When R.Luxembourg started in 1989 on Astra1A channel 13 via RTL-V/RTL-4 across Europe in hifi quality PANDA1 stereo 7.38/7.56Mhz, it marked a rapid decline in listenership to 1440kHz/208m MW as people with Sky satellite dishes in the UK and with non-Sky systems across Europe noticed R.Luxembourg via the Astra satellite in better quality and decided to listen in.

Yep that brings back memories especially the first two jingles, they are written in my memory. Unlike here the sound was then going up and down on the AM, with peeps and tweaks in between but oh so great listening to the great 208. Getting goose bumbs thinking about it. It was priceless !!!!!

Yes, absolutly, we feel the same, every night listening Mike Hollis and other great DJs and loved all the songs they played! Still missing them alot. A jsme z Prahy :)))))

I have a tape of the last day Luxy was tranmitting on the mighty 1440 switching to the Astra satellite. It was in the ending of 1992. I may put it on youtube for all the nostalgic fans of radio Luxembourg.
