I spent a few years in Prince Rupert.... What a time that was
Mid 1990's The manilla Boys were the best band in town playin at the Moby Dick....bunch of Asians took over the music scene and totally rocked. Even hung out with the crew from crab boat called Smokey Joe.. my bro Kevin still lives out there from that boat.
I was born in Rupert & spent my first 13 years there. I have to agree with the comments about the sad state the town is in. For example, the DQ shut down eons ago...and the building still sits empty. I'm sure the economic downturn has only added to Rupert's misery. Nevertheless, it still holds a special place in my heart and always will. I can only hope that it's potential to become a world-class container port is enough to revive Rupert.
moved there from Austraila, it wasn't for me. No work in my industry and too many junkies, drunks and deadbeats, especially mr 'Spare change for a coffee?'!
Trying to decide if this is the kind of town I could settle in, and while judging from this video the Hip Hop scene does not seem promising , I admit the town still has some allure.
yeah. rupert is filled with ignorant indians. it rains too much. and there is always some drunk prick trying to get at your money one way or another. "can i bum a smoke, can i have some money for a drink" its like. fuck dude. go get a job. god damn bum.
@slashster64 sure it rains alot . but there is ignorant people of all ethnicity in every town you go to. im currently living in vancouver. and on just the street of granville there is WAY more junkies and beggers than prince rupert ever could have. Its not nearly as bad as you've portrayed in your comment. hater!
There is something to say about Prince Rupert.. It shaped me into who I am..
I got to see the tallest trees in the whole wide world, I got to see the blackest beaches in the world, Hell I got to see the sunniest places in the world.. being my roots are so deep in that town being a Tsimshian Man, gave me a more insight on life out side of Rupert.
I went to Rosevelt went to PRSS left when I was 25, I still miss that place.. so many memorize
ya so what i was living there to for 11 years who cares sexy babe iam talking about the girl with they earring on her nose you sexy thang ow to belive me iam from there.. i went to rosevelt park elementry school. in 1991 now iam 31 years old and i now lIVE in europe MACEDONIA come and visit me sexy no one dares to take a trip from prince to THE KINGDOM OF ALEXANDAR THE GREAT GOOGLE SEE WHO ALEXANDAR THE GREAT REALLY IS AND THE FUNNY THING IS ALEXANDAR IS MY GREAT GRANDFA
I,m glad you left cause I love it here and you sound like you kinda complain alot. and I like the video cause it has my crab boat in it.....good job !!!!
Born and raised there, left in 1996 and never looked back. .what a depressing place to call home..trust me folks i had some good times but the town is not at all like it used to be. The weather, the Indians, the boarded up buildings and empty lots, the high property taxes, the high unemployment rate, the high crime rate..need i say more? Live in Terrace if you must live in that part of bc..if my parents weren't there, i would never set foot in that town again without hesitation
Although the sights are something to behold (haven't seen much in the country that beats it), everything else about Rupert is a different story. I'm glad that I got the chance to leave, it just had to happen; too depressing, very little that happens, arguably the highest rate of unemployment, and high cost of living (even for a small city, or town, whatever).
yeah right. what work? where??? people be trying for jobs everywhere and not getting anywhere. prince rupert is NOW a ghost town with one or 2 cars passing by every so often in downtown. where did that city life go??? away. seriously if there is jobs here LET PEOPLE KNOW!!!!!
New Prince Rupert video for you, mmy Mmichael. Prince Rupert is just the right size - no long commmutes to work. Our residents are friendly! Mmy husband fell in love with PR on his first visit fromm Ammsterdamm, NL. Ik hou van jou, mmijn mmooie mman!!!
