You should understand something, that she has a borrowed Classical acoustic guitar. That's why she's using her thumb for the low E string. The neck is too wide. Why she just didn't use the two Taylors that she has, i don't know. She is really great though, and yes pretty too.

If you have only been messing with this for a few days, you are off to a good start. I was listening to several versions on this and grew up with it. This is not a simple song to play, Guitarists from the classical field as well as the likes of Steve Howe, and Steve Hackett, Stuart Tindall, Edgar Cruz and many of the best. @jambub Using your thumb can sometimes be useful but not necessary, if I was a guitar teacher I'd would tell my student in the beginning to defiantly not use their thumb so they don't rely on that and create bad habits and technique and introduce it to them later. Tommy Emennual uses his thumb sometimes and he's one of the best guitarist I've seen, and he did a awesome cover of Classical gas.
