course, being "bad" at relationships isn't any better. You still have to be able to sustain a relationship long enough to decide whether he/she is the one for you.
So, rest easy, Brigitte: if you're a "c student" at relationships, that's probably just about right. :P
I got an "official" song just once. It was playing when we checked in on vacation. It was playing on a dance. On the radio during the end of a fight. During a few other such moments. It became "our" song by the fact that we always smiled and thought about fights, make-ups, and finally love making. Became kinda "our song". Let it come naturally.
I'm a big music lover. For years there was this song I really liked that I was never able to learn who sang it or what the title was. Then I met my future wife and she was as big a music lover as me so I asked her. It turned out it was her favorite song: "I Love You" by The Climax Blues Band. A year later we were married, and we danced to it at our wedding.
(Since then though we've picked up another half-dozen songs that qualify as "our song" so draw yer own conculsions about that) :)
The way that I got a song was because it played constantly when we were around each other for a period of time...at the clubs when we were first dating, on our first long road trip together, on the radio while we were both donating plasma...at one point, it just happened that it came on and my ex said, "Hey, it's our song!" and it just stuck.
In an unfortunate chain of events, the song was "I Can't Wait To See You Again" by Miley Cyrus.
BTW I only had one relationship where we had an official "Song" and it was "Sister" by the Nixons b/c everytime we talked on the phone the song and even the video came on tv. of course I was like 14/15 and couldn't drive anywhere so it was mostly a phone relationship.
lol That's for the most how I ever had a song w/ a boyfriend.
which sucks b/c me and my guy are trying to figure out what we're gonna dance to at our wedding. hohum.
i happen to be on the same love boat that your in..lol
not so hot in the relationships dep,,, i just don't get it../ but i believe i should just keep trying.. unfortunately my cookies prolly aren't as good as yours...,<3
you didnt miss that window. it should just come naturally. i mean i dunno about your past relationships nor am i an expert at them, but nothing in this life is trully predictable. do you know what i mean? like you can't say just because it hasn't happened, that automatically it will never happen. things will eventually fall into the right place when you're with the right guy.
I hate when people establish official songs to a relationship, if they break up, they you'll never be able to remember the song without remembering your ex.
Takes allot to admit to being a C Student?! haha I've always enjoyed your fresh point of views, maybe you are just over thinking it?!
There's all kinds of Love, and I've always valued this little tidbit! Hope it helps?? =] True love begins when nothing is looked for in return. - author : Antoine De Saint-Exupery
'Our song' is usually the one playing during the first really, delicate romantic moment -- like watching La Boheme at the MET and realizing you're in love, and forever thinking of her during Musetta's waltz. or, always singing to the same record, like Weezers Pinkerton, on fun weekend day trips
Human relationships do work its the generalization of statistics that say they dont Hollywood stars do not make a good example to the world. Lets blame them for the programming of people. lol just saying.?
I have 6 people constantly texting me and being all sad about their love lives and asking for advice. it's a lot of pressure, considering i'm not good at relationships either. it's like being a military adviser without having been a soldier. if we lose the war, its my fault.
if this isn't what you're going through, consider yourself lucky. at least your relationships are the only ones on the line, lol.
I think it is harder to go from dancing, to not dancing. Because then you just stand there and dont know where to put your arms. So then you have to walk away, because once you stop you can't really start again with out it feeling even more awkward.
Sounds like you need a starter move, the point and move your hips is a standard, although retro it makes you look like you could be just joking if things don't come together,
to get a song, you have to have the radio on all the time, eventually something hits, for my wife and self, "you and me baby and nothing but mammals so lets do it like they do it on the discovery channel," classic romance!
I was a c student, but now I'm an A student. Though I'm not in a relationship at the mo, I reckon I'd be good in it. And if someone said to me "don't leave, who will eat all these cookies", I would stay if'n' a cupcake was thrown in :-D
Also my dancing skills suck in general and usually I start off jokingly dancing and move up from there. I wish I didn't look like Carlton from Fresh Prince when I start but hey its makes the girl laugh and is the only unawkward way I can start off.
I think the "our song" thing happens when a song comes on the radio (or current media player of the week) and one of the people in the relationship says "this should be our song". What can you say to that. "This song sucks". Then you look like a jerk. So you have to live with the song until your wedding day when,if your lucky, your will both be sick of hearing the song. After that it doesn't matter. Does that make any sense at all?
"Our Song" may be whatever seemed to be playing on the radio,or wherever you and your significant other are together. And,it could be a song you hear, and get an image of the partner.
My song is always the notes played during Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
With my last gf, she once told methat when I kissed her, she heard Peaceful Easy Feeling in her head. So Valentine's Day, I made her a mix CD that opened and closed with PEF. Voila! We had "our" song.
Meanwhile, current gf and I have been together since November and still no song.
As for the song, it kind of just happens. This one song always ended up playing when we were driving in the car together, so it kind of became the song by default. The problem is when you break up. Then you no longer like that song no matter how much you actually like it, you don't like it because it reminds you of your ex.
Couples get a song when the girl in the relationship says "hey honey it's our song." It's the guys job to remember what song is playing in that moment. Obviously this is only for hetero relationships, I'm not sure how gay couples handle this situation. Probably the same way.
"If" you are predisposed to a "Song" and you haven't heard it yet, maybe it hasn't been written yet. As for your unattractive bit , they are only rumors until we see the alleged unattractive bits. As far as your slow dancing is concerned, I expect it works well for you!
when a couple has a song.. i think both people have a different song in mind, but the first one to say it kind of calls what the official song is, because the other person feels they shouldnt disagree because it seems like they dont know why that's the song, or that it'll hurt the feelings of that person.
But I do get a big A+ with a star sticker at being single!
The real thing about in relationships is compromise. You have to know which battles you can live with losing and which ones you can sweet talk your way to get.
The real test comes if and when your true love comes. I'm a hopeless romantic so I still choose to believe this :) Where compromise will no longer feel like a compromise because you will instinctively find a middle ground.
This does explain why I can't dance then, I have no attractive bits. And I've been lucky enough to get two women to marry me. The second one is even still around. :)
I've never had a song with someone either. I always thought "our song" meant, "the song we wrote together". If you don't own the royalties you should really go around claiming it to be yours!
At any special moment.....First kiss, First dance, first time having sex..and you hear a song that you both like and it has special meaning to your relationship, then that would be your song. It is a girl thing more then a guy thing. I am not sure how you can fail at relationships unless your too picky or try to change your partner too much.
The only relationship I've been in was accidental. I thought I was friends with this girl and apparently she thought we were in a relationship. When I told her that we were in fact not in a relationship, she got mad and never spoke to me again. So I guess we "broke up." :' (
i totally thought u were gonna 'bust a move' aka dance at the end of your video since u were talking about dancing and you understand it and its strategy...lol totally led me on.. thought u were gonna show an example of how your parts dont move in sync yet lol =P
but yeah relationships.. who can crack the code for it?... perhaps there is a 'relationship whisperer' out there like the dog whisperer..... O.o
I'm not sure if we men have a "song". I'm pretty sure we have a "smell." Cinnamon gets me every time!! Just keep baking food with the cinnamon smell and I guarantee you that men will be camped at your door. :-)
the song is determined the moment you both hear the same song that you both love together for the first time as a couple - the distinction between relationship and convenience is a matter of degrees - typically by measure of compromise or compensation

With my last gf, she once told methat when I kissed her, she heard Peaceful Easy Feeling in her head. So Valentine's Day, I made her a mix CD that opened and closed with PEF. Voila! We had "our" song.
Meanwhile, current gf and I have been together since November and still no song.

and maybe because you aren't trying a relationship with me. :)

I would go dancing with you <3
As for the song, it kind of just happens. This one song always ended up playing when we were driving in the car together, so it kind of became the song by default. The problem is when you break up. Then you no longer like that song no matter how much you actually like it, you don't like it because it reminds you of your ex.
Its complicated. Stupid relationships.

Couples get a song when the girl in the relationship says "hey honey it's our song." It's the guys job to remember what song is playing in that moment. Obviously this is only for hetero relationships, I'm not sure how gay couples handle this situation. Probably the same way.

ha ha... great video blog.
1. with regards to how couples get a song... someone told me the same thing too. apparently, "someone" is quite popular.
2. what were you eating in the vid? was it some sort of curry meat product in a cup?
3. didn't notice the dirty laundry until you pointed it out.
4. i re-posted this comment, cause' i used the wrong word the first time. i used quiet instead of quite :(... proper word use FAIL....

relationships are only hard when you try hard to be someone youre not.. which most ppl do

"If" you are predisposed to a "Song" and you haven't heard it yet, maybe it hasn't been written yet. As for your unattractive bit , they are only rumors until we see the alleged unattractive bits. As far as your slow dancing is concerned, I expect it works well for you!

The thing about finding *that* song is that it is much like finding the right person to share the song with.

when a couple has a song.. i think both people have a different song in mind, but the first one to say it kind of calls what the official song is, because the other person feels they shouldnt disagree because it seems like they dont know why that's the song, or that it'll hurt the feelings of that person.

I'd say I'm about a B- or C+ in relationships.

I think you discover your "song" retroactively. Yeah, you both go, "wasn't that playing when we..." "Sure I guess. I was drunk, how should I know?'

Do you have any unattractive bits?
This does explain why I can't dance then, I have no attractive bits. And I've been lucky enough to get two women to marry me. The second one is even still around. :)

I've never had a song with someone either. I always thought "our song" meant, "the song we wrote together". If you don't own the royalties you should really go around claiming it to be yours!

I know where your coming from.
I prefer the uncomplicated single life.
Relationships make me think to hard in directions I would rather not.
I despise the inevitable conflicts that arise.

In my past relationships with "songs", it often starts where one of us say, "This song reminds me of you" or something sickeningly cute like that.
If that doesn't work a mixtape is an easy route to getting song associations with the other person. :)

i totally thought u were gonna 'bust a move' aka dance at the end of your video since u were talking about dancing and you understand it and its strategy...lol totally led me on.. thought u were gonna show an example of how your parts dont move in sync yet lol =P
but yeah relationships.. who can crack the code for it?... perhaps there is a 'relationship whisperer' out there like the dog whisperer..... O.o

I'm not sure if we men have a "song". I'm pretty sure we have a "smell." Cinnamon gets me every time!! Just keep baking food with the cinnamon smell and I guarantee you that men will be camped at your door. :-)
