  • Wonderful just wonderful

  • Wonderful. I was born too late as well for such greats as Bowwly, Columbo and Nelson Eddy.

  • He was often described as a pint sized Cary Grant. He had a fantastic voice and sadly was lost during WW11. Ray Nobel came to the states but never had the success he had with the Mayfair Orchestra in London.

  • It's folks like you you that keep this music alive. Ray and Al are two of my favorites.

  • Mr Bowlly, the very thought of you makes me so happy.

  • @ShutThatDoor God bless him, dying in such a violent way, and being laid to rest like he was. I wouldn't wish that fate on anybody in the world. But it's especially sad in the case of Al, because he was such a beautiful singer.

  • Beautiful!!

  • What a voice....beyond compare. Great song, wonderful singer.

  • @Blonde7362 - In my view, the greatest singer whoever lived. What a pity most of us weren't around when Al was King. Will we ever see Al Bowlly's equal? I don't think so.

  • "The Very Thought of You"--timeless, immortal, as if from Cole Porter's sheet music!

  • I really liked the violin work around 3:10, and I like the nostalgia of Bowlly's voice, but I have to say I prefer Nat King Cole's version.

  • Losing both Al Bowlly and Glenn Miller to war within 3 years of each other. You would think mankind would learn.

  • love, love, love this :)

  • A very beautiful song, I could listen to it all day. Very personal to me. Makes me dream of a perfect world but at the same time makes me feel sad. Very hard to explain.

  • The definition of class and charisma, this is a ticket to times I would have liked to experience, thanks for uploading!

  • My new favourite song!

  • This may quite possibly be the greatest musical recording ever made.

  • @chem100 Pretty good comment and I nearly agree. The one I think tops it is the Joe Loss Orchestra with singer Chick Henderson singing "Begin the Beguine". In my view, this is the best song ever recorded and it's on YT too.

  • This version of this song is "perfect" in so many ways. It shall always be magical.

So dreamy and peaceful, calm and safe.

  • I`d never heard of Al Bowlly, but I like his version better than the other one I just listened to by another artist. Thanks for sharing!

  • What a combination !! The artistry of Ray Noble and Al Bowlly. There can't be anything better.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • @Corrie121 - Fine comment. They are the best, aren't they? That said, Al Bowlly and Lew Stone and Al and Roy Fox did some great recordings too. Common denominator being Al Bowlly.

  • unmatched

  • How could they know during that awful air raid we were to lose the talented singer Al Bowlly. This record is a class title and he executes it perfectly. His voice is so distinct that i was in a music shop once and they were playing a song of his and I asked if it was him, purely as to me his voice was so unique. The surprise of the person behind the deck was funny, as i was young. Al Bowlly is still one of my favourites. I am glad to read other young people also listen to his talent.Thanks..

  • @1912cunard You are special for loving him!!! Not too many of us around these days. I still hold my hand to my heart every time I play his music. What a wonderful, talented man!

  • R.I.P. :'(

  • he was our very first " pop Star"

  • beautiful arrangement beautiful!!

  • What a marvellous singer, thanks for sharing!

  • Ah shit. I was born 70 years to late.

  • great song

  • Lovely video. I like the picture effect.
