how about reflection of your tripod and light buld on the surface ? Can you quickly correct that ? Also, do you use plexiglass instead of glass ? Anything special about it ?
@achitaley Sorry, my program won't be helpful because I wrote it in ad-hoc manner just for prototyping. I don't have time to write generic one unfortunately for now...
i am about to create my own book scan and i love what you have done for yours, i want mine to look exactly like yours, can you tell me the camera you are using.
@yahmana I just wrote a C++ program that does the marker detection, perspective transform, and cropping. The rest is done in the post-processing stage.
Do you start the book conversion to digital format by starting with the cover, then the front flaps that clings on the cover and the page that follows the cover?
@DonQuichotteLiberia Not at this point. It's actually difficult to remove the lamp reflections because they are too intense. The lamp should be placed so that it won't cause any reflections. Small reflections can be removed by circular polarizer lens filter.
For post-processing, I'm thinking about using Adobe Photoshop from Automator or AppleScript. The curve and color is corrected at this stage. I'll let Adobe Acrobat to the rest (OCR, assigning sections, etc.).
Now that...is really neat. Did you ever improve this?

@pablok83 It's "Adaptive Filters Theory and Applications" by B. Farhang-Boroujeny.

@ytsutano so mainly your program finds pages corners and extracts them to image?

achitaley 9 months ago
@achitaley I wrote a program in C++ with OpenCV library.

Good job, I like it! Do you use photometric processing as well (removing lamp reflection etc.?)
