Why doesn't the U.S. use this come on down cue? It tops ours. I am not saying this because I am not being true to the red, white, and blue; I am saying in my opinion this cue is better than ours.
That theme playing during the casserole's description sounds sort of like a theme I recorded on my piano, entitled, "The Irish Lion." I write books and compose music for the setting of the books, so that song could help, as will the other three themes.
In later episodes of 1 hour duration (4 pricing games + big wheel), the returning champ would play against big wheel winner in the showcase showdown. In earlier episodes (30 minutes - 3 pricing games), the champ would play gainst the highest money winner of the 3 games.
Personally, I like Larry doing Wheel better than TPIR, but he does descent. Ian is the king, though! He could have easily done TPIR here in the US, I think.
thought Ian 'Turps' Turpie was the best ever host of the PIR in Australia. So down to earth, John Deaks (annnouncer) and the models were good too - Celeste, Roz and Phillip - where are they now? Golden years of the Seven Network...
i liked this come on down theme a little better than the 1989 one and the current u.s. one; this sounds like this probably has a late 60s or an early 70s flavor sound to me. this studio had the closest style to the u.s. one from 1972-75 (color and style wise) i don't no why the u.s. version never had returning champions (except for the 1956-65 version)
Australia does love making the show jazzy, so the fact it is close to the US theme is only coincidental. I do agree with you, mjb1124, and I salute you for your remarks!
I don't like this host at all;he's certainly no Bob Barker or Drew Carey.

which host is cooler.........

This guy seems like he was an amazing host.

Interesting that the set looks more like the 1972 era TPIR considering all the orange, brown and yellow, yet it's from '84.

It's just like our (American) The Price is Right. The only obvious difference is that the speaking accent is Australian.

This version of The Price Is Right looks like something out of a crazy but good dream.

I'm glad to see that they, too, use the lights border.

BOb Barker is a god, I never realised just how much talent he possesed. Now in Heind Sight I realise he was a patron saint.

This is the first time I have ever seen a bedroom up for bids on any version of TPIR.

Interesting how Ian offers a $50 bonus. That happens here in the U.S. of A. in Shell Game, but not Bonus Game.

How did this version have a returning champion, and how could someone defend his/her title?

I thought there were 6 pricing games + big wheel, but maybe I am thinking of the 1989 revival, which never had returning champions.

Yes i did but the props are still over 30 years old
foreskin44 4 years ago
Exactly. We feel the need to continue as much of the old nostalgia of the show (as FremantleMedia will alllow) lol
the06bug 3 years ago 3
So the props are not updated. The show really got stuck in the 70s, I think, before Drew took over for Bob.

I have to agree with you both.

i want to add the border light looked way better than the u.s. from 1975-84

Keep in mind we have 2 showcases; they only have one, though one expensive showscase!

I believe that this is the version of the (current (not the old)) Price is Right that has returning champions.

You're absolutely correct!

It sounds like they made the music as close to the US version's as possible without having to pay royalties.

Gerry's TPIR version was even closer! The orchestrations were the same, and the melody was only slightly varied, and the set was almost identical.
columbusmozart 3 years ago
Who's this Gerry you speak of?
LeothePatrioticLion 3 years ago
Sorry, mistyped: Garry Meadows (1973-1974) Search the Youtube for the ATV 0-10 retrospective on TPIR.
columbusmozart 3 years ago
I did search for that and watched it. It surprised me how much it was like ours.
