John Chambers - he never created anything. He didn't invent anything. He is not a visionary. He inheritied a company already on a trajectory and was an administrator during the heyday. Then he drove the company off a cliff. Period.
@warphace yet cisco's annual revenue grew from about a billion dollars/yr to over 40 billion/yr today. he's been one of time's 100 most influential people, one of cnn's 25 most powerful people in the world, and is a billionaire. not too shabby.
I have been an enthusiastic and proud Cisco employee for almost 11 years. Cisco gave me the opportunity to travel, change roles every 2 years, and work with amazing people. I have always raved about John C, and how he might, in fact, be too far ahead of his team.
Now, as I take the early retirement package, Cisco is giving me the opportunity to go out and develop a non-profit solution for Emergency Responders. In this speech, John waves his hand and says "make it so". Thank you John
John Chambers, Cisco CEO/Chairman, was the Commencement Speaker at Duke University this year! Even in the middle of significant change at Cisco, he is still a visionary and leader!

No wonder Cisco is a sinking ship, how about you work on your company instead of giving speeches to future unskilled and unemployed students.
