  • Damn it "240p" we met again!!

  • World War II seemed like such an awful time!!!!! I hope nothing like that ever happens again.

  • @sauceysassy Yikes. Calm down. Its just a film. Lol.

  • @spiderlolo100 Yeah but then she wrote that book. Thus redeeming herself and giving the film a happy ending. Haha. But yeah. Everyone in this film was annoying. I would have liked it if everyone in it had died. Lol.

  • this is why kids give me the shits........

  • @pretentification No. Not humorous. Not one bit. It made me want to bawl my eyes out and then shoot myself.

  • @320lana "Funny", to cause laughter or amusement. To be humorous.

  • This movie had such a funny ending, Lol.

  • @Pretentification Umm..how? Explain please.

  • @Pretentification Define "funny" please.

  • @Pretentification the ending made me want to go out and kill every single kid that is out there, it made me want to just reach over the screen and grab briony (that little bitch) and kill her, this movie's ending is on par with the endings of movies like "requiem for a dream" and "the wrestler" and "wolrd trade center" and "titanic (yeah i know both were real events but you get the idea)

  • god dammit i got to stop reading the comments every time i read a couple to see if its worth watching and everytime some says the whole story

  • me encanta

  • That IS sarcasm, by the way.

  • Watched this trailer to see if I wanted to watch this movie, I've never seen it. Only to have the movie ruined by a spoiler. Thanks @Vampires22 . Awesome!

  • @Vampires22 She was NOT content, she lived with ever increasing guilt, the story she wrote was something for self satisfaction and at Robbie's request.

  • @Vampires22 you have got to be kidding me. the entire point of the story was that she felt guilty. she couldn't do anything, she was paralyzed by her guilt. I don't remember any contentedness on her part at all. At the end, she did everything she could. She wrote the truth and gave them an ending. But she still couldn't live her life without feeling the guilt at what she did. Only a complete, utter moron could could have missed the entire storyline and say "she does not blame herself"!!!

  • @Vampires22 : Briony w/ age comes to realize the devastation her ignorance & jealousy as a child inflicted on Cecilia & Robbie. Blaming herself; she left the family estate, became a nurse & denied herself romantic love. The duration of her life was regret, shame, & lonliness because she could not undo what was done. Briony is the one who suffered - w/ both Celcilia & Robbie dying five years after the incident, she had to carry on til old age w/ the outcome of her actions.

  • @Vampires22 Spoiler alert?

  • Best Movie of all times Thumbs up for such a great production

  • I cry in the trailer! It is just so sad... :(

great movie though! James was amazing!

  • Oh my goodness! I just watched this movie for the very first time last night and I think I cried for hours! What a great movie! I REALLY want to read the book! -3

  • Thumbs up if just the trailer brought tears to your eyes...

  • @bluefavourites you're right, in the book there is (obviously) a lot more description of Briony's character and she is far more understandable, and even relatable than in the film. I recommend reading the book. It offers a completely different perspective to the story.

  • one of the finest movie i ever watchd xcept for a little prolonged capture of the soldiers' grievances where my attention was almost

  • amazing film and score

  • I hate Briony!!

  • Tasty, James McAvoy....

  • Okay - here we go....

0:11 - 1:15 a variation of the original soundtrack score by Dario Marianelli composed specifically for the trailer. You can find very similar tracks on the soundtrack

    1:19 - 1:23 - Breathing Space by X-Ray Dog

1:25 - 1:53 I HAVE YET TO FIND THIS - BEEN SEARCHING FOR OVER 2 YEARS - IF ANYBODY HAS ANSWER LET ME KNOW

1:54 - 2:11 - The Half Killed by Dario Marianelli (soundtrack)

2:11 - end - The Vesion by X-Ray Dog (not VISION)

  • I want to see this movie so badly!!! Keira knightley is my fave actress of all time and I love the fact that James mcavoy is scottish (like me!) They go together so perfectly they could be mistaken for a couple if James wasn't already married

  • isn that the qirl from "Hanna"?

  • aren't the main characters meant to be 11, 13 and 15 years old? Have they employed adults for the sake of censorship??

  • I can't even describe how much I love this movie. This story (the book, the movie, the soundtrack) is the most beautiful and complete work I can recall experiencing. Ever.

  • thumbs up for James McAboytoy

  • I love the way she says "Come back to me" <3

  • I first saw this movie on tv and of course it was an abridged and censored version like on tnt. I was so fucking confused. I just didnt get it. I mean I got most of it but the movie seemed choppy as if cut in places (which it was).I wondered what the hell that letter robbie wrote said. I have just finished watching the full version of the movie and it makes absolute sense and is very well directed and made. Moral of the story is go to the theater to see a movie or buy the dvd.

  • Wow this looks amazing, I want to see it so bad!

  • Their love scene is really hot. Would've liked to see more of their love story as opposed to the whole movie being him at war and about the other girl.

  • This is a beautiful film. Seriously! I love it.

  • I would totally marry James McAvoy!!

  • i am very very glad that i didnt see this trailer.

  • @123ertms the movie is so much better then it looks!!!

  • @123ertms oh I know. I watched the movie without having any idea what I was getting myself into- I find it better that way. and I cried so baaad~

  • i hate brynee!

  • Atonement is such a beautiful story. Keira Knightly and James MCavoy complement each other so well. I saw this Dutch film called Bride Flight that had a couple that did a marvelous job together. They were really splendid on camera. Both films are really worth watching. bit. ly/mvjnEE

  • please someone can tell me how the song is called Minute 1:19 .. thanks

  • Wow, a very young Saoirse.

  • i like the part were they act.

  • i wish this movie had a happy ending. its amazing though.

  • @sandbox390 cheers for ruining it for me..

  • i dont get ittt...

  • WOW looks gr8

  • i totally cried like a baby at the end of this. i never cry. lol

  • @thehappyhippyo0 don't worry i will as well probs wen i watch itit also means its a good movie if it moves u emotionally XD

  • do you think they regret not introducing saiorse ronan in the trailer?

  • We had to read the book for school & yeah today we watched this movie.

I was so close to crying ;(

  • the piano that began to play at 1:20

does anyone know what that song/part is called?

  • @Tokio19Hotel i think it's "breathing space" by x-ray dog

  • @Tokio19Hotel Breathing Space by X-Ray Dog; it's not technically released to the public so if you cannot find it let me know and i can e-mail it to you =)

  • The song at 2:11 is called: X-Ray Dog - "The Vision"

  • God the person who read aloud McAvoy's and Knightley's names and the title of the movie really ruins this trailer for me. I think it was really unnecessary, this trailer is amazing on its own.

  • Can someone please tell me the name of the song at 2:11 ??

  • Amelia Mcgil she in this and she goes to my school!:)

  • You know I never understood why many reviews of the film say she had a "crush" on Robbie and wanted to tear them apart, when it was actually quite obvious in the film and even the book, that she accused Robbie because she believed he really was a nasty rapist pervert!

  • @blugeagua She did have a crush on Robbie she even told him once, but I agree with you she really thought that he raped Lola

  • I hate that little smart ass nosy girl!!! ><

  • amazing film

  • Moral of the story..never hook up infront of a kid

  • @LennonMcCartneyluv the moral of the story is complicated, its really the rippling affects of war, and the lasting power that love can behold, and really the simple small interaction that can feul love.

  • Respond to this video... You got that right. As the saying in the movie HANNAH goes " SOMETIMES, CHILDREN CAN BE BAD PEOPLE TOO. "

  • @CuteDwarf11 Sadly yes

  • everybody just needs to ill :L

  • I feel bad for Briony, she made one mistake when she was a kid and look what it did

  • I guess there is a lesson for all of us...we can't assume what we see with our eyes has not been tainted by our imagination....

  • Is there any need for the silly narrator at the end?

Anyway, beautiful film. So sad and touching.

  • most beautiful movie of all time

  • Does anyone know the song being played at 1:19?

  • this fuckin little bastard, needs to blames this hot guy. OMg, i swear she ruined everything. fuckin little girl, doesnt know shit. think first before using your fuckin mouth.

  • @lalalovenickie it is a movie, chill out

  • @lalalovenickie It's a MOVIE Without her part it would NOT be a MOVIE

  • @lalalovenickie "think first before using your moth" loool you can talk.

  • @lalalovenickie "think first before using your mouth" loool you can talk.

  • @lalalovenickie Calm the fuck down, I don't have empathy towards her but she was delusional. That letter she read made her think Robby was a sex maniac and when she saw Lola being raped, she still believed Robby was a sex maniac which was why she said it was him. At least she felt remorse for it. It was late but since she couldn't meet ends with reality when both of them died, she turned to fiction to give them their happiness. What she did was still wrong nonetheless but she's not a "bastard".

  • @bluefavorites this was 4 months ago......

  • @lalalovenickie lol did you change in 4 months? Or was it 4 months ago when you were upset about the ending.

  • @bluefavorites it was 4 months ago when i was upset..

  • @lalalovenickie oh..

  • @bluefavorites But she NEVER made it right.

  • @AccioHHr She made an effort to after they died. Better than nothing.

  • @bluefavorites No, it's not. It IS nothing. They're dead. Who cares what happened afterwards? I do feel bad for her for the life she had to continue to live, though.

  • @AccioHHr Nope it's something. Reality or fiction, it's SOMETHING she's done for them.

  • @bluefavorites We're going to have to agree to disagree. I wouldn't take a person's word who murdered someone and then repented. Sorry, still killed that person, don't care if you're sorry or not. Your apology means absolutely nothing when people are rotting in the ground because of you. I hope they suffer for what they've done. Man, cold-hearted, aren't I?

  • @AccioHHr She didn't murder anyone, that's the thing. She changed their fates, ultimately leading to their death. But as said, she was delusional. She really thought she saw Robby. I have no idea why it sounds like I'm sticking up for her but I'm not. People just need to empathize.

  • @bluefavorites You are wrong. She did NOT think she "saw" Robbie. She just "knew" it was him. I cannot empathize and even sympathizing is tough. I'd forgive her a few years of her teens, but waiting as long as she did was wrong, cowardly and damnable. She HAD the chance to fix her mistakes and didn't. She never stood up to Lola/Paul, never contacted her sister and never (to the reader's knowledge) set the record straight with her parents and/or Robbie's mother. Absolutely unforgivable.

  • @AccioHHr Also, the murder scenario was simply an anaolgy. I do not blame her for their deaths... although one could argue that their blood is on her hands. Robbie joined the military to excape prison (and why was he IN prison?) and Cecilia became a nurse to get away from her estranged parents (and WHY were they estranged?). Food for thought.

  • @AccioHHr *escape (oops)

  • @AccioHHr Wow you have a good point there. I cannot empathize either as she was stupendous about it. But in the movie she saw a guy running away. And she said to Lola "I saw him, it was Robby wasn't it?", and she brought herself to believe it was him.

  • @bluefavorites I haven't seen the movie, only read the book and there's quite a fair bit more information in the book (obviously) and you get a much fuller picture than I'm guessing the movie gives. Just saying that's where my point of view comes from..

Everything aside, it is a monumental tragedy and I feel sorry, in some way or another, for everyone involved.

  • @AccioHHr I heard the movie portrays Briony in a more negative way than the book does. But I haven't read the book, so I guess I'm overanalyzing.

  • nosy little bastard, that kid isn't she?

  • my ass had cancer, but i farted into a pringles can and now i'm cured, hoooray!

  • @nzgangsta101 ..wat

  • i had someone in my life i loved looked at me the way James McAvoy looked at his co-star with so much love in his eyes like there are no one else but me 5 years ago. Sadly, my love died from cancer and left me with a void in my heart, like a heart broken in million pieces, broken so small, they could pass through the eye of a needle.

  • @thmien1 oh my god that was boring

  • @peekickmamafush did it take you a hour to read that

  • @peekickmamafush i got 2 cars, 2 houses in 2 different countries, a great business and all you have got is a mouth that is equal to a barking dog LOL

  • @thmien1 at least im not a depressed litte faggot

  • @peekickmamafush who let the dog out?

  • This is the best movie ever! :) oh and I just realized briony is the girl from the lovely bones!

  • I could watch this movie every day, so beautiful. Love it.

  • I cry every single time i watch this film, its so brilliant and heart breaking

  • Who knows all music, which is used in here?! Pleaseee!

  • @Apelsinka15

    Two of them:

    X-Ray Dog - Breathing Space

    X-Ray Dog - The Vision

  • i hate it when they use a narrator with an american accent for british movie.

  • @LostInAusten17

    but it's not as annoying

  • @LostInAusten17 lol, i never noticed that till u mentioned it:D

  • @LostInAusten17 Ahh, I thought I was the only person that got annoyed by this! It's so annoying :/

  • when she popped out of the fountain, it looked like she was naked.

    WHOA, UM. AWKWARD.

  • Anyone know the song that starts around 2:12 ?

    Is it from the OST?

  • can anyone tell me what this movie is about i dont get it

  • @adrianap102 A really big misunderstanding that tears apart three lives.

  • @adrianap102 okay first off you need to know that there are three people that are sort involve in this story so the two main characters james Mcavoy who plays Robbie Turner who is in love with Keira Knightley character Cecilia Tallis. Okay so Cecilia little sister is in love with the guy robbie turner. she becomes Jelous over the fact that he does not notice her since obviously she is a little young for him so she says that he raped her or touched when in fact that it is not true.

  • @adrianap102 Sorry i explianed wrong earlyer its been awhile since I last saw it. Briony the littles sister see something and accuses her sister lover but he is innocent, but in my oppion she did it becuase she was jelous of her sister and her lover. You'll understand if you see the movie. Anyways I suggest you watch it, it is really good but make sure to have a box of tissues by you. It quit unexpected ending just really well made movie.

  • @tinkertoes1000 Directors always gives different views of some things, i think that's what the Joe Wright wants us to believe you know? that Briony didi it out of jealousy(i thought that too when i saw the movie) but if you read the book you can see that she was actually convinced he was guilty.

  • @Maggielicious21 You know I have always had the book but I never got the chance to read it but I ended up watching the movie. Oh that explians a lot!

  • @MsMissSunday hiya read the book first, i saw the movie and well at first i found it a bit slow to get into, but the book on the other hand is brilliant so if you watch the movie first it might put you off the book, but dont get me wrong the movie is still really good.

  • so what did the little girl see??

  • read the book first or just watch the movie?

  • i totally recommend this movie, no boring storyline at all. I didnt lose attention at any time throughout the movie. Beautifully put together, but so sad

  • excelent movie

  • OMG 1:17 :,(

  • @chicafob93 yes !!! :'(...

  • @chicafob93 X-Ray Dog Breathing Space

  • I finished reading this 5 minutes ago, i watched this trailer and burst into tears it's gorgeous

  • oh god. i cried so hard at the end of this movie. the last scene was heartbreaking. every moment was beautifully crafted, and absolutely breathtaking.

  • one of best romance movie ever made

  • CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE SONG IS CALLED AT THE END?! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!

  • @ThouShallNotBeHornyy X-ray dog " The Vision"

  • @MrAnabd THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

  • X-Ray Dog "the vision"

  • I cant bring myself to watch this movie, im a sucker for romance but when its really sad, and you have a feeling about whats going to happen at the end, and you hate it when the two main characters are pulled apart, and its not their fault ! you feel like screaming , its especially hard not to go and buy this movie when my two favorite actors Keira Knightly since "Pride&Prejudice" and James Mcavoy "Becoming Jane" are in it. two movies which i felt deserved Oscars ! Just like this one As well .

  • I've searched the comments but I still couldn't find the name of the song starting around 1:30.. When he talks about joining the army.. Does anyone know, please?

  • this movie made me cry sooooo muc it was so sad and just plain brilliant

  • Someone told me this is a chick flick. I don't think it is. It's quite captivating and interesting. After seeing it once it is in my top 5, if not my favorite movie of all time. It doesn't have the Hollywood hype or feeling about it and I consider it a masterpiece of our time. I'm surprised it didn't win Best Picture. It's far from the crap Hollywwod pukes out normally.

  • @MrRightNow469 It's not a chick flick!

  • This movie is so brutal and tragic yet somehow so beautiful. I had no idea what happened in the end, but when it came about...my goodness it took my breath away :(

A film that everyone needs to see...

  • This movie is sublime.

  • ahh say why is their love forbidden again? i haven't watched the movie yet still about to watch it NO SPOILERS pls if the reason of why their love is forbidden is a spoiler then don't bother answering my question ^^

  • @petter830: Their love is not "forbidden" - but forces beyond their control make it impossible for them to be together. There's a difference.

  • LOVED the movie!!! Such a great story with a terrific plot!!! The actors gave an awesome performance!! I recommend it.

  • Absolute fantastic movie:D

  • i wannnaa seee it

  • BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME

  • I think that instead of "Separated by war", would be better "Separated by Briony"

  • James McAvoy has to be one of the most charming men on screen. His eyes are so captivating...the way he looks at his on screen romances makes you believe that the lucky co-star is the only one in his universe. I was stunned when I saw this movie. It was heartbreaking and beautiful it left me breathless and misty eyed. A masterpiece of this generations film making.

  • @butterflywinter omg i KNOW. He's like that in Penelope, as well.. He's gorgeous.

  • @butterflywinter Hey don't forget about Keira Knightley, stunning woman as well. One wouldn't work without the other.

  • James McAvoy <3

  • Anywhere I can watch this online without downloading it?

  • By far, one of saddest books I've ever read. Excellent author.

  • Do they finally end up together? How does it end?
