Same tired ass "reefer madness" hogwash. Don't these morons realise how far ahead of them the public is? People KNOW it's not a gateway drug, and that it doesn't kill brain cells or cause lung cancer. People KNOW about the health benefits. People KNOW nobody has ever overdosed or died as a direct result of smoking pot. These politicians on THAT side of the debate need to wake up and smell the 21st century.
Go Martin Walsh...the crowd pushing for legalization has no concept of the damage drug use is causing in our communities. "When will they ever learn." YOU know what you're talking about, they don't.
Don't be so ignorant. Mr Walshes view is so narrow minded that he is going against his constituents and the medical community. I understand that he believes what he's doing is right but he's a representative for the people and if he won't do his job then he needs to be removed. Since he offered no facts to back up his rambling he should probably refrain from speaking in public. Douche!
You're calling me "ignorant" but you don't know how to use the singular possessive? I am sure that teachers told you: it's "Walsh's." But then, maybe you were distracted by other things when you should have been learning.
I know the damage, why I want it legalized. How many can't get a job because they have CORI's? I know! Go Walsh? Prohibition creates more problems and addicts! Some like Martin Walsh can't handle certain substances, they need rehab. But how do you say prohibition works when the country that has waged the war the most has the most drug problems? THE USA. Cigarette use in MA is down for teens & adults. Nobody arrested to make that happen. And pot use in MA? Skyrocketing before decrim.
Nothing personal against Representative Walsh, I'm sure he's a nice guy and I know people who like him. I don't hate the guy. But he was preaching some reefer madness here and basically saying that people he doesn't know are crazy for supporting rational policy. It's not about Martin Walsh but the ideas and solutions. Mr. Walsh on this day offered no solutions on this.. But people go crazy on pot! which is a falsehood for the vast majority..
Did I just hear "In my district, more than 1/2 of my constituents voted in favor of the decriminalization of the possession of marijuana, and I'm going to do everything I can to kill it?"
In what world is this good representative government?!
this guys a fucking donkey, VOTE YES ON MARIJUANA IN MASS. its not 1 oc its not a small bag of heroin. its 1 ounce of pure happiness. id rather see people smoking a joint, going out and driving a car, rather than someone drinking 15 beers and going out and driving a car. but alcohol is legal? i love both of them and dont recommend driving on either but VOTE YES
My Father and most of the family are alcoholics or junkies, i hate alcohol really nasty Legal drug its certainly ruined my dads life and wasn't much fun to grow up round.I would have defo prefferred my dad to have been a pot head any day!!!
So rather then turn out like him i chose pot im not saying its got no bad side effects ive been smoking it over 10 years and im suspicious as hell lol..
Updated the info "About This Video" section with links to two places that will get you the emails, phone numbers of your elected reps. Just plug in your address and go. The NORML link is the easiest to find, and use a ready to go email to send it over instantly. If you live in MA, contact your reps, hit the links.
This guy has no clue about human nature, patients, the sick, prisoners, drugs, alcohol etc etc, he had no reference to where he got those pat statements and just lost over half of his voters for not researching a very important issue, I wouldn't vote for him purely because he did not make a decent effert to find out about marijuana, and WHO created it and why.
It was a hearing. There is a marijuana decrim ballot initiative that will likely be on the state ballot and binding for the Nov. Presidential Election in Massachusetts. The State House can pass their own bill before that time, one bill has been passed through their committee. So they take testimony from all sides on it and we wait to see. The ballot initiative in November is huge. VOTE YES.
I don't care what the issue is, but if the majority of your constituents support something you have an obligation to vote for it as a legislator. This guy is like dick cheney on the fact that 2/3 of americans are against the war in iraq "So". what happened to a government of, for, and by THE PEOPLE. It's called democracy. And opposing a ballot initiative being on the ballot is undemocratic. And dorchester is a poor area where people are racially profiled and ARE put in jail for possession.
Gateway drug? I keep hearing this. Is there any research to back this up? Is the more hard drug use in areas where Marijuana has been legalized or decriminalized? (Amsterdam for instance)
Research backs up that marijuana is not a gateway drug. Amsterdam teens and adults use drugs less than Americans. Most of the millions that have used marijuana in America did not go onto harder drugs. I didn't. And neither did most of the baby boomer generation before me. 100 million + Americans have used marijuana and less than 1 in 100 have gone on to harder drugs..
1 in 100 is a very lowball guesstimate on my part. Alcohol, coffee, tea, aspirin, cold medicine, candy, sugar, tobacco, sex, are all likely to have higher numbers who used them first ending on heroin. There is no link between those things but some folks & booze. marijuana stops most from going on to harder drugs. Why bother? Cannabis=the best. I like to drink a few beers but never really to get drunk. Call me a Mary. Who needs more than good bud?
Problem's Pot should be a form of $. I for one would love to be able to pay someone a gram of pot to cut my lawn. Spices/natural products are as good as gold. Pot threatens fiat $ & control. Sugar has more negative effects us then pot. If anything the chemicals that are included within the rolling paper kill us. The glue & other chemicals come at a cost, create profit for chem. industry.
So, if I smoke a joint, I'm going to run out & want to do oxy's or crack or herion?.(Gateway)..hmmm I'v BEEN SMOKING POT FOR 22 years & never have I wanted to go out & do oxy's or crack or herion, because I smoked a joint or two. F*CKIN PROPOGANDA BULL SH*T!!But I tell you this for a fact, that pot is a gateway to icecream.
Is this Rep. Walsh an elected representative of the people, particularly the 57% who wanted decriminalization of marijuana, or an autocratic dictator. New research actually shows marijuana to imped desires for harder drugs. Concentrated marijuana oil is the best kept health secret. Do some research.
Wow....ok. I feel so sorry for you Mike....having to sit there and listen to this steaming pile of crap. I'm a christain, never did drugs in my life, and even I can acknowledge this ridiculous war on "Marijuana" (It's really called Cannabis but we'll let the anti-marijuana folks have that one). The war o drugs in general has failed.
Mr. Governor, if you have not been presented with a good case, I'll call ya' and we can set somethin' up. I'll happily school you in the reality of "Marijuana".
Certifiable lunatic, our jails are overcrowding as it is and this douche can't make the connection between our drug laws and our filled to capacity prisons.

"Drugs are illegal, so they're bad!"
Alcohol is a more harmful drug than Marijuana.
And Marijuana is not a gateway drug, That is nothing more than a logic fallacy... -_-
How can people STILL use that horribly outdated piece of BS?

Um, except those that aren't. Like aspirin, alcohol, caffeine...
"Marijuana and Alcohol are not the same thing."
But I guess 1 ounce of weed is equal to 1 "oxycontin pill" and "a little bit of heroin"?
Forget using logic.
