Well he was cut by the Colts today, so back to the drawing board.
I'm holding out faith that Harbaugh will want to "kick the tires" on Nate, but I know it's a long shot. Wish he could it put it together and show some coaches what he showed us.
Bengals could use him, who the hell is their QB anyway?
@velveteatably Honestly I think Manning might be the best thing that could happen to him. He has a the talent in the world but very little work ethic. If the Colts can get him motivated, he could be a find.
lol 3 months and I still can't believe the bulls*** that the Niners fans spit out of their mouths. I liked the kid but Nate Davis has no NFL potential whatsoever, just raw physical talent. Where's Pat White now? Troy Smith? Stop drooling over physical specimens and look at the intangibles. And yeah I agree that Alex is not the future but he's just a bridge for next year.
@SmileyJetson all the proof is right there, idk what you have to do to prove yourself, the only reason people are doubting him is because he came from a small conference the MAC which gives out great NFL QBs for example ben rothlisberger , and he has a learning disability but he said so himself its only with school he has never had a problem learning the plays, if he had that big of a disability he wouldn't have even played in college
@JimmyV95 People doubt him now because TWO teams have now shown him the door. I think he has the Physical tools and you can work around the dyslexia. You can't work around poor work habits tho especially when you need to work twice as hard with his disability, The guy gained like 20 or 30 pounds DURING the season. Uacceptable...and a shame really. H'e physically gifted.
If you were in Nate's shoes, wherein you went toe-to-toe with A. Smith and knew without a doubt that you were better than someone, you would lose some motivation. If he remained on the team, not the practice squad, you'd be under close watch and also a play away from being called into the game (thus maintaining fitness level) . Instead, boneaded Sing releases you, you're now on the practice squad and you get to watch Carr make $5 million for doing squat.
1 more thing. You're right though, fitness is your breadwinner, you must maintain it. If I were him, I'd get in best shape of life , show up to open tryouts for 49ers and let Harbaugh see you in the flesh (regardless of being let go). Colin isn't ready yet and Smith is well....maybe a good coach one day. He should go out and snatch the job in front of the first offensive coach in SF, since Mooch.
Once Nate Davis emerses himself into Pete Carrolls philosophy like Mike Williams. This guy will Tear Wholes in the NFC West .
Other than Cam Newton this guy has more talent then any other QB on the board.
About his learning disability/work ethic.....didnt the Niners have 4 O.C.s in like 4-5 years. The 9er franchise was falling apart!? Hass can coach him up.
Singletary was not an offensive minded headed coach by any respect. Singletary sucked because he didn't know what plays to call etc. etc. This was the crappy system Nate was brought into and thankfully got out. Lets hope Nate gets his head on straight up here in Seattle. When he does, Seahawks will be Dangerous . He has way better ability than Glasselbeck .
1 mo thang, to all you commenting on Nate's dyslexia and learning curve, you don't know what you're talking about. I have a slight case of dyslexia as well. You have to implement a system to follow to combat it. In a college bowl game, I saw a team using large cardboard with pics on it to get play to QB. This would help Nate, but what he really needs, is a coach who's willing to teach him in a different way. He would need a specialist to come in and figure out his own system for memorization.
NFL teams dont put much resources into players with learning disabilitites. Your not going to see NFL teams holding up cardborads with plays. I really like N.Davis. He has talent and dyslexia just like Joe Montana, but we didnt have Bill Walsh to give him superior teaching like we gave Joe. I thought Jim Harbaugh might want to keep him, but word is he didnt work hard enough on his own in the off-season, and gained weight while he was on the Pratice Squad. Red flags for a QB....
I guess that proves just how adept Walsh was. If he saw raw talent, he would figure out how you ticked and worked that extra mile to translate that to his plan. It's a double standard in my eyes, when you had that story reported from a year or two ago, when 49ers had a psychiatrist interview a top QB who was in the draft.
Got under my skin that Sing basically tarnished Nate's rep. I would always bet the opposite of a guy who passed on P. Willis, Shaun Hill, Nate Davis Hue Jackson,MikeM
Yeah I know what you mean. Sing had no business giving his evaluation on what N.Davis needed as a QB. He should have never been allowed to make that P.S move. The rumor is M.Johnson liked N.Davis as the starter over Smith, but Raye like Smith because of his playbook knowledge. Raye felt threaten by M.Johnson as the guy who could take his job, so he told Sing N.Davis doesnt know the offense, to make Johnson look dumb for suggesting N.Davis as the starter.
I heard M. Johnson was lobbying for Nate too, but if your story is true, that's really sad. Sad that politics played such a factor in getting our team better. You'd think with your job on the line, you'd roll the dice. Plus, if you decide to fire the guy (Raye), then why wouldn't you go with Mike's QB of choice? The current QB's in this years' draft are pretty garbage, multiply that with the poss. lockout, Nate would've been a low risk choice who could really shock the Niner nation.
@luzleaf There were rumors of M.Johson being held out of meetings and game plans because of his stance on N.Davis. He was being left out, so Sing made him responsible for getting the play calls to the QB from the O.C. Thats when the Yahoo report came out about Raye not being able to get his plays in on time and not saying the full play. This was after N.Davis release. N.Davis was a victim of poor coaching and dysfunction. Thats why Sing brought in Troy and blamed N.Davis work ethic...
You work behind the Red & Gold curtain bro? I've been trying to get the real story for a minute, never thought I'd get it from utube. The fact that Baalke passed on something this good has me worried about his scouting abilities. This is the crap that kids pull, not grown men who are coaching pros. By your account, it sounds like Sing was punishing Mike J. by not letting him have his guy. Mike J. should've gone to Jed and told him that there was 2 differing opinions on staff.
Its the reports that came out from unknown sources on Yahoo.com. In Jed recent comments about finding a GM and H.C, he kept saying they need to be on the same page with good communication. Because we didnt have that with Sing and Balke. There was rumors of Balke going behind Sings back before he was GM, telling Jed York, Singletary doesnt know what hes doing. The team had no structure, organization or real football leader.
The F.O, just cleaned house of anybody who was involved in that power struggle, and went out and got the hottest H.C on the market, to make fans and players forget what they experienced, which was probably one of the lowest points in 49ers history. They redeemed themselves by finding a H.C, who used to be a QB, and can also so develop one. Plays will get called in on time, no power struggles with the H.C/O.C, only one person will have final say on the starter, and gamplanning will be better.
@lostplace44 Honestly, as much as I hate the 'Hawks, I hope his work ethic does improve. He's got the physical tools, but he's never really had it between the ears. He learns very slowly and doesn't work very hard. He also let himself get WAY out of shape. He was a fan favorite in SF, but he will need a complete attitude readjustment in Seattle to have any chance at a career.
He looked raw. His throw was tight and quick, a good throwing mechanics. Good at short to medium passing, especially at the slant and crossing routes. He didn't go far beyond 1st and 2nd reading and his deep balls were not seen much (perhaps, the 49ers didn't call for a deep route). He had a tendency to force ill-advised throwing into double coverage.
In short, he could be developed further under tutelage of a good QB coach. Perhaps a bit like Matt Hasselbeck when he came to Seattle.
@bonenk Nah...he doesn't have Hasslebecks intelligence. Nate has alot of physical characteristics that make you think he could really be something. As a pure thrower, he's fantastic. Its all that other stuff tho where he really struggles.
did you watch this vid only halfway? The throw against Cowboys, watch it again. He's got 3 dudes on his tail ready to get a safety and he chucks it like it's a Coke can, right on target to Hill, who drops it. This play was done exactly the same this season 2010 (pre-season) vs. Vikings. I was sitting behind end zone so I had his vision and this time Ted Ginn Jr. hauled it in. I don't see how Harbaugh can watch film of this dude and not want to coach him.
Unless the Seahawks have a good QB teacher, N.Davis is going to take a long time to learn that offense, with his learning disability. He wasnt going to work out for us now that we have a much more complex system to run. I wish him the best, but if Harbaugh, the guy who learned the W.C offense from the great B.Walsh himself doesnt see any potential in him, thats fine with me. Good kid, needs to prove he wants to be an NFL QB by putting in extra work in the off-season.
@k2snowboarder50 Ask yourself a question. The 49ers have only David Carr on their roster yet they chose not to offer Nate Davis a futures contract to keep him on the roster. What does that tell you?
Well I guess the answer to my above question is "NO". Too bad. It appears he'll be signing with Seattle pending a Physical. It sounds alot like Scot McGloughan his bringing "his guys" to Seattle.
Bill Walsh would've handed him the throne years ago. I hope Jim Harbaugh is lobbying Trent to sign him for 2011. Watch how great he can evade the pass rush and throw accurately off his back foot, not even Mike Vick throws this accurate off his back foot.
so the only problem with nate is he doesnt know the playbook right?, well thats no reason why he cant get some reps in now and than, i mean look at his throws, just amazing spirals, quick smooth passes. damn id pick this dude over smith any day
@sushithekid No. Not knowing the playbook is indicative of the larger problem. He is dislexic which makes it very difficult to learn the playbook. Additionally, even with that learning disability, he didn't put in the effort to learn the playbook. On top of that, after he lost his roster spot to Troy Smith (and was signed to the practice squad), he cemented his fate by getting out of shape and gaining a bunch of weight DURING the season.
im so sick of hearing about "learning disability" nate davis is FINE. im from the muncie indiana area. watched him in high school and at ball state. the guy is amazing. the problem is singletary. put a real coach behind davis and YOU WILL WINN nate davis is flat out amazing. extreme high football iq. very fast and good decisions. passes always on target no matter how close or deep
Singletary relys too much on his assistants and coordinators, largely because he cant teach any Xs and Os himself. He doesnt know what hes doing, hes doesnt know what his coordinators are doing, he wouldnt know if his players were doing right or wrong. He cant correct his teams mistakes. That is why he imposes his run the ball philosophy, its all he knows. Theres no accountability within the the organziation with this structure. Fans blame H.C, H.C blame O.Cs ,O.C blame players, its a circus.
Alot of fans felt like N.Davis was a victim of inept coaching. N.Davis runs a play, but not accoring to the script. Sing ask what happened? J.Raye says he doest know the playbook, but later in the season we found out that J.Raye wasnt even getting the plays in on time, and mumbles them in the Mic. Sing believed him because he doesnt know any better and cut him, but N.Davis was at the facility all off-season, how harder can he work with a learning disability? Classic example of inept coaching..
I'm not even sure about a DC, maybe a "consultant", his problem is, he doesn't know how to manage a group, he knows how to manage an individual. His whole mindset seems to be "If our guys play their positions better than the other guys play their positions, we win." When in reality, you have to craft on offense based off of the opponent's weaknesses, not your teams strengths.
Or rather, i should say, not your 'player's' strengths. That's why we're so inconsistent, these 49ers have not been conditioned to be a unit, they've been conditioned to be individual players who need to "play good".
@standinstann yea i see what you mean, i mean no matter how much film he watches, he still doesn't know what to do, also hes very conservative with the ball
@MrVadivelu its easy the same way he took out troy smith who didnt even know the playbook even tho thru 5 games troy smith was 3 wins 2 losses and alex smith is 2 and 6 thru 8games everybody always complains aboutalex havingdifferent ocs in his years as a niner dude troy was with us for 4 mos and his 2nd game in vs the rams had 356 yds passing singletary=idiot and ur right nate davis is fuckin awsome preseason vs the vikings theannouncers weregiving dude all kinds of props and that 60 yard thro
Nate Davis has a pretty touch pass, and throws a nice deep ball. I don't think he's been given the opportunity that he deserves. Singletary says he doesn't know the playbook? I think it's just something personal. I like Singletary, but he has proven that he plays favorites. How many mistakes is Alex Smith allowed to make? How many was Davis allowed to make?
That's unfortunate to see him get cut, but if he puts the work in he'll get some looks from other teams. It's good to see troy smith finally get a shot though. It seems so often that these great college quarterbacks drafted outside of the top 10 take a few years to finally get a starting spot. He'll get his shot
@FrazzledOne23 —Actually, Nate never left the Niners —He was demoted to the practice squad when they brought in Troy Smith —I agree with smilekeith that it's a personal issue with Singletary, rather than the playbook or, his supposed learning disability —Frankly, I think this kid has the best feel for the position of anyone on the team —If the Niners were smart they'd get rid of Carr, bring Nate back on the squad as the 3rd string back-up —Keep Alex as back-up til season's end —Then dump him...
@AwaTu I agree. I never understood why he got demoted to practice squad. i understand for troy smith, but why not get rid of carr? you demote a young Prospect ,who in my oppinion looked the best in 2 consecutive preseasons, and keep some crappy ass veteran. Just doesnt make any sense to me.
@ EcEryda69 So you are saying that the coach and qb who led us to a 1 and 6 start are genius? That noone should question any decision they make? I am a die hard niners fan, and it's not hard to tell that Sing is a TERRIBLE HC he doesn't know the X's and O's or how to manage the clock signing Carr was a bad decision cutting nate Davis was a worse decision, i don't think he should necessarily start over Troy Smith or Alex Smith but to put Carr on the team over him was a bad idea.
Our season is almost mathematically over, why not give this guy a chance? he knows the offense better then troy smith or carr, and he has a really strong arm which allows him to get passes to his receivers even when he's back pedaling... After everyone was praising him for having a good preseason game, singletary thought his performance was awful and cut him... i'm starting to believe that singletary was more mad at the fact that Davis wasn't being as conservative as Sing wanted him to
Sing and J.Raye wanted a puppet to run their offense. Some one who will play conservative and play safe, do what the their told. Thats not the kind of QB N.Davis is. He plays safe, but he also takes risks down the field, because he trust's his abilities to put the ball where only his Wrs can get it.
Sing didnt want an explosive offense, so he blasted N.Davis in front of the world and made up bogus story about how he didnt work hard enough in the off-season....B.S
Hes a very talented kid. I hope he stays with the team next year and works his way back up to the active roster. Our coaching staff just is experienced enough to teach some one like N.Davis. B.Walsh wasnt scared of J.Montana dyslexia, he knew there were risks, but the reward was much bigger. He gave him snaps here and there to get his feet wet. That is the same approach we should have taken with Nate. But in a must win year, he was looked at as more of long term plan for the next coaching staff.
Look at us now. 1-5 with 11 games left. No team has ever made the playoff from 0-4. This could have been good game experience to see what N.Davis has or see if we should draft a QB next year. We're going to win some meaningless games this season with A.Smith and get a bad draft, and miss out A.Luck or Lockler. This organization is pathetic. We need to get rid of Sing, Smith, get Gruden as the H.C , B.Parcells as the GM, bring up N.Davis and draft A.luck next year.
Sadly enough, the situation is beyond repair. M.Johnson liked N.Davis, but J.Raye liked A.Smith's knowledge of the system. With N.Davis being cut, it shot down M.Johnson's credibility to scout talent in QBs, so J.Raye wouldnt have to worry about his job. Singletary doesnt know a thing about offense and depends on his O.Cs to tell him what correct or not. So he sided with J.Raye, plus he doesnt want explosiveness in his offense. J.Raye blew N.Davis's chance to move up to #2
in order to make his job more secure. Yahoo rumors says M.Johnson was kept of certain meetings because of his strong support of N.Davis, which divided the coaching staff between the QB, coach play caller and O.C. M.Johson felt left out. so to make him feel apart of the team, the made him the playcaller. Then all of a sudden, our playcalling starts to struggle, as Johnson could not tell A.Smith what J.Raye was saying correctly. Too many problems went unsolved to keep J.Raye so he was fired.
N.Davis became the victim of a power struggle. To bring him back would admit that there was some sort of rift raft between the QB coach and O.C. It would also mean that Sing was wrong about Smith and M.Johnson was right the whole time but nobody listened to him. Thats why they brought in T.Smith. To clear up the conspiracy and hide the truth.
In the end, I just dont Sing and Raye wanted the onus of trying to teach a kid with a learning disability, and being responsible for the unknown results.
@YBRR88 I agree that whole thing was awfully fishy,, I almost think if Davis played worse he would be the 3rd string QB. Singletary must have been feeling some kind of a push to consider Davis, and Sing didn't like it, so he pushed the kid as far away from the opportunity as possible, and got all mellodramatic, he damaged Nate Davis'es playing career, hopefully sing gets axed, and they put the young man in, that would be kharma.
Nate was release Monday, but as of today (Wednesday) is back on in the practice squad.
This is a good scenario, because not only do we have 3 QB's that could probably be something, but now Nate will be able to have a second chance to develop on the practice squad.
Please quit responding to me if your trying to arguement down about Nate. I am not down degrading him, I am going by what I have not seen in a regular season game. I am not going to give him something that he has not shown in a regular season game. In this day and age when players look good against 2nd and 3rd stringers it is different when you try to do that against 1st stringers and when they show the teams d scheme. Thats what people are trying to say about Tim Tebow.
I wonder if you're a 9ers fan, cause we've been through some QB's in our days. Got Montana, Young, Garcia... then a barrage of many different ones till then. We know a good QB when we see one. That's why us 9ers fans who get excited over Davis, cause we can clearly see he has ability. Haven't seen him fall apart yet. But, in the recent SD game we have. In that game he showed us how he can be unprogressive. But, in the end, he also showed us how he can pick himself up out of that mess.
@MikeDecipher 1st off do not ever question my loyalty to my favorite team. Unlike you all, I go by what is done on the field as well as if there are setbacks to why someone is not where they are. That is called research. I never do John Madden Scenarios. The 9er faithful are blessed to have outstanding QB's, but they did it in the regular season. Thats it. Whatever you say to me is not making sense because as far as I know they produced in the regular season.
I was wondering if you're a 9ers fan because I didn't know. But I saw your regular page just now and now I know. Didn't mean for you to take it that way, sry.
But I'm just not one of those people who are convinced that production is full evidence of being able to win playoff games. Hill brought us in some wins and a great game against the Vikings, but even though he produced well, I doubt he'd ever be able to win a playoff game. I think Davis is a different story.
@MikeDecipher I am thinkin about doin the p90. I listen to Petros and Money show and they endores that way to much. Look my opinion is that going to really go after week 5. That will tell me if Alex is really what the coaching staff wants him tobe. IF the offense can be consistant, as well as if they fixed the Corner position. They really did not address that. We as 9er fans are debating back and forth about Alex but the Corner position is a weak link. REAL Weak.
Well I agree we really don't know what to expect from Alex this year... Do you think our new O-linemen will bring some surprises in opening some holes for Gore?
You say our corners are weak. We have no major changes in our d from last year right? I mean, I know we weren't the best in pass defense last year, but our defense as a whole was more than average, and as long as our offense can manage to be consistent in its improvements, we should be much better than last year, right?
@MikeDecipher The secondary is a concern to me. The D as a whole I like, but the Secondary is not strong. The Corners are suspect. They allowed way to many 300 yard passers, VY to have a game against them passing the ball. Your bringing Nate back and he has not lived up to the contract. Thats why I am more worried about that then Anything else. The OLine will gell so hell thats all gravy to me. With Mike and Davis as some young maulers I love it. Its the Secondary that scares me.
I think you're right though. My brother has been talking a lot about our secondary pass defense. I wonder if we have any focus at all in making those repairs.
@MikeDecipher Nate can probably get there but until he does I am not going to give it to him. Nate can have the better arm, and..... WTF are you talking about Nate has not fell apart in a game. When did Nate get into a regular season game and not break down under pressure? See your coming at me wiht BS and not backing it up. Joe, Steve, and Jeff are in a league of their own. Don't compare NAte to them because he has not gotten there yet. I guess JJ Stokes was supposed ot be the next JErry Rice?
He's a good reason to be excited, and also a good reason to have more hope for the 9ers. We just need to give him enough time and make sure he's properly prepared, and if he can find a way to work past that dyslexia, then I'm sure we may have another all-star QB on our roster.
We're probably going to the playoffs this year without him anyways. All I hope is that we do so our fresh seeded team can get some playoff experience, and that Nate Davis can get some regular game experience to.
@MikeDecipher From what i read on nfl.com it seems like the plan is to get Nate some regular season this year. Coach Singletary says he hope Nate can contribute this year and not just sit on the sideline waiting for the season to end.
I read an article yesterday on nfl.com, Coach Singletary says he hope Nate can contribute this year and not just wait on the sideline for the offseason to come around. Hope this mean Nate gets to play some this year.
Wow you all got this Nate DAvis QB of the future from speculation. No matter what this whole thing.... Fuck up believe what you want. I am not going to hype myself on speculation and what ifs. Thats what disappoints fans. On the real.
@jfliguy People are going off what they see, a 5th round pick with a promising future. Everybody knows hes not ready to start, but they can also see with hard work and time to learn the playbook, he can become a stating QB. Will he be the future? Who knows, but if he continues to progress, than you have to consider that as a possibility. Just imagine if Smith has a decent year and Nate continues to progress...
Y your hoping that it happens. Thats the thing. In noway have Singletary or the other coaches has came out and said that. I do not go by anything or implying because that sets you up. IF you want to think that Nate is going to do it without having tohave it translate into the regular season then by all means do it. I know that shit like that sets people up to fail. As long as we both have gone back and forth, have you seen me to say something like that. So we will always not agree with it that.
You can throw a ball 70 yards (Kyle Boller, Jamarcus Russell) but that does not mean it translate to being a great or potential player. I hope Nate is a good pro, but until it translate into the regular season I am not getting a boner over potential. Ask the Cleveland Brown fans about Brady Quinn.
@jfliguy He has great instincts and decision making abilities of a John Elway. He just needs to learn the playbook. That's what is keeping him from starting!!!
@TheEntertainmentonly You just compared someone who has not played a down in the NFL to someone who has earned that what your attempting to give to Nate. Your arguement still is not convincing me. When he can do that in the REGULAR SEASON or the Coaching staff says all this that you all think he is then I will go with it. Until then like I have been saying Nate has not earned it and I am sure he believes it to.
@jfliguy I'm not disputing that!!! I'm stating that he'll be that type of player when he fulfills his potential!!! He's a better QB than Alex Smith or David Carr. They don't have great instincts or intangibles. I don't care if you play thirty pre-season games and no regular season games. Great instincts is great instincts!!!
@TheEntertainmentonly Int he end your not convincing me or orpving a point. You are going by a preseason game and your making it seem like that translate to a better QB. To me that does nto mean he is better than Alex or David. He may have better "tools" but in the end that does not mean he is a better player. In the end when Nate plays a real meaningful down in the NFL then we can talk. Until then your just hoping and wishing. That will set you up to fail
@jfliguy The tools are essential to a great quarterback. He just needs to change his attitude. By the way, I've never seen Alex Smith or David Carr look that great in pre-season games... and their solid quarterbacks!!!! The point I'm trying to make is that Nate Davis will succeed in the NFL because of the essentials!! If he doesn't pan out, it'll probably be because of a lack of work ethic or bad attitude!!!
@TheEntertainmentonly Your still going on hoping and potential. Your saying because he showed his ass in PreSeason that means he is a better player than Alex or David? That makes no sense because what I am saying isbecause he has a better arm does not mean he is a better player. I go by what I see in the regular season. How about this? What is Nates Regular season record? Has he taken the 9ers to the bowl? You can't answer it because he has not played. When he does then we cna talk.
@jfliguy Just listen to the comments Nate received during the Viking game, the commentators says he has quick feet, good pocket present, makes quick decisions, has a quick release, and a cannon of an arm. All these great qualities are missing from Alex Smith and David Carr.
@xengvang80 One thing is this, Commentators don't mean shit to mean becuase they are a bunch of ass kissers. I watch the game, I also go by what I see IN THE REGULAR SEASON WHEN IT MATTERS. Nate has not done that. I do not care what you think about Alex or David. Thats on you, but when Nate can translate all that into a regular season game, I am not going to stroke his scrotes like you all are doing. Thats on the real. What does Coach Singletary say about him? What has he said? Thank you.
@jfliguy Coach Singletary just said in a conference call a couple of days ago that the 49ers sees the potential in Nate and have given him the time to develope by giving him a spot on the 53 man roster. He also says that he hope Nate can contribute this year and not just sit on the sideline and wait for the off season.
@xengvang80 You can have allthe potential inthe world. That does not mean dick in the regular season. Again your not seeing what I am getting at. IF you want to get high on potential and possiblies then go ahead. IF (and I mean a big IF) Nate comes in and is nto what you expect then I know for a fact fans who are stroking him will start calling him all names inthe books. In the end Nate has not shown anything inthe REGULAR SEASON!!!!
YBRR88 i feel you i really like the kid i just think we just need to let him develop, but the reason im worry about him is jimmy ray is not getting any younger we may get a new OC in the near future and we have a team in place to win now just need a qb that can produce...if alex dont do great and jimmy leave after this year our window for a ring get a little smaller
Thats why we have M.Johnson the QB coach. Hes being trained to become our playcaller if J.Raye doesnt stay here next year, so we can keep the same system and build some continuity. He has a younger mind, and went back to college to study the new trends in offensive schemes for a few years.
Some of nate throws went over the WRs head, on one quick slant the WR couldnt even attempt to jump to get the ball because it was to high. On 3rd and 7 he didnt see anything made a good run but then fall down without getting touch to make 4th and 1
People need to really watch the game again, nate have a great arm but you can see he just not developing faster mentally like he should have, nate even say he have about 3/4 of the playbook down and he have trouble with calling the protection out (which is a big deal). You have to ask your self why...he should have learn this last year, he even said he should have put more time into getting ready he should not still be learning.
Hes not going to call out the coach to the media and tell them hes wrong. He has been at the 49ers facility all off-season, and he agreed he didnt work as hards as he should. Remember, he has a learning disability and your not going to the playbook in 1 year as the 3rd string QB, especially if you dont get many reps in practice. Hes not ready, but if he work hard and gets deeper in the playbook, he should be fine. It usually takes Qbs 3 years to really learn a playbook anyway....
Nate is a good QB, knowing when to throw it away and avoiding being sacked with his agility. He also knows who to pass to and when to, giving good reason he should be a starter. Who agrees with me?
it's time to face the lynchers. Alex smith looked shard in first drive. i'm still not convinced he's good qb. we'll find out starting Sept. 12th. Nate Davis played well considering it was his first game vs # 2 team. he was 7-9 for 114 yards until the wrs dropped balls, blocking sucked, non threat m. robinson came in. for Singletary to highlight Nate's bad plays isn't fair. seemed like Nate doesn't have the long leash Alex has. all Nate has to do now is work the hardest.
A.Smith had a worst performance last week and Sing said he did ok, but, he feels the needs to chastise Nate about his work ethic in public, even though he did great??? What kind of H.C belittles his dyslexic 3rd string Qb in public??? I think its the complete opposite of what people are interpreting. The 49ers are trying to avoid Qb controversy, so he questioned Nates work ethic, in an effort to down play his progress.
Its a motivation tactic, and also a cover up to save their asses for not noticing his talent sooner. Tony Dunge had great things to say, Collins compared his deep ball to J.Elway and his pump fake to move the FS like P.Manning. There is NO WAY Sing could come to that conclusion after what those guys saw. You also have to factor in if he was to say things about Nate he never said about smith, we would definitley have a Qb controversy right now. It wouldnt have been fair to Smith but They liked it
@YBRR88 i thought he'd get pleased w/ ND's play then all of a sudden, work ethic being Qed, pointed out the yard short slide. nothing mentioned about the dropped passes, bad blocking towards the end, how ginn cut the route short in the endzone and how great he played in 1st 3 possesions. i didn't see plays that haters were hoping for showing ND went to the other way due to his dyslexia. i hope all sing's words won't hurt his confidence.
Thats why I think hes just trying to light a fire under his ass and make him realize the opportunity he has. No way would any H.C be that classless and chew out a player with dyslexia. He didnt question Balmers work ethic and he was 1st round pick, so why Nate? He must have higher expectations of him. He like what he sees talent wise, now he wants to see N.Davis display the work ethic it takes to play in this league. Nate needs to show that next off-season.
Singletary is hard on his players, and harder on the players who he believe can be great. The last player who he chastised publicly was V.Davis. Now he is the biggest threat we have on offense. Its how he motivates his players, he never lets his player heads get too big, always points out what they can do better. N.Davis has had people tell him he wont be anything all his life, Sing is just using what got him here: motivation to prove people wrong.
@YBRR88 Agreed 100%. Singletary KNOWS Nate Davis is the most skilled, and natural qb on the roster! Yes, he has a lot to learn, but, if he can learn the entire playbook, he our qb of the future, they'd be crazy to let him get away.
Honestly id like to see hill at #2 wr, because i believe he has the talent. AND ABILITY TO BE #2 WR. and i definitely think nate should be over carr, and possibly in contention for starting this or next season,. he has shown in this and last preseason he really has what it takes despite his dyslexia and unorthodox style.
I'd rather Davis be the backup than Carr (who they should cut) because if Smith doesn't establish himself as the starter this year than it is time for him to go. At that point you see what Davis has - unless they are somehow in a position to draft Jake Locker
However the real take away from this video is reconfirming to me that Jason Hill (89) should be our 3rd WR, maybe even challenge Josh Morgan. Every time I see Hill on the field (which is rare) he's making plays.
i am efing pump for Sunday's game vs the vikings. ND will play vs the 1st or 2nd team Defense. he will do great and SF's qb rankings will change. him taking #2 spot at least. i'm going to my backyard and dig a hole for Alex Smith's future. anybody wanna help me? where you at YBRR88?
@a9erSYKO Hell yea, If N.Davis best QB on the roster, then you got to put the best man on the field. The coaches are being smart about this. They want him to go up against starters so he can feel where the heat is coming from, where to expect the delayed blitz, when to make O-line adjustment and who is his hot Wrs in those situations. I got faith in N.Davis. He has everything you want in a Qb, and he passes the "eye ball test". Just need time against 1-2s so he can get a feel for the speed.
@MCCrowder no, i'm not filling it with Nate's career. you're just a hater. if you give this guy the same long ass leash like Alex, same Starting O-line and offensive weapons, and more reps to learn guaranteed 200% he'll do way better than your idol Smith.
Mayne I wonder if these players be lookin at youtube and seein themselves? Maybe someone should send this vid to Coach Sing cause if he can't see this talent than him and Stevie Wonder have alot in common! lol
@deathrange08 nooooooooooooo He should Stay with the Niners.. Stay stay stay. FOr me, i just see clear quick decision making abilities that Alex S..never quite has.
he's the real deal. straight up baller. strong arm.. great touch. if alex doesn't get his act together.. nate's the future..real quick release and read on defense.
It's so obvious that Nate has "It" I really hope the 49ers coaching staff is down playing his talent to keep it under wraps. If they really think Alex Smith is the long term QB then that will be the demise of the current coaching staff. Has #1 quarterback bust ever taken out 2 coaching staffs??????
after seeing alex play the way he did last week im convinced he will ALWAYS be a bum im cool with either carr or davis taking ove,r lets get this garbage out known as alex smith and kick some a** GO NINERS

If the Colts can get him motivated, he could be a find.
marvin49 6 months ago
lol 3 months and I still can't believe the bulls*** that the Niners fans spit out of their mouths. I liked the kid but Nate Davis has no NFL potential whatsoever, just raw physical talent. Where's Pat White now? Troy Smith? Stop drooling over physical specimens and look at the intangibles. And yeah I agree that Alex is not the future but he's just a bridge for next year.
SmileyJetson 7 months ago
@SmileyJetson all the proof is right there, idk what you have to do to prove yourself, the only reason people are doubting him is because he came from a small conference the MAC which gives out great NFL QBs for example ben rothlisberger , and he has a learning disability but he said so himself its only with school he has never had a problem learning the plays, if he had that big of a disability he wouldn't have even played in college
JimmyV95 6 months ago
@JimmyV95 People doubt him now because TWO teams have now shown him the door. I think he has the Physical tools and you can work around the dyslexia. You can't work around poor work habits tho especially when you need to work twice as hard with his disability, The guy gained like 20 or 30 pounds DURING the season. Uacceptable...and a shame really. H'e physically gifted.
marvin49 6 months ago
@marvin49
Instead, boneaded Sing releases you, you're now on the practice squad and you get to watch Carr make $5 million for doing squat.
luzleaf 6 months ago
@marvin49

Other than Cam Newton this guy has more talent then any other QB on the board.

IncorriGible82 1 year ago
1 mo thang, to all you commenting on Nate's dyslexia and learning curve, you don't know what you're talking about. I have a slight case of dyslexia as well. You have to implement a system to follow to combat it. In a college bowl game, I saw a team using large cardboard with pics on it to get play to QB. This would help Nate, but what he really needs, is a coach who's willing to teach him in a different way. He would need a specialist to come in and figure out his own system for memorization.
luzleaf 1 year ago
@luzleaf
YBRR88 1 year ago
@YBRR88
Willis, Shaun Hill, Nate Davis Hue Jackson,MikeM
luzleaf 1 year ago
@luzleaf
YBRR88 11 months ago
@YBRR88
The current QB's in this years' draft are pretty garbage, multiply that with the poss. lockout, Nate would've been a low risk choice who could really shock the Niner nation.
luzleaf 11 months ago
@luzleaf There were rumors of M.Johson being held out of meetings and game plans because of his stance on N.Davis. He was being left out, so Sing made him responsible for getting the play calls to the QB from the O.C. Thats when the Yahoo report came out about Raye not being able to get his plays in on time and not saying the full play. This was after N.Davis release. N.Davis was a victim of poor coaching and dysfunction. Thats why Sing brought in Troy and blamed N.Davis work ethic...
YBRR88 11 months ago
@YBRR88
Mike J. should've gone to Jed and told him that there was 2 differing opinions on staff.
luzleaf 11 months ago
@luzleaf
YBRR88 11 months ago
The F.O, just cleaned house of anybody who was involved in that power struggle, and went out and got the hottest H.C on the market, to make fans and players forget what they experienced, which was probably one of the lowest points in 49ers history. They redeemed themselves by finding a H.C, who used to be a QB, and can also so develop one. Plays will get called in on time, no power struggles with the H.C/O.C, only one person will have final say on the starter, and gamplanning will be better.
YBRR88 11 months ago
where is he now
49ermr 1 year ago
@lostplace44 Honestly, as much as I hate the 'Hawks, I hope his work ethic does improve. He's got the physical tools, but he's never really had it between the ears. He learns very slowly and doesn't work very hard. He also let himself get WAY out of shape. He was a fan favorite in SF, but he will need a complete attitude readjustment in Seattle to have any chance at a career.
marvin49 1 year ago
He looked raw. His throw was tight and quick, a good throwing mechanics. Good at short to medium passing, especially at the slant and crossing routes. He didn't go far beyond 1st and 2nd reading and his deep balls were not seen much (perhaps, the 49ers didn't call for a deep route). He had a tendency to force ill-advised throwing into double coverage.
In short, he could be developed further under tutelage of a good QB coach. Perhaps a bit like Matt Hasselbeck when he came to Seattle.
bonenk 1 year ago
@bonenk Nah...he doesn't have Hasslebecks intelligence. Nate has alot of physical characteristics that make you think he could really be something. As a pure thrower, he's fantastic. Its all that other stuff tho where he really struggles.
marvin49 1 year ago
@bonenk
did you watch this vid only halfway? The throw against Cowboys, watch it again. He's got 3 dudes on his tail ready to get a safety and he chucks it like it's a Coke can, right on target to Hill, who drops it. This play was done exactly the same this season 2010 (pre-season) vs. Vikings. I was sitting behind end zone so I had his vision and this time Ted Ginn Jr. hauled it in. I don't see how Harbaugh can watch film of this dude and not want to coach him.

@k2snowboarder50
YBRR88 1 year ago
@k2snowboarder50 Ask yourself a question. The 49ers have only David Carr on their roster yet they chose not to offer Nate Davis a futures contract to keep him on the roster. What does that tell you?
marvin49 1 year ago
Well I guess the answer to my above question is "NO". Too bad. It appears he'll be signing with Seattle pending a Physical. It sounds alot like Scot McGloughan his bringing "his guys" to Seattle.
marvin49 1 year ago
Bill Walsh would've handed him the throne years ago. I hope Jim Harbaugh is lobbying Trent to sign him for 2011. Watch how great he can evade the pass rush and throw accurately off his back foot, not even Mike Vick throws this accurate off his back foot.
so pissed 49ers aren't making him a priority.

so the only problem with nate is he doesnt know the playbook right?, well thats no reason why he cant get some reps in now and than, i mean look at his throws, just amazing spirals, quick smooth passes. damn id pick this dude over smith any day
sushithekid 1 year ago
@sushithekid No. Not knowing the playbook is indicative of the larger problem. He is dislexic which makes it very difficult to learn the playbook. Additionally, even with that learning disability, he didn't put in the effort to learn the playbook. On top of that, after he lost his roster spot to Troy Smith (and was signed to the practice squad), he cemented his fate by getting out of shape and gaining a bunch of weight DURING the season.
marvin49 1 year ago
im so sick of hearing about "learning disability" nate davis is FINE. im from the muncie indiana area. watched him in high school and at ball state. the guy is amazing. the problem is singletary. put a real coach behind davis and YOU WILL WINN nate davis is flat out amazing. extreme high football iq. very fast and good decisions. passes always on target no matter how close or deep
MIketucky350 1 year ago
Singletary relys too much on his assistants and coordinators, largely because he cant teach any Xs and Os himself. He doesnt know what hes doing, hes doesnt know what his coordinators are doing, he wouldnt know if his players were doing right or wrong. He cant correct his teams mistakes. That is why he imposes his run the ball philosophy, its all he knows. Theres no accountability within the the organziation with this structure. Fans blame H.C, H.C blame O.Cs ,O.C blame players, its a circus.
YBRR88 1 year ago
Alot of fans felt like N.Davis was a victim of inept coaching. N.Davis runs a play, but not accoring to the script. Sing ask what happened? J.Raye says he doest know the playbook, but later in the season we found out that J.Raye wasnt even getting the plays in on time, and mumbles them in the Mic. Sing believed him because he doesnt know any better and cut him, but N.Davis was at the facility all off-season, how harder can he work with a learning disability? Classic example of inept coaching..

ShadyCaveman568 1 year ago 2
@ShadyCaveman568
I'm not even sure about a DC, maybe a "consultant", his problem is, he doesn't know how to manage a group, he knows how to manage an individual. His whole mindset seems to be "If our guys play their positions better than the other guys play their positions, we win." When in reality, you have to craft on offense based off of the opponent's weaknesses, not your teams strengths.
standinstann 1 year ago
@standinstann
Or rather, i should say, not your 'player's' strengths. That's why we're so inconsistent, these 49ers have not been conditioned to be a unit, they've been conditioned to be individual players who need to "play good".

Get Nate in there, please.
smilekeith 1 year ago
That's unfortunate to see him get cut, but if he puts the work in he'll get some looks from other teams. It's good to see troy smith finally get a shot though. It seems so often that these great college quarterbacks drafted outside of the top 10 take a few years to finally get a starting spot. He'll get his shot
FrazzledOne23 1 year ago
@FrazzledOne23 —Actually, Nate never left the Niners —He was demoted to the practice squad when they brought in Troy Smith —I agree with smilekeith that it's a personal issue with Singletary, rather than the playbook or, his supposed learning disability —Frankly, I think this kid has the best feel for the position of anyone on the team —If the Niners were smart they'd get rid of Carr, bring Nate back on the squad as the 3rd string back-up —Keep Alex as back-up til season's end —Then dump him...

rudye59 1 year ago
@rudye59
Bingo!!!
YBRR88 1 year ago
i think Nate Davis makes a lot of good passes he should get some recognition
skulls21 1 year ago
Hes a very talented kid. I hope he stays with the team next year and works his way back up to the active roster. Our coaching staff just is experienced enough to teach some one like N.Davis. B.Walsh wasnt scared of J.Montana dyslexia, he knew there were risks, but the reward was much bigger. He gave him snaps here and there to get his feet wet. That is the same approach we should have taken with Nate. But in a must win year, he was looked at as more of long term plan for the next coaching staff.
YBRR88 1 year ago
Look at us now. 1-5 with 11 games left. No team has ever made the playoff from 0-4. This could have been good game experience to see what N.Davis has or see if we should draft a QB next year. We're going to win some meaningless games this season with A.Smith and get a bad draft, and miss out A.Luck or Lockler. This organization is pathetic. We need to get rid of Sing, Smith, get Gruden as the H.C , B.Parcells as the GM, bring up N.Davis and draft A.luck next year.

OdisWilliamsMedia 1 year ago
@OdisWilliamsMedia
J.Raye blew N.Davis's chance to move up to #2
YBRR88 1 year ago
in order to make his job more secure.
YBRR88 1 year ago
N.Davis became the victim of a power struggle. To bring him back would admit that there was some sort of rift raft between the QB coach and O.C. It would also mean that Sing was wrong about Smith and M.Johnson was right the whole time but nobody listened to him. Thats why they brought in T.Smith. To clear up the conspiracy and hide the truth.
In the end, I just dont Sing and Raye wanted the onus of trying to teach a kid with a learning disability, and being responsible for the unknown results.
YBRR88 1 year ago
@YBRR88 I agree that whole thing was awfully fishy,, I almost think if Davis played worse he would be the 3rd string QB. Singletary must have been feeling some kind of a push to consider Davis, and Sing didn't like it, so he pushed the kid as far away from the opportunity as possible, and got all mellodramatic, he damaged Nate Davis'es playing career, hopefully sing gets axed, and they put the young man in, that would be kharma.

Thats it. Whatever you say to me is not making sense because as far as I know they produced in the regular season.
jfliguy 1 year ago
@jfliguy

Hitting up some p90 for the next hour, but I'd like to know your opinion on how 9ers will do this year.
MikeDecipher 1 year ago
@MikeDecipher I am thinkin about doin the p90. I listen to Petros and Money show and they endores that way to much. Look my opinion is that going to really go after week 5. That will tell me if Alex is really what the coaching staff wants him tobe. IF the offense can be consistant, as well as if they fixed the Corner position. They really did not address that. We as 9er fans are debating back and forth about Alex but the Corner position is a weak link. REAL Weak.
jfliguy 1 year ago
@jfliguy
MikeDecipher 1 year ago
@MikeDecipher The secondary is a concern to me. The D as a whole I like, but the Secondary is not strong. The Corners are suspect. They allowed way to many 300 yard passers, VY to have a game against them passing the ball. Your bringing Nate back and he has not lived up to the contract. Thats why I am more worried about that then Anything else. The OLine will gell so hell thats all gravy to me. With Mike and Davis as some young maulers I love it. Its the Secondary that scares me.
jfliguy 1 year ago
@jfliguy
Maybe we can just sign Darrelle Revis.
/empties out pockets
I think you're right though. My brother has been talking a lot about our secondary pass defense. I wonder if we have any focus at all in making those repairs.

@MikeDecipher Nate can probably get there but until he does I am not going to give it to him. Nate can have the better arm, and..... WTF are you talking about Nate has not fell apart in a game. When did Nate get into a regular season game and not break down under pressure? See your coming at me wiht BS and not backing it up. Joe, Steve, and Jeff are in a league of their own.
MikeDecipher 1 year ago
@MikeDecipher From what i read on nfl.com it seems like the plan is to get Nate some regular season this year. Coach Singletary says he hope Nate can contribute this year and not just sit on the sideline waiting for the season to end.

Wow you all got this Nate DAvis QB of the future from speculation. No matter what this whole thing.... Fuck up believe what you want. I am not going to hype myself on speculation and what ifs. Thats what disappoints fans. On the real.
jfliguy 1 year ago
@jfliguy People are going off what they see, a 5th round pick with a promising future. Everybody knows hes not ready to start, but they can also see with hard work and time to learn the playbook, he can become a stating QB. Will he be the future? Who knows, but if he continues to progress, than you have to consider that as a possibility. Just imagine if Smith has a decent year and Nate continues to progress...
YBRR88 1 year ago
Y your hoping that it happens. Thats the thing. In noway have Singletary or the other coaches has came out and said that. I do not go by anything or implying because that sets you up. IF you want to think that Nate is going to do it without having tohave it translate into the regular season then by all means do it. I know that shit like that sets people up to fail. As long as we both have gone back and forth, have you seen me to say something like that. So we will always not agree with it that.
jfliguy 1 year ago
You can throw a ball 70 yards (Kyle Boller, Jamarcus Russell) but that does not mean it translate to being a great or potential player. I hope Nate is a good pro, but until it translate into the regular season I am not getting a boner over potential. Ask the Cleveland Brown fans about Brady Quinn.
jfliguy 1 year ago
@jfliguy He has great instincts and decision making abilities of a John Elway. He just needs to learn the playbook. That's what is keeping him from starting!!!
TheEntertainmentonly 1 year ago
@TheEntertainmentonly You just compared someone who has not played a down in the NFL to someone who has earned that what your attempting to give to Nate. Your arguement still is not convincing me. When he can do that in the REGULAR SEASON or the Coaching staff says all this that you all think he is then I will go with it. Until then like I have been saying Nate has not earned it and I am sure he believes it to.
jfliguy 1 year ago
@jfliguy I'm not disputing that!!! I'm stating that he'll be that type of player when he fulfills his potential!!! He's a better QB than Alex Smith or David Carr. They don't have great instincts or intangibles. I don't care if you play thirty pre-season games and no regular season games. Great instincts is great instincts!!!
TheEntertainmentonly 1 year ago
@TheEntertainmentonly Int he end your not convincing me or orpving a point. You are going by a preseason game and your making it seem like that translate to a better QB. To me that does nto mean he is better than Alex or David. He may have better "tools" but in the end that does not mean he is a better player. In the end when Nate plays a real meaningful down in the NFL then we can talk. Until then your just hoping and wishing. That will set you up to fail
jfliguy 1 year ago
@jfliguy The tools are essential to a great quarterback. He just needs to change his attitude. By the way, I've never seen Alex Smith or David Carr look that great in pre-season games... and their solid quarterbacks!!!! The point I'm trying to make is that Nate Davis will succeed in the NFL because of the essentials!! If he doesn't pan out, it'll probably be because of a lack of work ethic or bad attitude!!!
TheEntertainmentonly 1 year ago
@TheEntertainmentonly Your still going on hoping and potential. Your saying because he showed his ass in PreSeason that means he is a better player than Alex or David? That makes no sense because what I am saying isbecause he has a better arm does not mean he is a better player. I go by what I see in the regular season. How about this? What is Nates Regular season record? Has he taken the 9ers to the bowl? You can't answer it because he has not played. When he does then we cna talk.
jfliguy 1 year ago
@jfliguy Just listen to the comments Nate received during the Viking game, the commentators says he has quick feet, good pocket present, makes quick decisions, has a quick release, and a cannon of an arm. All these great qualities are missing from Alex Smith and David Carr.
xengvang80 1 year ago
@xengvang80 One thing is this, Commentators don't mean shit to mean becuase they are a bunch of ass kissers. I watch the game, I also go by what I see IN THE REGULAR SEASON WHEN IT MATTERS. Nate has not done that. I do not care what you think about Alex or David. Thats on you, but when Nate can translate all that into a regular season game, I am not going to stroke his scrotes like you all are doing. Thats on the real. What does Coach Singletary say about him? What has he said? Thank you.
jfliguy 1 year ago
@jfliguy Coach Singletary just said in a conference call a couple of days ago that the 49ers sees the potential in Nate and have given him the time to develope by giving him a spot on the 53 man roster. He also says that he hope Nate can contribute this year and not just sit on the sideline and wait for the off season.
xengvang80 1 year ago
@xengvang80
Right now I'm checking out Jarrett Brown's college highlights. He's in a practice squad, and looks like another good QB. Hmm...
MikeDecipher 1 year ago
@xengvang80 You can have allthe potential inthe world. That does not mean dick in the regular season. Again your not seeing what I am getting at. IF you want to get high on potential and possiblies then go ahead. IF (and I mean a big IF) Nate comes in and is nto what you expect then I know for a fact fans who are stroking him will start calling him all names inthe books. In the end Nate has not shown anything inthe REGULAR SEASON!!!!

stockjonebills 1 year ago
YBRR88 i feel you i really like the kid i just think we just need to let him develop, but the reason im worry about him is jimmy ray is not getting any younger we may get a new OC in the near future and we have a team in place to win now just need a qb that can produce...if alex dont do great and jimmy leave after this year our window for a ring get a little smaller
manonfire1911 1 year ago
@manonfire1911
Thats why we have M.Johnson the QB coach. Hes being trained to become our playcaller if J.Raye doesnt stay here next year, so we can keep the same system and build some continuity. He has a younger mind, and went back to college to study the new trends in offensive schemes for a few years.
YBRR88 1 year ago
@YBRR88 i hear about M.Johnson but only knew little, but thats great if he can step right in.
manonfire1911 1 year ago
Some of nate throws went over the WRs head, on one quick slant the WR couldnt even attempt to jump to get the ball because it was to high. On 3rd and 7 he didnt see anything made a good run but then fall down without getting touch to make 4th and 1
manonfire1911 1 year ago
People need to really watch the game again, nate have a great arm but you can see he just not developing faster mentally like he should have, nate even say he have about 3/4 of the playbook down and he have trouble with calling the protection out (which is a big deal). You have to ask your self why...he should have learn this last year, he even said he should have put more time into getting ready he should not still be learning.
manonfire1911 1 year ago
@manonfire1911
YBRR88 1 year ago
Nate is a good QB, knowing when to throw it away and avoiding being sacked with his agility. He also knows who to pass to and when to, giving good reason he should be a starter. Who agrees with me?

it's time to face the lynchers. Alex smith looked shard in first drive. i'm still not convinced he's good qb. we'll find out starting Sept. 12th. Nate Davis played well considering it was his first game vs # 2 team. he was 7-9 for 114 yards until the wrs dropped balls, blocking sucked, non threat m. robinson came in. for Singletary to highlight Nate's bad plays isn't fair. seemed like Nate doesn't have the long leash Alex has. all Nate has to do now is work the hardest.
a9erSYKO 1 year ago
@a9erSYKO
YBRR88 1 year ago
Its a motivation tactic, and also a cover up to save their asses for not noticing his talent sooner. Tony Dunge had great things to say, Collins compared his deep ball to J.Elway and his pump fake to move the FS like P.Manning. There is NO WAY Sing could come to that conclusion after what those guys saw. You also have to factor in if he was to say things about Nate he never said about smith, we would definitley have a Qb controversy right now. It wouldnt have been fair to Smith but They liked it
YBRR88 1 year ago
@YBRR88 i thought he'd get pleased w/ ND's play then all of a sudden, work ethic being Qed, pointed out the yard short slide. nothing mentioned about the dropped passes, bad blocking towards the end, how ginn cut the route short in the endzone and how great he played in 1st 3 possesions. i didn't see plays that haters were hoping for showing ND went to the other way due to his dyslexia. i hope all sing's words won't hurt his confidence.
a9erSYKO 1 year ago
@a9erSYKO
YBRR88 1 year ago
Singletary is hard on his players, and harder on the players who he believe can be great. The last player who he chastised publicly was V.Davis. Now he is the biggest threat we have on offense. Its how he motivates his players, he never lets his player heads get too big, always points out what they can do better. N.Davis has had people tell him he wont be anything all his life, Sing is just using what got him here: motivation to prove people wrong.
YBRR88 1 year ago

420jaymoney 1 year ago
I'd rather Davis be the backup than Carr (who they should cut) because if Smith doesn't establish himself as the starter this year than it is time for him to go. At that point you see what Davis has - unless they are somehow in a position to draft Jake Locker
However the real take away from this video is reconfirming to me that Jason Hill (89) should be our 3rd WR, maybe even challenge Josh Morgan. Every time I see Hill on the field (which is rare) he's making plays.

a9erSYKO 1 year ago
@a9erSYKO Hell yea, If N.Davis best QB on the roster, then you got to put the best man on the field. The coaches are being smart about this. They want him to go up against starters so he can feel where the heat is coming from, where to expect the delayed blitz, when to make O-line adjustment and who is his hot Wrs in those situations. I got faith in N.Davis. He has everything you want in a Qb, and he passes the "eye ball test". Just need time against 1-2s so he can get a feel for the speed.
