Roles like Linda Hamilton in Terminator and Uma Thurman in Kill Bill stick out because they are not the norm of how women are portrayed in film. It's shocking at the end of Death Proof because the girls actually fight back, and that's NOT how they're usually portrayed.

I know many animation studios got sued over supposed negative roles of females in there cartoons in the 80's, Rockstar games was sued (Yah it was just ONE of the things they got sued over) for the GTA series, I don't know the name of any MOVIE studios off hand, but I know it has happened to animation and video games companies.
Add to that bad press studios get from things like Oprah, and other daytime shows you's have to be dumb to do it at all!

I wouldn't exactly characterize Rose as a "strong" character though it was certainly a well-fleshed out character. But the point is that the examples you're naming are the exception, not the rule. Roles like Linda Hamilton in Terminator and Uma Thurman in Kill Bill stick out because they are not the norm of how women are portrayed in film. It's shocking at the end of Death Proof because the girls actually fight back, and that's NOT how they're usually portrayed.

They only do as their told when they're in an attraction phase. I hate it when women are dumb enough to turn that natural process into something they feel they're "stupid" for, and feel sorry for themselves.

I was talking about how the girl in the vid is portraying herself as a femenist, but still it seems, doesnt go seacrhing for a good part in a movie. A part that isnt just "the girl" but an actual character..

how is julia roberts portrayed as a strong female role model? Even in Mona Lisa Smiles, the message kept trying be pro feminist, but it was dissapointing. I refuse to ever watch a hollywood movie again
