I don't use sulfate shampoos anymore. I use a sulfate free shampoo (Burt's Bees Very Volumizing) anywhere between twice or one time a week, sometimes even every 2 weeks. I shower everyday, but I just don't use shampoo, I use conditioner to wash it. My hair is so much healthier and shiny, and less frizzy. Then again, I was previously washing with sulfates only twice a week. It is a big leap from sulfate shampooing everyday for 13 years of my life, and in just six months I went from daily sulfate
Did u have hair loss alot of the coloring being done, because i color my hair and i have a bald spot and i have very thin hair before i ever put color in I had very thick hair. And if u did have hair loss from the chemicals did the hair grow back?
Yeah! That happened to me too! I used the shampoo and conditioner right after I got it, and my scalp was covered in dandruf crap! I hate that stuff a lot for my type of hair, which is curly and thick. But ya, I thought it was just me. few. Ok, I feel better now, thnx! :)
@Pippylockstocking I never said shampoo generally caused dandruff. Dandruff and "flaking" are not necessarily the same thing and I probably used the words interchangeably when I shouldn't have. And my scalp WAS dry, as it wasn't just flaking, but also itched slightly and it was caused by these products, as I said in the video, because I didn't have this problem prior to using these products and haven't that problem since I've stopped using them, but thank you for the input.
Thanks for sharing. I am working on using the sulfate free shampoos after I finish my current products. I would love to try the Wen product but it cost too much so I am looking for a simular product that has gr8 quality but cheaper. I am black but I still color my hair with rinses so I want to keep the color in as long as I can. It can get tiring when you do it yourself but I dotn have to pay the middle man. B.) Have you tried Wen products?
hm thinking about buying this not only because its sulfate-free but because the ,,bottle" is soo cool^^ expecially the 750ml... all white. im weird i always buy stuff because it looks good :D
Great review here I am currently useing pureolgy it's been about the fourth day and I now am getting dandruff which I have never had before . Not happy about spending the money that I did and my scalp is paying a price . However my friend uses pureolgy herself and she has beautiful hair so I guess to each is own.
I've been using sulfate free products for a while now and I've noticed a significant decrease in my dandruff issues and my hair is softer. Sorry this didn't work out for you hon. Maybe you should try a different sulfate free product, I found one at CVS that was like 8 bucks. I think it was called Naked Naturals
I started using a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner about 4 months ago and I love it. The kind I use is Loreal Ever Pure Sulfate Free Color Care System Volume Shampoo and Conditioner since I have thin fine hair. I had the same issue with trying to use too much shampoo. It still does lather up but no where near the way other products did.
I try using other shampoos/conditioners, but I keep going back to Frederic Fekkai's
'Glossing' line. The best tip I ever got was to apply conditioner onto the scalp, liberally, if you have dry skin. Since I started doing that (and using the FF 'Glossing'), my hair/scalp look and feel AWESOME. You should try them. :)
I have ordered the Wen products and decided to try Sally's Hair One while waiting for it to arrive (they have trial packets..yaay) I do love the results!!! I would love to try this one as well. Loving the sulfate free thing!
I change shampoo everytime i'm out :p I like change.. Conditioner.. hmm ive got a big ol'bottle of Syoss right now, I dont rlly use conditioner everyday I hat the way it makes my hair "fall" veryveryverrrryyyy flat.
I have used Pureology and loved it. I just stopped because it's too expensive for me and I just figured my mom's a hairdresser so I just let her tell me when I need to use better products. Also the L'Oreal ones are good. She did like them and you can get them at most places.
sulfates are also found in most toothpastes and can cause pretty severe canker sores. I haven't had a single canker sore since switching to a sulfate-free toothpaste. Of course I am unusually sensitive to alot of different chemicals and my reaction was probably not a common one. On a sidenote could you please review the grow lucious mascara by revlon :)
Sodium lauryl sulfate makes my scalp break out. I have had break outs (not acne) on my scalp for many years.
So when I heard about the issues with sodium lauryl sulfate about a year ago I switched over to the Ever Pure line from L'Oreal. I'm so glad I switched. I haven't had problems with my scalp since.
What camera model do you use? I'm looking for something affordable to film tutorials/reviews with... And about what you said a few days ago about not doing tutorials, it'll be awesome to watch you apply some of the products you review, because a little demonstration goes a long way :-) not complaining about what you already do! Just some food for thought... I think you have a lot to contribute :-)
I'm 17 and my hair is exactly like yours WAS. It's gross and dry and damaged and i've been trying every shampoo, conditioner, and drugstore treatment that i can find. I have what feels like an addiction to dying my hair i simply cannot stop. I try to give it a break every once in awhile but it never seems like a long enough break. Do you perhaps have any suggestions on what i can do to help my hair feel healthier ASAP? my prom is comnig up soon and i don't want nasty hair for prom :(
@lilvamp10808 It sounds like you should seek out the advice of a professional stylist. If nothing else has worked for you, that's really all I can suggest.
Hey Irene my name is Jewl and ive commented u a few times, im sure yoir very busy but if ever u get a spare moment and take a look at my one and only video? Its pretty pathetic and would love your thoughts on how to improve. I am a pro M.U.A but i am a mess on camera. If u would please be so kimd bevause your videos are so well put together and excellant Thanks Pinki
I was just about to mention Purology!! Haha I don't use it but a few family members use it and LOVE it because of the silky softness, the only problem... Is the price tag *sigh* I don't need it (I use curly stuff) but I hear great things; I love your reviews, very thorough. I totally agree on the scent-Tigi is AH-MAZING for scenting their products I use foxy curls sulfate free and it smells... Like skittles and vanilla x___x AMAZING
I cannot say enough good things about the alba pineapple hair wash. It's moisturizing, smells DEE-VIE-YUN, and at $6-8 a bottle at walmart, and don't feel like I'm being wasteful when I use a ton of it. For conditioner, I use Fructis Color Shield (not store brand which doesn't have the UV filters) on the top layer of my hair and the Fructis Hair Mask on the ends every time I wash my hair.
neat video. i stopped using shampoo with chemicals and use the chagrin valley shampoo bars. i've seen a great difference in my hair and especially how long the color lasts (i dye my hair red).
You should try the organix coconut milk anti-breakage serum its done wonders on my hair. =) My hair looks so healthy. Its pretty cheap and you can find it at the drugstores for like 8 bucks.
omg, I have this Aquage shampoo and conditioner. i didn't even know it was sulfate free, and felt that same texturizing effect..and not lathering..i was thinking wtf? lol
Interesting review! I have thick curly hair that can get dry and frizzy looking at times. My favorites are Kiehl's Protein Concentrate Shampoo for Normal to Dry Hair (feels very slippery, but not greasy, if that makes sense), followed by Bumble & Bumble Super Rich conditioner. I always go back to these products! Very moisturizing.
I use David Babai Shampoo which is color safe, sulfate free, and paraben free. I love it, but I didn't use it to specifically for my color treated hair, but becuase it is sulfate free. Generally, you use sulfate free shampoo because sulfates are so bad for not only your hair, but your whole body. I don't find my shampoo drying at all, so maybe it was just the brand you were using.
Great review. Thanks. Btw red dyes always bleed out. if you wash with colder hair they hold better. but they will always fade in color especially if you use the boxed kind. :) its something about the pigment. people always ask me how I keep mine red but mine is natural so i just give them tips to keep the red color in, i learned form my mom who is a stylist.
Hey! Could you pleaseee do a review on the Covergirl smokeyshadow blasts? I'm dying to try them but I want to know if it's worth it first!:) thanks for all of you're videos they are sooo helpful!!!
if you still use moroccan oil, you should probably stop! my mom works at a salon, and she said they got a memo about moroccan oil, and apparently it lightens hair, and strips it of dark colour.
you having red hair, it'll strip youor hair of colour extremely quickly
@Danielleexx ..i also heard that it makes blonde hair turn brassy. i have blonde hair and i use moroccan oil..but i havent really noticed a difference. but i heard they were trying to make a new formula to prevent this from happening...maybe itll be better..?
Your hair always looks fabulously healthy do you use a heat protectant and if so what one is your favorite? (sorry if you have already answered this:))
Oh my gawd. I smelt the S Factor shampoo & conditioner for colour-treated hair and it smells like delicious pear/grape candy. yum! wish i could afford this. haha
I color my hair too... natural dark brown and I love adding red to may hair. I use TRESemme Anti-Breakage and really like it. My hair is soft and manageable plus I got the big bottle (32 FL OZ) at wal-mart for 3.00 and with 2 kids I don't have the money for salon brands.
this could not have come at a better time. i was looking at it today during my salon consultation, and i was going to go back tomorrow to colour my hair and was going to buy this!
