There are definitely big generational differences, but when I take public transportation, many read the paper, and I am sure that many of those that read the paper don't supplement it with anything else. I would say the press is sort of free, but it is more of an illusion that it is totally free. Even though we have the independent sources, the large conglomerates still do their damage to public opinion.

There are definitely big generational differences, but when I take public transportation, many read the paper, and I am sure that many of those that read the paper don't supplement it with anything else. I would say the press is sort of free, but it is more of an illusion that it is totally free. Even though we have the independent sources, the large conglomerates still do their damage to public opinion.

If the government would enforce basic labor law and stop allowing companies to illegally fire workers, outsource jobs and hire illegal aliens then we wouldn't need as many governemet programs.
Workers should keep the wealth that THEY produce in the first place. Taxes on the very wealthy have shrunk dramatically over the past 50 years.
The problem isn't that Uncle Sam is taking to much in taxes, the much bigger problem is that wages aren't rising they are actually shrinking.

The lost decade of Japan was bailouts stimulus package's and money on infrastructure when they were going threw a recession witch made it worse. Conservatives account for 2/7 of the national debt Obama more than quad-tippled in in 2 months, 25% of total unites states spending that means the last 200 years.

I am saying that money will be used to buy the troubled ASSETS (which is being done now), but ALSO shut down Wall Street for 10 days and fire most of the CEOs and restart the market after 10 days.

How about we increase taxes from 36% to 40% on the richest 2-3% of the population. The taxes for the rest will be what they were under Bill Clinton. I say DO NOT put a cap and trade so businesses can flourish. As you said, I too support NO income tax. End BOTH wars and save billions! Pass the budget with Health Care, Energy and Education reform which will cut costs. Auction the toxic assets at interest to investors who can late sell them and clear the banks. I think it could work.

All I say is that we stop giving tax cuts to oil company's and give them them to hydrogen producers the real future. Cut federal funding on every level less taxing of the federal government means more taxes on state government. Federal government is not allowed to nationalize health care. The Federal government buys the toxic assets from the banks and clears them up so they can lend and then the government sells them at an auction for less price to investors. Wall Street agrees with this options. Unfortunately we can cut federal funding for programs that dont work. I say cut funding for crap. Like pig research ect;.. the rest is important so we have to spend because our economy is based on spending. The Gvt is allowed to nationalize health care, but to not interfere directly.

The other option is to Nationalize the bans for ONLY a few months until we fix the mess and then privatize them again. This is good alternative. I agree about the Fair Tax, but richer people cold pay a few % more than they are used to, as long as we know where the money is going! I hate when it just disappears!

BTW, the Federal Reserve already printed a trillion dollars over night. They also took a dollar and added a 9 to 10 times its value and printed the trillion over night. The point is, in this case the government has no other option. Bankruptcy will mean that you may have to lose your job. If they fail, we will be in a depression. Just because Reagan got away with tax cuts and got lucky in the results doesnt mean its the right thing to do in the 21st century!

When minimum wage is increased salary's go down for example my brother got a job 9.00 a hour minimum wage was raised from 5.00to6.50 his pay check drop 1.25$ even though he earned 4$+ raise the 2 years he had been working there it penalizes hard work and prosperity. American is a republic not a democracy. A forest dose not exist a lot of individual trees do.

I did i went to Mex to live for 6 long years with some friends in Ensenada B.C. where a boatload of americans live. I don't believe you understand your own government as you believe you do. Did you know that a State can allow Gays to Marry only to be denied FEDERAL benefits because the Federal Gov't hasn't allowed it? I know a couple of gay people who were married in Massachusetts, but when they go to file their taxes they have to check off "Single" as their filing status because the gov't doesn't recognize the marriage. So much for states rights, right?
