The grip serrations are on the front of the trigger guard for purpose, wrap your left index finger around that and you will have much better on target hold and overall control. Try it.
I didn't even know these guns were in those video games... this has been my favorite shooting hand gun and vote for the best bang for the buck. LOVE this gun.
I have the CZ 75 BD POLICE version (9mm LUGER) decocking version with no security, I put the LPA rear adjustable sights and man, this is a great firearm for shooting at the range even at 25m / 27 yards it's accuracy is really impressive ! I like that gun and I will never sell it to anyone even for a 5000 bucks ! :-)
Many serious pistol shooters find their way to owning one of these. It's somewhat difficult to find a good DA/SA pistol that can be carried cock and locked in condition 1 like a 1911 OR swap the hammer safety for a decocker lever (its your choice). Most pistols are either one or the other and you have to change your whole routine when you switch to a different pistol. This gun has it all as far as being loaded with good well thought out features and at a very decent price point.
@techgeek97 We use Browning High Power mate, we're moving onto the Sig Sauer P226 now though, but there are still a large number of High Powers in use.
at 3:50, with the firing pin block. so this thing pretty much will never misfire? are there other guns with this safety feature? or is this specially for this brand?
From what I have been seeing on a local gun forum there is a batch of police trade in Pre B 75's coming into the states, any truth to this? From what I was told they can be found for around $300.
I am a proud owner of two CZ 85s, same as 75 only adjustable sights and ambidextrous safety. I don't intend to get in a fire fight under water so I will stay with my CZs.
Excellent feel, quality, accuracy and reliability.
Wow! Another great review by Sootch00. I'm going to review the Browning Hi-Power now. I just got the itch to get a 9mm. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm!
I shot a CZ 75BD at the Bull'sEye range in Tacoma,WA. An you know it surprised me how accurate it was and how easy it was to shoot. WOW what a pistol! I'd own one.
@popcorn08100 I am a Gun Nerd. I rather shoot real guns than just fantasize about being in and thinking about COD, BF3, or whatever people play. I don't want to waste a lot of my time at the controller when I can just go shooting and study firearms every so often.
@TheFreick What's wrong are you a hipster or something? And what made you look up the CZ-75 anyways where you playing too much COD Black Ops, you can't afford MW3 or something?
@1coolguitarman It's "okay" to dry fire any center-fire guns. Dry-firing doesn't do any more wear on the firing pin than if you were firing a round. It's just called "un-necessary" wear. You could break a firing pin while dry-firing, and there's an equal chance that you could break a firing pin while firing off a round. Dry fire away!
Thanks for the great video. Got my 75 today. Used, but in an excellent condition. Cleaning guns (safety checked of course) and watching this video about "my" gun -thats really great!!!
@flynnpin CZ has been making quality service pistols a lot longer than Glock . Glock is a good handgun but CZ In my opinion helped set the standard for quality mil spec handguns .

well i just picked mine up a few weeks ago... must say i love it. as soon as i held the pistol i knew it was for me. it feels like a 1911 had a love-child with a beretta 92. recoil is ridiculously light. makin follow up shots a breeze. great pistol for home defense or range use
i love CZ 75's. like this guy said go to their website. you don't need a tool to push that pin out (for cleaning), just use the bottom of a mag. and tap it out. these 75B's have a couple of rolled up pins, they work just fine, but why not have a steel pin? another funny thing is the jerico 941 (IMI) looks almost exactly the saem as a CZ 75. but, the isreali version uses a hammer forged crome molly steal barrel, and there are no rifleling groves in the barrel.
@TheTheratfarmer Yes, you can use one of your mags to push out the pin, however, be careful. The metal mag can easily ding up your CZ. If you do use the mag, I'd recommend putting some cloth over it. JMHO. And you're right, the CZ is awesome! I'm loving my polished stainless model.
I have the second version, pre B but with the longer-than-original slide rail, made around '91. Says made in Czechoslovakia on receiver, so made before the Czech Republic was established. Tang hammer, vertical slide grip knurling, rounded trigger guard, all-checkered plastic grips, left-side-only safety, no hammer block. I can only remember it failing to load and fire one time in 19 years of use, when weak ammo was used and the slide short stroked. The more you shoot it, the better it shoots.
@renarudo1 Both are great guns, however, I prefer the CZ. The reason? I asked several in the military and they tend to prefer other makes (even in 9mm!). Their usual complaint is that the pistol doesn't hold up after extended use (15,000 rounds+). By the way, I had a 92 FS and ended up selling it (excessive wear on the rails). My CZ isn't going anywhere! JMHO
sootchoo.Great Demo! I have a Browning (MK III) Hi-Power, 40 cal. and the similarities are incredible. I like the CZ's finish more. The Browning 40 cal. is a "Brute" to disassemble and you have to keep it cocked (RTF). I have a holster that blocks the hammer for both this pistol and my 1911.
@FPSInternationalLeon I have a 1911 S&W (.45 ACP). Throwing a piece of lead (almost 1/2 an inch) at 800 FPS plus has as much stopping power as 357 mag. The 1911 has about 50+ parts, where as the CZ was described as "complicated." That means Guns Smith's Only. The 1911 as been around...Well 100 years! The CZ under 40. It depends on your specific need. Shoot both at a range and decide which one "Feels" the best to you. I'm looking to buy the CZ 75B. Why? So many agencies use them!
My only beef with the CZ75 is how narrow the grab points on the slide are. There just isn't alot of slide to grab there. I feel that I would not be able to actuate under stress. Pretty impressive accuracy though.
i dont want to sound naive, im 16, and handguns are my BIGGEST passion in life. I really want to get into gun smithing. my channel on youtube is going to be about gaming yes. which brings me to my question, is it true that the CZ 75 can come in a full auto modification? I know glocks can do it, I'm just curious because I am just rearanging my top five handguns and I'm looking at this one. If anyone wants to help me out, it would be much appreciated, thanks a bunch!! :)
@HandgunOnlyGuy anyone can make any semi auto into auto, they just have to shave the trigger, its illegal, but you can do it, btw, gun guys really dont like gamers coming and commenting on real gun videos, unless they want to get into the hobby themselves
@ericsyutubeaccount first of all, thanks a bunch mate, truely :) and i know how gamers are viewed on review vids. but i am trying to get into the hobby myself, im applying for a gun club membership in windsor (ontario) to get a start, and take it from there after some hands on experience. being 16 makes things a lil slow, but ill get there, :)
@MegaBradley111 well...U.S. military involvement ended on 15 August 1973 as a result of the Case–Church Amendment passed by the U.S. Congress. The capture of Saigon by the Vietnam People's Army in April 1975 marked the end of the war, and North and South Vietnam were reunified the following year. soo.. to answer your question i guess it was used by spec ops for the black ops troops to use.
I had a original CZ 75 (.40 S&W), but sold it because it had no safety nor decocker, I wasn't comfortable lowering the hammer on a live round. Otherwise it was probably the best shooter I've ever had, even better than my twice or more expensive 1911s.
@jamesjr934 You must be mistaken.Every CZ75B has a safety.I've never heard of of a DA/SA semi automatic that didn't have a safety or decocker.Any how, lowering the hammer on a live round is easy to do. You could have practiced with no ammo in the gun,or practiced with a round in the chamber at the range while pointing the gun down range in a safe direction so nothing would get hurt if you were to mess it up. Some people put their dumb in between the hammer and frame and slowily easy the hammer up
I'm not taking about the CZ 75B but the CZ 75 first generation, the B stands for the second generation which adds the decocker and/or safety. And yes I know lowering the hammer down on a live round can be done, I did it many times but that doesn't mean I felt good about it.
@jamesjr934 he original model (CZ75) was not made in .40 S&W to my knowledge. B stands for firing pin block safety. Even the original CZ75 had a thumb safety at least.
The only CZ that wouldn't have a safety is one of the rare DAO models. All other CZ-75/85/97 have either a safety lever or a de-cocker. However, lowering the hammer on a live round wouldn't be an issue with one of the DAOs as the hammer was cocked by the trigger pull. It couldn't be cocked manually.
From the very first one made, all CZ-75s had a safety lever. The later "B" had a safety lever and firing pin block, the even later "BD" had a firing pin block and de-cocker instead of a safety. If you had a .40 S&W CZ that was not DAO, it would have been a "B" or "BD" model, as the earlier type without firing pin block was no longer being made by the time CZ started offering .40 S&W versions of the CZ. You had a gun that someone had modified to remove the safety for some reason.
My dad left me one of these when he passed recently. I just took it to the range a few days ago and WOW, what a great shooting gun. Thanks for posting this video. I needed something to show me how to tear it down. Now I have to clean it. We were having so much fun shooting it that we put quite a few rounds through it.
All we hear here is Glock.I've got a Sig p226, all stainless elite. It is an awesome machine in every respect. I bought a CZ 75 from 1992, used by police in Czech Republic. I couldn't believe how well it shot: super accurate and low recoil. Against my Sig--and the CZ shot better: tighter groups and more accuracy. Love this gun--As awesome as the Sig is, this is better. It's not just a show horse, it's a go horse! My favorite gun--hands down.
No ambidextrous safety? Dammit... Why did I have to be cursed with this left-handedness? The only time it comes in handy with guns is with single-action revolvers.
I own a 75B and it truly is a great pistol. It is well ergonomically designed with high usage in mind. It is simple to use and easy to teach with. There are not any fancy components to the 75B which would take away from its practicality. The versatility of this pistol is appealing from experts to first time gun owners. Scootch, you did a great job on this gun. Thumbs up..!
Got a CZ 75 recently used by Czech police, all steel, made in 1992. AWESOME! This gun shoots more accurately and smoother than my Sig p226 stainless steel--an awesome weapon. But I think the design is better with the CZ 75--less recoil than the Sig and I just couldn't believe how accurate it is. Best pistol I've ever had.
@Wilson1592 That's what I'm thinking. Sootch's review are only rivaled by Nut'nfancy and Hickok45. I love his presentation format and information. I really want to see him do some comparisons of 9mm's and 45's.
@jntroisi I narrowed it down to me buying a CZ 75B or the Beretta 92FS. I love both of them, but in the end I got the CZ 75B. And the funny part is, my wife has taken it out more than I have, mostly casue Im currently deployed Lol. Im gonna get back and shes gonna be teaching me! Lol
Are there any semi-auto pistols out there that will put a round in the hole simply by inserting the magazine? In other words without racking the slide before, during, or after insertion of the magazine. Tap, bang, minus rack. Yes, I'm very inexperienced with guns. Thank you for keeping that in mind.
@crazydriver1978 My CZ85 has seen quite a lot of use. Now, when the gun is in the open position after shooting the last round and I insert a new magazine with a bit of force, it sometimes happens that it immediately closes and thereby chambers a round, without me touching the slide release. Not a problem if you're safe and keep your finger off the trigger though...
The grip serrations are on the front of the trigger guard for purpose, wrap your left index finger around that and you will have much better on target hold and overall control. Try it.

@HandgunOnlyGuy anyone can make any semi auto into auto, they just have to shave the trigger, its illegal, but you can do it, btw, gun guys really dont like gamers coming and commenting on real gun videos, unless they want to get into the hobby themselves
ericsyutubeaccount 5 months ago
@ericsyutubeaccount first of all, thanks a bunch mate, truely :) and i know how gamers are viewed on review vids. but i am trying to get into the hobby myself, im applying for a gun club membership in windsor (ontario) to get a start, and take it from there after some hands on experience. being 16 makes things a lil slow, but ill get there, :)

@HandgunOnlyGuy CZ made a select fire (Full-auto or semi-auto) version of the pistol starting in 1992.

@garfild123jin and if it was designed in 1975 why is it in black ops anyway???
MegaBradley111 3 months ago
@MegaBradley111 well...U.S. military involvement ended on 15 August 1973 as a result of the Case–Church Amendment passed by the U.S. Congress. The capture of Saigon by the Vietnam People's Army in April 1975 marked the end of the war, and North and South Vietnam were reunified the following year. soo.. to answer your question i guess it was used by spec ops for the black ops troops to use.

Nice video. I think I'm going to buy a CZ 75 as soon as I can. And I subbed
raptors11111 6 months ago
I had a original CZ 75 (.40 S&W), but sold it because it had no safety nor decocker, I wasn't comfortable lowering the hammer on a live round. Otherwise it was probably the best shooter I've ever had, even better than my twice or more expensive 1911s.
jamesjr934 6 months ago
@jamesjr934 You must be mistaken.Every CZ75B has a safety.I've never heard of of a DA/SA semi automatic that didn't have a safety or decocker.Any how, lowering the hammer on a live round is easy to do. You could have practiced with no ammo in the gun,or practiced with a round in the chamber at the range while pointing the gun down range in a safe direction so nothing would get hurt if you were to mess it up. Some people put their dumb in between the hammer and frame and slowily easy the hammer up
esh325 6 months ago
@esh325
I'm not taking about the CZ 75B but the CZ 75 first generation, the B stands for the second generation which adds the decocker and/or safety. And yes I know lowering the hammer down on a live round can be done, I did it many times but that doesn't mean I felt good about it.

Well whatever, mine didn't have a safety or decocker...

@jamesjr934 Somebody tampered with it then.

@esh325
Yeah I'm sure the gun shop where a bought it new removed the safety before selling it to me. Or maybe your just wrong.
jamesjr934 6 months ago
@jamesjr934 I can't find anything in google that CZ ever made the gun your describing. Have a nice day.

@jamesjr934 he original model (CZ75) was not made in .40 S&W to my knowledge. B stands for firing pin block safety. Even the original CZ75 had a thumb safety at least.
esh325 6 months ago
The only CZ that wouldn't have a safety is one of the rare DAO models. All other CZ-75/85/97 have either a safety lever or a de-cocker. However, lowering the hammer on a live round wouldn't be an issue with one of the DAOs as the hammer was cocked by the trigger pull. It couldn't be cocked manually.
akiratubo 5 months ago
@jamesjr934

Thumbs up..!
sleepychitlins 7 months ago
CZ 75 B is without a doubt one of the most elegant looking modern firearms.
MsDjessa 7 months ago
Do you know if this disassembles the same as the CZ-75 BD (with the de-cocker)?
thechazman1228 7 months ago
Got a CZ 75 recently used by Czech police, all steel, made in 1992. AWESOME! This gun shoots more accurately and smoother than my Sig p226 stainless steel--an awesome weapon. But I think the design is better with the CZ 75--less recoil than the Sig and I just couldn't believe how accurate it is. Best pistol I've ever had.

I'm dying for you to review the Beretta 92FS/M9
jntroisi 7 months ago 24
@jntroisi Yes please. Another double action that needs a review. Although many reviews out there not many are as well done as Sootch's reviews.
Wilson1592 7 months ago
@Wilson1592 That's what I'm thinking. Sootch's review are only rivaled by Nut'nfancy and Hickok45. I love his presentation format and information. I really want to see him do some comparisons of 9mm's and 45's.
jntroisi 7 months ago
@jntroisi I narrowed it down to me buying a CZ 75B or the Beretta 92FS. I love both of them, but in the end I got the CZ 75B. And the funny part is, my wife has taken it out more than I have, mostly casue Im currently deployed Lol. Im gonna get back and shes gonna be teaching me! Lol
MrHuffmeister 6 months ago
Are there any semi-auto pistols out there that will put a round in the hole simply by inserting the magazine? In other words without racking the slide before, during, or after insertion of the magazine. Tap, bang, minus rack. Yes, I'm very inexperienced with guns. Thank you for keeping that in mind.
crazydriver1978 7 months ago
@crazydriver1978 Nope. I don't think that's even possible. Could be possible, but I doubt it.
Emaster03 7 months ago
@crazydriver1978 My CZ85 has seen quite a lot of use. Now, when the gun is in the open position after shooting the last round and I insert a new magazine with a bit of force, it sometimes happens that it immediately closes and thereby chambers a round, without me touching the slide release. Not a problem if you're safe and keep your finger off the trigger though...
