@ryboproducer that excuse is useless. ive seen it waaaay to many times (not directed at me)
any normal person can see that this was a terrible night.
jpj's bass was poppy, jimmy sounds like his guitar was made of mud and is using elastic bands. there were technical problems resulting in the removal of TYG and compared to the previous night it is so bad. the only decent preformances were communication breakdown (only just) and kashmir
this "boogie mama" part is featured in "how many more times" on the 1st disc (1970 RAH), i think that's why this part isn't on the 2nd disc. and anyway, that dvd is full of material, so i think the compilator (maybe jimmy page himself?) had to collect the best and most important songs of the original material.
i think parts of this might have.....probably not tho the aug 4th version is better, i mean both have their own appeal but the aug 4th one was the one i think they put in the dvd
yeah the drugs didn't help to make this one good, becuase it wasn't that great. but it was still a good preformance. they should have released it on the DVD mixed together with the other version of Whole Lotta Love from the Knebworth 79' concerts.
this was in his peak drug abuse time, he used to take heroin all the time then and it started to effect his guitar playing and look how much weight hes lost
My favorite version of this has to be from 9/24/71

And the bassline at about 2 minutes in is pure jazz double bass...

Also loving the jazz drumming starting about 2:20 - Zep seem to have incorporated all their influences into this one song!

Loving the country feel bit starting around 1:25! Great stuff...

It's actually "boogie chillun" a little jam sequence they improvised in their earlier days you can hear it from "how the west was won"
