  • beautiful flowing movements and she makes it look so effortless! Wish I could see the full dance!

  • This dancer is great right from the first view. Lovely extensions, beautiful mudras, excellent follow-throughs and just complete rhythm. Pity that we could not see more!!!!!!!!!

  • Very gracefull! Congratulations, Sanjukta.

  • it's crazy, i am doing a project on indina dance at the moment, and i use to think they are all the same. Now after i watch some of the different art forms, you can really see the difference between them. this dance is very graceful, and she flows excellently. great vid

  • Im in love.

  • Wonderful dancer .... So elegant and graceful Odissi is an amazing dance ...

  • what an amazing and graceful dancer! It is a pity the quality was not better. I was still able to appreciate the dance. thanks for posting.

  • Hi everyone, Just wanted to clarify. Sanjukta is a student of Guru Bichichanandra swain, this is his choreography and she is a part of Rudrakshya. The item is called Devanghari Pallavi. Rudrakshya travels frequently around the world, I hope you all get a chance to see them.

  • Excellent. Post this on 'Dynamycdesi' as well. It is also a good site.

  • she is one of those few dancers who can bend well and GRACEFULLY!!!!!!!

  • superb! Very, Very beautiful! I love Odissi!

  • Bicchiji and the Rudrakhshya guys are staying with us in NYC and they are conducting some pretty intense Odissi workshops (beginner, intermediate and advance) if anyone is interested, let me know. I'm in love with Odissi, the beauty of the form and music explodes inside of me. I was going to learn from Bicchiji but I injured my foot. I'm going to Bhubaneshwar in a couple of months to learn from him, if anyone would like to join me, do let me know. Take care.

  • hi am from malaysia when are you goign to bhuvaneswar , i have been dancing odissi for 13 years now i would like to join you if possible,

  • odissi and bharatanatyam are very different actually, but might look similar to untrained eyes.

  • Very different. I have studied (and continue to) both Odissi and Bharatanatyam and the execution is really different. Aramandi and chauka are different, and it's not just the position of the feet. Tribhangi in Odissi is different, and the walking is totally different. For this reason they have been codified as two totally different dances.

  • Odissi is very similar to Bharatanatyam, but it's more freeflowing, right?

    Beautiful dance :]

  • wow, so amazing

  • One could dance well and i should does it extremely well . Good on you ....but at the same time its a real bonus to have a stage presence .

Mythili Prakash isn't good looking in person but transform into a complete beauty on stage . Yes makeup and colour of costume with creativeness is all a bonus . Sharmila Biswas of OVM and Sujata Mahapatra is beyound . Sorry!

  • georgeous!

  • Sanjukta come to an ISKCON temple on Janmastmi or sometime we really need you!

  • Nice to see someone good for a change.

  • I almost feel like a professional cameraman when I see that film. The dancer is very good but not the filming. Is it from a cell phone?

  • That is exactly what I feel ...When the quality of the filming is not up to the standard of the dance, which can sometimes be extremely good, it spoils the whole effect. Better quality filming is the key to showing how good dancers can be.

  • I completely agree. You have to be an experienced 'movement' filmmaker to capture dance on celluloid. it's unfortunate that dancers do not invest in a good filmmaker or editor (i know that budgets are limited in the dance world but it is ESSENTIAL to be photographed and videotaped in high quality because it's your 'comp' card, what you'll use to market yourself). I'm taking film classes specifically for that reason.

  • why not look at meghnad23's odissi videos?

The video quality is much better.

  • She is awesome!! I wish I could see the whole dance!

  • odissi is such a gracefully sensual dance form

  • i`d wish to can dance like that

  • BEautiful

  • This is Sanjukta Dutta, student of Guru Sri Bichitrananda Swain and Sri Yudhisthir Nayak--founder/director of Rudrakshya in Bhubaneswar--Sanju is performing "Devagandhari Pallavi" which was choregraphed by Guruji in 2000. Rudrakshya will be touring in spring of 2008--try to google them--Rudrakshya Odissi to find out more about their activities.

  • that was really good !!!
