  • Great Josephine. She came to Rio in the early 1950s and held a show for children where she distributed gifts to all children in the audience. Every child stepped up on stage and received a gift and a kiss from Josephine Baker. I got a jumping rope, and I remember every detail of those moments and the rope. What a day! It must have been my first time in a play theatre in my life, and I remember it very well. I am 66 now. Thanks for posting. Greetings from Rio de Janeiro.
