  • p.s. glad to see plane survived!

  • Is that cornfield (?) a curse or a blessing? Looks like a plane could get lost in there but its better than slamming it into solid ground.

  • True, it's a combination of both. The corn protects most planes, but it is very tall. I've actually walked under my plane, but thanks to my Castle Creations speed control that beeps every 20 seconds when the throttle is off, I heard it over my head.

  • I would not call that a very safe flying field. Except for the helipilot getting struck, it looked like a bunch of newbies. Terrible safety, but thanks for capturing the accident :-)

PS: Glad this is not my flying field...

  • Comment well taken and appreciated! I will post another video about the safety aspects of our field at a later time. Rest assured that we are utilizing all the latest safety recommendations by the major organizations.

This video is totally taken out of context and will look very unsafe, but the heli pilot and other pilots utilize spotters as needed with pilot safety stations and verbal communications when different activities require attention, like plane retrevial, landings and takeoffs.

  • That is good to hear. The crash was a blast to watch :-)

  • Oh, and yes, some of the pilots will look like newbies because they are. This footage is from our regular training night where a lot of our planes are on buddy boxes with our expert flyers helping out the new members. If they are not on buddy boxes, there is an expert standing by to give verbal assistance or to help them pull out of a difficult situation.
