I once had a girlfriend and we both wend on a vacation for a month.

The relationship was pretty fresh, we where dating for 2 months or so and were madly in love.

The problem was she went to Scotland with her parents and i went to France with 2 friends of mine, so we had a really hard time not seeing each other for so long in such a early point of a relationship.

i think that songs like that just happen. like last year i was dating a guy and we would drive in his car a lot and he liked to play the radio. one day he was like "i bet if we surf channels long enough someone will be playing nickelback" and sure enough there was someone playing a song with the lead singer from nickelback moments later and we thought that was hilarious and made fun of the song over and over. the song was a hit and so we heard it all the time and it just sorta became our song!

Maybe they have a crush on you (like the people who comment here) but since they dont know you, the crush is either on 1) the person theyve conjured up and decided you are, or 2) they person they want you to be. I had an official song, but it only happened once. The thing people need to understand about these kind of "songs" is that they could probably be anyone's song.

But when you hear it, you are so engrossed in the relationship (or thoughts of your person) that you immediately connect with the song in a "special" way, and all of a sudden "that" song is mirroring some important part of your relationship.

Your mind immediately thinks, OMG! This is OUR SONG!

Being "good" at relationships can be just as dangerous as being "bad" at them. I mean, if you're good at them, you run the risk of artificially extending a relationship even after it's turned unhealthy/unhappy.

Of course, being "bad" at relationships isn't any better. You still have to be able to sustain a relationship long enough to decide whether he/she is the one for you.

I got an "official" song just once. It was playing when we checked in on vacation. It was playing on a dance. On the radio during the end of a fight. During a few other such moments. It became "our" song by the fact that we always smiled and thought about fights, make-ups, and finally love making. Became kinda "our song". Let it come naturally.

I'm a big music lover. For years there was this song I really liked that I was never able to learn who sang it or what the title was. Then I met my future wife and she was as big a music lover as me so I asked her. It turned out it was her favorite song: "I Love You" by The Climax Blues Band. The way that I got a song was because it played constantly when we were around each other for a period of time...at the clubs when we were first dating, on our first long road trip together, on the radio while we were both donating plasma...at one point, it just happened that it came on and my ex said, "Hey, it's our song!" and it just stuck.

In an unfortunate chain of events, the song was "I Can't Wait To See You Again" by Miley Cyrus.

What can you say to that. "This song sucks". Then you look like a jerk. So you have to live with the song until your wedding day when,if your lucky, your will both be sick of hearing the song. As for the song, it kind of just happens. This one song always ended up playing when we were driving in the car together, so it kind of became the song by default. The problem is when you break up. Then you no longer like that song no matter how much you actually like it, you don't like it because it reminds you of your ex.
