  • This video was shot by me from the center seat of the first row of the balcony at the Henry Ford Theater but it pales by comparison to the pro-shot Glastonbury video of this song which is also here on YouTube. Check it out! It's got multiple cameras and better sound too!

  • definitely one of the better songs ever written. love it!

  • I have never heard this song before; or about this group until I was looking at Rolling Stone Magazines greatest Albums. This song is exquisite. I am going to shop for the album on Amazon.com.

  • One of the greatest songs from one of the greatest albums of all time.

  • Essa musica é linda demais !!!

  • He sound's as good as he did on the original recording...R.I.P.

  • @jazmaan- Excellent

  • just beautiful, desperate and beautiful.

  • LOVE,SPIRIT,FREE,GREAT SOCIETY,TRAFFIC,TREES,WCPAEB,BIG BRO',Q.M.S..,MAN BAND,HAWKWIND,RED CRAYOLA,13FLOOR ELEVATORS,WISHBONE ASH,LED RECTUM.J.MAYALL,ARTHUR BROWN (& KINGDOM COME);BLIND FAITH;THE EDGAR BROUGHTON BAND - one of the best!!!! - HEAD, HANDS & FEET......too many to remember : BUT : there ain't NOTHING like that now!!!!!!!! • To be played at my wake...

  • He set the scene...god bless you Arthur.

  • I Saw them perform this at UCLA at Royce Hall! It was a great show!!! Glad I was there.

  • They were way ahead of their time!

  • heartbreaking....

  • Arthur has cancer at this point in his life. I hate to say it, but his live concert in Wales (isle of man??) was clearly voiced over or whatever the term they use when its synced. People are just happy to see him in the final days. I don't know if he had the true energy to perform but he's putting on a good show

  • Say what you want, Arthur was a very BRAVE MAN! he was looking at death everyday

in 06' yet he kept singing great music.......

  • @billywillieme exactly. And I love his final message to Bush and Cheney for getting American men and women killed in some BS war that clearly benefitted them. Not that he was against the service but didnt want people losing their children

  • wonderful imagination, nice guy, an absolute "grafter", glad he didnt "modernise" the sound and kept it authentic, as thats a mistake made by many oif the bands from that era!, luckily now many seem to go for the authentic sound and orignal sound gear! good.

but yeh, go for it arthur for ever changes in heaven brother!

  • From the first to the last time, I love that gift of song from Arthur.

  • even after 42+ years it still gives me chills!

  • his voice changed a lot

  • i was at this show...and even played it. was playing in Brian Jonestown Massacre at the time, and we played 2nd. what an honor and a thrill!

  • I love listening to this on the train goin to work & watching the moo cows & moo peoples ... the last 2/4 1/2 is it.

  • So glad I got to see them live before Arthur passed....RIP Arthur, genuis

  • I love this song. Thanks for posting !

  • I once gave Arthur a HUG and said "this is the time in life I am living and I will face each day with smile!" My friend Sky Saxton (Seeds) introduced me to him at my bar in Hollywood "Zatars" Sky RIP too

I see all the masters jamming in the sky with Hendrix... Bryan...Jim...

    PARTY on...

  • arthur lee and bryan mclean died too young! they are every but as good as lennon and mcartney! but superior in my book!!!

  • Arthur had Luc....cancer. He fought it bravely, hence the headband at Glastonbury, where they gave their best gig.

  • I have the CE of Forever changes it's amazing.

  • 4:56 top poxy notch,i told meself when i heard that "hang on a fuckin minute" i put it back and my god raw emotion, how do you like them apples ya's poxes, arthur lee=amazin R.I.P Man

  • @ZouZiPai Right!? TOTALLY.

  • Great Song,,Straight to me Favorites,,,GREAT SOUND,,,STYLE...Super Cool,,,Love IT.!!!!

    555 Stars.

  • Wisdom, majesty, wit, imagination, lightness, musicianship rolled immaculately into 7 minutes. Still got me vinyl from about '68 though it's worn flat. No one else comes close or is remotely similar. All you need to know in one song - thanks Arthur!

  • @cymbula Well said my friend ! I happen to have my vinyl too. A treasure.

  • wow i really love this song the lyrics really make u think

  • Thank GOD I heard him like this in 2004 at Town Hall in NYC. Now that I know I'll never get another chance, I'm really glad I went. The new Zombies were also great.

  • Damn, I miss you Arthur - pure genius is right. We had the good fortune to see them WAY back in the day, plus not long before he passed. All concerts were awesome! LOVE was an unique band, to put it mildly.

  • This song is pure genius.

Thanks for everything, Arthur Lee. We'll never forget!

  • Arthur and the Band were fine tuned and at their peak at Glastonbury 2004, unforgettable performance for all LOVE fans...dear arthur x

  • Yea i saw them in NY at the Town Hall, nothing against the DVD, but he was really on it that night, so much better than the dvd performance, he voice was perfect..so much like 67. he got down on one knee during singing cowboy..shaking his rattle up to the sky..point to the heavens, bone chilling. Then in Red Telephone.. lines: Theyre locking them up today Theyre throwing away the key..he added George Bush & Martha Stewart in the mix.

  • ALWAYS anICOC. THEN A FRIEND, THEN A MEMORY!!

I WILL ALWAYS LUV YOUR SHIT artuh lee!~!!

YOUR FRIEND FROM Santa Cruz, Ca.!!timi/tiapromo

  • Thank you for this.....thank you very very much....

  • Wonderful

  • EPIC.

  • Love you Arthur..... You continue to LIVE!!!!

  • Everytime I play this album, I hear something new. This is my favourite song on the album. "I'll face each day with a smile"

  • change beats peppers into pulp! made for true music lovers who know and choose quality over what we are led to believe are the greats! changes makes every other psychedelic band bland apart from roky erricson and the 13th floor elevators!

  • Not sure if the gap is that big. I am proud to have both albums. The difference is Commercialism. Living downunder, I had not heard of Arther Lee until the mid 70's. When I got hold of F.C., I understood. Mindblowingly brilliant! After Forever Changing my mind, I settled on this track as my fave. Concerto like in structure, this song is a high point of 60's music, or any music for that matter. With Love!

  • When I first heard this song on "underground" FM radio, I immediately bought this album. Now I have the CD. Arthur Lee is one of the greatest songwriters ever, with incisive and clever lyrics. Every song on "Forever Changes" is a masterpiece. Lots of social commentary in Love's songs. One of my most favorite albums. RIP, Arthur, you are sorely missed. We need more artists like you.

  • my favorite song from forever changes!

  • I got the reissue in 86.. lately i got hold of a 60's copy, vinyl is thicker sound better, as a vinyl addict I'm looking forward to find a MONO version..

  • Arhtur and Love were one of the best, and they had som many good records out besides Forever Changes. I saw them twice around 1970 andonce around the time of this video above, just amazing shows!

  • this is one of my favorites band. I like the sound is so power and soft that makes me dreaming

  • well said.

  • Hey JAZZMAN, Yea Man, another Die Hard Arthur fan, plus so many others!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    tim,tiapromo

  • Goddard it, being a DIE HARD LOVE FAN, & JUST SCOOPED MY NEW SHARE OF Arthur's Memorbilia,, Thank you DIANE//Dave & CO.. + Tinman, I love my Love Stuff,, thank you, thank you !!!!!! I LOVE THE

    HAT & 5 T SHIRTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    TIM// TIAPROMO

  • One of my all time favorite albums i was lucky enough to see him before he went. Such texture to the music when you really listen.

  • If I could only listen to one album for the rest of my life, it would be Forever Changes. It is the perfect music to listen to no matter what you are doing.

  • man, always thought the same, If I had to choose only one record to listen until the day I die, it would be changes...

  • number 40 on rolling stone's top 500 albums of all time!

  • thank you Jazzman

Arthur never lost his great voice,

    What did he died from?

  • He died from leukemia, which I have - so I especially treasure him - even more than back in the day.

  • thanks for your info

im so sorry to hear this,I hadcancer twice in my life and I am now very healthy and very lucky!!

Why dont you try to look at the vids on you tube on dna repair??

    best wishes to you!!!

  • I am a AMML survivor of 11 years. my thoughts are with you.

  • arthur knows NOW, and knows it well. and so, here he is. god bless him, though a god he was and is.

  • Baby Lemonade, who played with Arthur for years, and are on this video, are touring the UK in the Autumn. They'll be doing some Love stuff, should be great. Google them for their website.

  • It this era, one of the very, very best albums ever made..Not one bad song on it. A classic in the same league with BS&T's "Child Is Father To The Man"..If you know this one, you know the props I just gave "Forever Changes"

  • each day with asmile

if I have your music to listen to

    arther

    forever music in my heart

    changes into forever

    LOVE

  • I seed this man on a street corner, imho

  • Fuckin tremendous.

    Big G

    Scotland

  • I read about Forever changes in 1977 and had to wait nearly a fortnight before the record shop got it in. It blew me away as soon as i played it. Wonderful strings and brass. I hav'nt heard anything like it before or since. Every song brilliant and their names alone set it apart. Ive hardly went a month since without playing it,and it never fails to sound less than amazing. An old friend that never lets me down and definately my desert island disc.

  • im music mad and have thousands of albums!, my favourite?, all my love albums!, they are all exceptional!, i agree if i could choose one it is forever changes! love are manna from heaven!

  • was lucky to see arthur in glasgow and edinburgh at the 25th anniversary tour of "forever changes".the good die young, but the best die whenever.what a tune.love from scotland.xxx

  • Pretty sweet. Forever Changes is a definite desert island disc.

  • What happened at 3:35, exactly? Did Arthur's mike go out?

  • It was not uncommon for Arthur to forget the words to his own songs. He looks over to Rusty for help at 3:35 and then they have a laugh about it.

  • I heard a little about this group. Then, a saw a performance they did on "Later...with Jools Holland" and was blown away! I definitely got to check the "Forever Changes" DVD.

  • elphonics -- Do yourself a favor and buy the CD first. It is THE classic to own.

Their first album and Da Capo are great albums in their own way, too. I even enjoy some songs on Four Sail. But Forever Changes is one of my favorite albums of all time.

  • I bought it earlier this week. Love it! I definitely will be getting more by them. Thanks for the tips.

  • Amazing. He is such a great inspiration. Incredible. Such a blessing.

  • That chick who goes "yeah!" in the beginning is me.

RIP Arthur Lee - pure inspiration. My musical Jesus.

  • damn-- they dont make em like that anymore . . . it's called beauty . . .

  • genius! from the greatest album ever made! forever changes, you.ll know,

  • I met A.L. in '67. The whole Forever Changes video is available, Spectacular !!!

    The "Ensemble" is faultless

  • Arthur Lee is perhaps the most underrated genius in the history of rock. Forever Changes is a complete masterpiece and it is simply great to see this video. Thank you for posting it!

  • My favorite Love song! Absolutely great. Cannot be described in words

  • Thank GOD I saw him at Town Hall in NYC around this time. All of my favorite living legends are dying!

  • were you there for the love & zombie concert at the town hall in nyc? i got to be at that one, he was so great in the whole performance.

  • Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

This song just gives me goose bumps; I can't describe it in words. From one of the greatest albums of all time. Thank you, Arthur, wherever your journey has taken you now.

  • there are very few lp's that are as complete a listening experience as forever changes....and also, the new alternate mix on the deluxe edition cd that just came out is quite fascinating.

  • Man he got soul...

  • RIP Arthur Lee. words cannot describe your prodical talent lol

  • RIP you complete genius.

Simply put: Forever Changes - the greatest record ever made.

  • lovely. love you arthur.

  • i have this concert on DVD.

it took me ages to learn the lyrics to this song, as they're pretty strange, but that's one of the reasons why i love it so much. <3

  • wow...his voice was still beautiful.

  • wow...his voice was still beautiful.

  • oh i,from the greatest album ever! forever changes, genius!

  • This song is so brilliant... The lyrics are pure magic. Forever changes is, alongside with Pet Sounds, the greatest record of all time.

  • This song is so brilliant... The lyrics are pure magic. Forever changes is, alongside with Pet Sounds, the greatest record of all time.

  • damn that was good!

  • this songs kicks ass from 2:40 on............

  • Psychedelicious...

  • just had to say thanks ,

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!!! Probably in the top five songs of the late 60's and maybe of all time.

  • Comment removed

  • "well what can you say?! the man is a legend! i dont know any performer that affects me so much!, all the `big names` couldnt lace his boots! dont give me the beatles, stones and that crap!, led zeppelin and syd barrett are up there with arthur tho!"

Arthur would be the first to agree with you! heh-heh.

Pink Floyd were great Love fans. Syd's composition "Interstellar Overdrive" was inspired by Arthur's arrangement of "My Little Red Book"

  • Indeed, Syd and Arthur Lee have left their mark on so many bands and artists. I rate both ahead of anything from that time. Syd shut up shop eventually and went home to his mum in Cambridge. Syd's Piper At The Gates of Dawn , Madcap Laughs and Loves Forever Changes are from two people who were hearing a different drummer and both were definitely out of the box...

  • I never knew they were english and brothers!!lol

  • actually they were from lost angels...

they filled the gap after the byrds made it in 64-65...look it up

  • He did this song live on Jools Holland's BBC programme just weeks before he died. Sadly the clip doesn't see to be on Youtube.

  • fuc--- awsome, just another clip of the

    Great Arthur .lee

    signed tia/tiap.

  • Hey Jazman, thanks a bunch for sharing this

" Clip " w/ Arthur and his last crew, a.k.a.

Love. Always a treat to see this Man, as you already know , he was Love!

    tiapromo/S.F. CA.

  • this song has such great meaning

ill face each day with a smile

  • Aw, I wish I could have seen him before he died. Arthur Lee, what a ledgend. This is one of my favourite Love songs.

  • it don't get any better then this

  • For every happy hello, there will be goodbye.

    Oh yeah.

  • Pay attention to all words on all songs and you'll see Arthur Lee was a prophet (at least to his own life)

  • I think I saw this show (there were two nights at the Fonda)...it was absolutely transcendent. Don Conka and Echols came out for "Smokestack Lightning"...

  • My fondest memory of the Fonda show was backstage in Arthur's dressing room before the show, he was harmonizing a bunch 50's doo-wop classics with some old buddies from the hood. Wish I'd had my tape recorder running!

  • wow!!

    this is awsome

  • Oh my god.

  • we were lucky to see one of Arthur Lee's performances at The Coach House. He wasn't himself that night...how his band rallyed around him. You couldn't have paid enough to see that. He was the best..ever!

  • AWESOME! What else can you say?????????????

  • God he's cool.

  • i was fortunate enough to see love 3 times and they were truely one of america's best bands. one time i had the opportunity to meet arthur lee and he gave me his phone number so we could talk further. unfortunately we spoke just once and then the line was disconnected. i recommend that if you are a love fan to read the book about them.

  • the most beautiful manifesto!

  • For the time that I've been given, just a little while...

And for anyone who thinks that life is just a game, do you like the part you're playing...

    What a fucking songwriter !

  • I watch this video on ocassion just to feel goosepimples. This song is playing in the elevator on the way to heaven. Perfection.

  • This tour was unbelievably beautiful. Arthur Lee's voice is haunting and moving anf Baby Lemonade was superb and we will never see something like this since Arthur has passed. I walkied out of the theater walking on a cloud after hearing and seeing this concert. Wow was it great !

  • That was beautiful, jazmaan. Love must be on earth!

  • I saw the "Forever Changes" tour in Boston in Oct 2003, and it was a spectacular show in every way! This song is such a tour-de-force with eerily prophetic lyrics.

  • I spent this evening looking up groups mentioned by Dave Rabbit in airchecks from his Viet Nam war pirate radio show. (He played what soldiers really wanted to hear.)

That led to, naturally, checking out Love. Interesting that sales were weak in CONUS, as apparently the G.I.s liked it well.

    I can see why.

  • Gotta love the nostalgic line: "I see your picture, it's in the same old frame, we'll meet again" and so forth. At least i do, although i'm NOT the kind to go for nostalgic crap, usually. BUT this music is not usual.Amen.

  • I can do this music every day. Arthur Lee is missed in this house.Da Capo and Forever Changes are timeless seemless.

  • this tour was really amazing. Arthur will have a lasting impression.

  • AAhhh, this band was a discovery that i love.

  • Arthur, my man, I miss the hell out of you! I caught the same disease, listening to you. Forever Changes indeed, indeed.

  • Somebody should upload the Glastonbury BBC performance. One of the best live performances I've ever seen.

  • this is a great song and one of the most talented men in this music thing, forever changes it's awesome.. i just love that album.

  • HEY NOW, just got back from th L.A.Film Festival, took someone that also is a fan of the extraordinary

music of Arthur Lee. Great to talk to Johnny Echols,

Robert roselle and a few others that had enough class

and professionalism for one nite to greet the fans, promoters, the average cat on the street to see this Doc . a/b ARTHUR and all the trials and tribulations of L.A.'S greatest non describable bunch oh of Cats

that were way, way ahead of their time, including the elusive Brian.

  • Love were much bigger in Europe in the 60's and 70's than they were in the States. I saw them in 1975 at Dunstable Civic Hall. A thrown together all black band. They sounded great. Saw Arthur twice since then. He signed my Mono copy of Forever Changes outside Bimbo's in SF six years ago. He wrote what I had hoped he would. "To Mark, Love Arthur Lee."

I cried a lot when I heard that he had died. I didn't cry at all when I heard that my father had died. Rock is thicker than blood apparently.

  • Musical excellence from a true genius!

  • I love this song. I love the arrangement. I love the instruments. I love the message. I don't think there's anything I don't love about this song.

  • This is the greatest song ever!

  • He was one bad man . . . .RIP

  • You can always tell when I am in the neighborhood, my FC CD is playing at top volume out of the 6 speakers in my van. Every note, sung or played, is perfect, exactly correct. What a genius, we were lucky to have him

  • valley sally this is ridgecrest calling! just today july15 found your reply i'm an idiot about this stuff. I/m Marlin Thomas with the band Crumville, remember me? I wrote down your email address and will try to reconnect

  • After 35 plus years of seeing Arthur, he's still is

moving beyond words, A real genius THANKS ARTHUR, TIAPROMOTIONS /SEE YA ON THE NEXT GIG !!!!!!

  • This guy is pretty much up there with Hendrix. Definitely one of the defining sounds of the sixties, and another band that makes me wish that I had seen the sixties in all their glory.

  • Arthur had a much LARGER FANBASE, internationally,

than most people can even concieve of. Glad you can dig his artistry !! tia

  • Wonderful!

    Missed greatly.

  • What a Magnificent song! Love you Arthur, you were the best!

  • Fabulous performer and a wonderful song. Thank you very very much for posting this.

  • I feel Love when I listen to this music. As though touched by the holy spirit! Amen

  • Arthur Lee rocked on this one. I sure wanted to see Arthur with this excellent line-up. One of the best tunes in the rock era, my favorite, anyway. All else are posers.

    Leukemia sucks.

  • I drove to brookly ny and seen the forever changes show at the warsaw and ill never forget it for how good aurthur sounded..Always a love fan and always will be.God Bless his soul.

  • wonderfull song!

    RIP Arthur.

  • lucky enough to catch the forever changes tour in the liquid rooms in edinburgh a few years ago.very intimate venue, holds only 5/6oo,and this tune brings it all back.god bless for posting this jazmaan.
