be the most fulfilling. Parents need to understand that it is important to teach their kids the values of Love, Education, Respect and also how to be Humble.
Is parenting. I come from a European family who preached discipline since i was a kid. Most parents today are lazy as hell and let the TV teach their kids the ABC's or numbers ETC. They dont do their job as parents and help them learn and understand why its important to obtain an education. Most parents that i have met in America have been really great at raising their kids but when it comes to teaching them important life values, They failed miserably. Parenting is the hardest job but can
who deserve them and not to people who are going to fail over and over. Thats where the strict regulations come in is to filter that group of people out. But yet again students take for granted the importance of an education and thats what plagues our society, and it is due to parenting. if i was on grants and i was fuckin up my parents wont hesitate to withdraw me so that another student can get an opportunity to use that funding to get an eduaction. thats what the BIG problem is in america.
and the grant didnt get cut off cause he was in school for 5 years. It is due to our economy suffering from stupid wars that are raping our country financially which affects all states budgets and unfortunately the state of illinois wanted to completely cut the program because there werent enough taxes being collected to fund the MAP. The MAP is back but the only difference is that there are a more limited amount of grants allowed meaning that hopefully they will give these grants out to ppl
It sucks to see people affected by something like this and to tell him to "pay for his last semester" is not fair. The reason you pay taxes toward this is to see people succeed and if you could understand the situation he was in then you can understand why he needs that even if he is a 5th year student.
this grant helps students like aaron make sure that he graduates instead of taking a semester off to make money so he can go back and finish his degree. im guessing u went to college but if you were an engineering student with one semester left and your funding got cut, how would you feel about taking a semester off to finish a semester later? i dont know but i would be discouraged as hell and wouldnt want to come back. ive had friends who did that and never came back.
and make him pay for school himself. Yes there are people who are completely independent of their parents and support kids, a job while in school but the reality is that it isnt as easy as you say. Around Carbondale there arent many job opportunities that provide a wage that can support the income of school, housing and other expenses. Many people have to work 30 to 40 hours a week for around 3 to 4 months to make tution for a SINGLE SEMSETER. not include the hours spent in class and doing hw
he works hard believe me he was in most of my classes until our engineering classes began. he was more motivated and has done so much more than most of the kids who graduated in 4 years. There needs to be stricter regulations for receiving the MAP grant yes, cause there are kids who milk that shit by failing classes and not doing what they are supposed to do which is learn. people like aaron need this grant even if they are in school for 5 years that shouldnt be a reason to cut off the grant
as a mechanical engineering student @ siuc most students who are born and bred with math and science in their blood finish in 4 years. the average engineering student finishes in 4 and half to 5 years. i am also a fifth year student and it is not because of slacking off, i am an average student who didnt start engineering classes till a year later when i started calc. situations like these force kids to extend grad dedlines and in aarons case he was just like me starting in a low math
Hold on.... this guy at 1:25 is in school for 5 Years! Duh kid, the buck grants stop after 4 years... want some cheese with that wine? YOU will have a good paying job when you're done... so pay for the last year by yourself. All of our taxes have already helped you to this point.... sheesh!
