cont...... That many shad would have given the bass a good belly, which then it may have passed for nine pounds looks-wise. But still......a 17.5 inch skinny bass that weighed 9 pounds!!! I could not believe it lol. Also keep in mind fish sinkers(weights) that bass swallow. They are so small they will not make a bass look fatter but get a bass with 20 or so in its stomach, which is not uncommon, and it can add a pound or two.

That one looked more like 3.5 pounds but guessing weights of bass is so unpredicatable it may have been 5 pounds. My biggest bass was 9 pounds but it looked like a six pounder. It was only 17.5 inches long and was rather skinny. My dad and I were so unsure that are scale was wrong so we went to a game warden and he said that the fish had proabably ate three crawfish a few hours before. That would not give a bass a gut, which it did not have. However three crawfish outweighs 20 shad!!!!
