Okay, this is bothering me. People complain because S.Darko isn't very similar to Donnie Darko. Isn't that a good thing? It's very different. You can view them as two separate movies. It didn't ruin the first movie (like a lot of sequels do) because the storylines aren't directly related and S.Darko didn't COPY the first movie. It's DIFFERENT. So stop complaining! You should be HAPPY that it's nothing like Donnie Darko.

Unless it's part of, say, a trilogy, Sequels do not need to be made. Ever. Donny Darko was devoid of Hollywood bullshit. Only Hollywood is willing to make sequels, and they do it for reasons that (once again) bastardize the original film: revenue.
