Try a motor cycle helmet preferable SHOEI I stood at -50 same system and try Lycra best thickness and and very tight --if they make lycra socks you will be warm as Toast!

-26 in July in Antarctica? That's actually not that bad! I'm assuming you were talking °C, since you're from NZ?
I hope your long johns were NZ merino wool! Also for a parka, I recommend Canada Goose next time!

in 94or 95ish just outside St Paul, Minnesota, I saw -50/-93wc F. 0 to -30 is very common in our cold cycle years

Ive been outside in temperature as low as -40 degrees.
i live in sweden so the winters can get really cold.
But -40 it was crazy i thought i was going to die

This is a great video. Our school is learning about the Antarctica and this shows very clearly what you wear and when to put it on.
I just have one problem showing it to the children when our county doesn't let us connect to YOUtube.
