I think it's funny how the media tends to over-exaggerate the ferocity of riots; don't get me wrong, some can be pretty fierce, but most often in writing riots are described as blood-letting feuds filled with gut-wrenching violence and utter chaos when in reality there may have been some bad words said and a few punches thrown, but more often than not the said riot is FAR less extreme than they are explained afterward.

For many years, the US has propped up the vile Mubarak regime with billions of dollars of aid. This has NOT been spent on improving the country, but in building a massive network of oppression to keep the regime in power. The US only gives aid if it is perceived to be in their own interests, that is why Clinton and Obama now find themselves in a cleft stick. It is ironic that the US, which professes to be the bastion of democracy, consistently supports many of the world's authoritarian regimes.

If the Egyptians decide to have another theocracy like the one in Iran, their deep problems (poverty caused by overpopulation, lack of technical teaching, lack of free speech) will only get worse. And then the next revolution - maybe decades later - will be against the corrupt and greedy clerics. Egyptians, I admire your bravery! The Tunisians got rid of their dictator and they now have my deepest respect. Should you be able to get rid of Mubarak and get real democracy without installing Sharia instead, the world will indeed be a better place. Radical islamists in Europe are threatening OUR freedom, and a free, peaceful and democratic Egypt with freedom of speech would be their nightmare and our joy.
