  • Great horse, really special. But the immortal Niatross transcended time and I'd have to think he would have ripped SBSW a new one, had they met. Just a reminder, Niatross went 1:49 in 1980 for Gods sake.

  • A great horse indeed but in America they use lasics, Race over the mile, Race on a mile track, And race for more money then in Australia. Yet still Smoken Up ran 1:48:5 this year and The immortal Blacks A Fake is the richest pacer in history with nearly $4.5 million in earnings. And won our richest race the which is run over 3 week with 3 heats ( 1 each week) 4 times and came a 2nd and a 3rd so to be at the top of your game for 6 years is unbelievable!!! His the greatest pacer of all time

  • @TheBlacksAfake No just stop, If somebeachsomewhere kept racing into his 4, 5, and 6 year old years he would have made well over 5 million dollars and probably gone in 1:45:4. Also he doesnt use lasix, so that is totally irrelevant. He lost one fluke race in his life. Greatest pacer ever

  • he is nothing special he races old hacks if he wasnt on lasix and bute aussie horses would cream him

  • @karloomick Crickey, have another Fosters, you embittered fool. Comparing your racing to North Americas is like saying a gokart could beat an f1....TWO words 4ya: Auckland Reactor! ....oh, and scoreboard!

  • what a horse!!

  • well lets see niatross had probably 30 extra pounds just in equipment between the bike and harness alone..the red mile back then was also much more clay then it is now..not near as fast as it is now ...id give him 3 to 4 seconds just for that and I like clint galbrath but he is an average driver that happened to have the best horse ever so i would give him another second if he had a qaulity driver as well..My prediction Niatross by 5 lengths

  • The scary part is that at that point in the season he wasnt as sharp as he had been earlier. In the Meadowlands Pace he went in 1:47 in a much rougher trip.

  • @abetts00 you do know that it was 29 degrees c on meadowlands pace night, and that it was -2 degrees c on this night, 48.3 in below freezing is amazing last quarter in 26.3, seriously give your head a shake.

Furthermore horses don't retire any sounder than Beach did, Hanover vets were amazed at his condition.

  • It's too bad he didn't race at 4!!!! Sad not to see talent stay on for awhile.

  • Considering Niatross ran the times of today 30 years ago. Put him in a race today he'd probably run in the 1:41.3 range.

  • @Tampaslice

    You got that right!

  • @Tampaslice I have to agree with you on your comment. There are some cheap 3k claiming thoroughbreds up @ Finger Lakes Race track that can't break a 1:43 mile and it would have been so cool to see Niatross beat a Thoroughbred and it could still be possible if another Niatross type comes into our lives again.

    Best of luck to you.

  • I het horde racing its so shit

  • i have the pleasure of meeting his father briefly. (just before retirement). I knew his groom and spent a lot of time around the stable mach was at. This colt reminds me of his father, in every pic of him racing he's floating. Also like his father he's a true winner!! Yay for somebeachesomewhere!!! Yay for Mach Three!!! Well done!

  • i love this horse, best pacer out there

  • Greatest pacer Ever, No question about it! If he would have comeback as a 4 year old he would have paced in 1:45 and change!

  • @howardm74

...and then you woke up, right?

Niatross would of took him out behind the woodshed.

The track surfaces are setup so differently now. The Red Mile is such a joke. It reminds me of the autobahn with 18" think concrete for a track surface.

  • @DBJKAJ Its so hard to compare horses from different eras. I love niatross and loved his greatness. Comparing Somebeachsomewhere and niatross is like comparing Muhhamd Ali to mike tyson both in there primes.

  • @howardm74 Good statement. It is very difficult to compare generations as when the Big M made a change in tack surfaces in 1985 or so and 20,000 claimers were pacing in 1:152 and change...totally unheard of for that caliber horse.Throw times out the window these days because Stan Bergstein told me that Bret Hanover was the greatest ever. Look at his record and times for when he raced, hard to argue with. He ran 1:55 in 1965 and went 35 for 35 in 1964.

  • @howardm74 or faster

  • will be interested to see what he does as a sire...right now hes the best ever...but if hes a dud as a stud then it wont matter ...i dont think he will be but you never know until the babies hit the track...the most intriguing match up and the potential greatest race horse ever will be the offspring of SBSW and Rainbow Blue

  • best standardbred ever

  • best equipment ever

  • On the track yes. Lets hope he can be a super sire.

  • who knows, we'll have to wait a few years and see. he will definitely get the best mares in the first crop

  • @nickrock23 It is difficult to compare horses of different generations, but nevertheless, I would Niatross the edge.

  • Shouldn't this video be 1 minute and 47 seconds?

  • thats fast. that what my horse Cowboy Jack used to do. i cant find any videos of him racing. any suggestions

  • wow!
