That's okay for a "quick flip" but to do it right you either glue it down (all over) or stretch and staple...you wouldn't use tack strip on inexpensive commercial carpet unless you also put down pad. A carpet razor knife can be bought for less than $10 and it's much easier than a utility knife.
I agree with those who say this is not a good example of installing a carpet, its obviously suposed to be glued onto the ceiling.
