Bruce Glover said in an interview that he was told to act like Peter Lorre when playing Mr. Wint. Putter Smith on the other hand just acted like himself, since this was his first movie. It worked out pretty well for both.

LOL these two made this movie! My favourite two villeins of any of the films, they just have an extra cunning and chillingness about them. and the music here is excellent, this theme was played in most of their scenes.

the only thing I didn't like was how easily they were killed off in the end. they really should have killed Bond twice and then when it got to the final scene they were both killed within a couple of minutes. :(
