I was there in 84 and all it is is a bunch of over rated classic and race cars that get judged on specks of dirt, or some little thing that dont mattrer.
Man you look at this video and then you see new cars like the One-77, Panamera, R8, SLR Moss, Veyron (from 0:4...) and the you look and the old timers, Ferrari (0:43), Porsche Panamerica (1:19) and mainly McQueen's great 917.. and then you ask yourself a question: Either the Engineers from the 60's and 70's were so advanced from their time, either we didn't make much progress in car designing... Because man, I'll take that Red Ferrari (A TestaRoss 57?) or that 917 before any new Veyron or R8...
The Gulf colored 908 and #20 (the SteveMcQueen 917) are both owned by Seinfeld. Additionally, he is one of the few to own a 959 and a 550. He's kind of a Porsche nut.
I am sorry, but I will never drive a 917. It would be a thrill. I would have to buy one to drive it, because noone in their right mind would let me sit in that cockpit if I didn't own the car. I did see it last year in Monterey at the Historics. I have heard this car do an engine check. It is awesome. But, you could do a whole lot of good in the world in addition to "driving this car". There is more to life than driving a car.
I want that car so badly.

I think people other than Americans refer to it as a Porsche "Nine-One-Seven", not a "NIne-Seventeen". Am I mistaken?
BTW I have the red/yellow 917-10 as a Fly 1/32 scale slotcar.

Thanks, beautiful. I love the early 60's 4-liter Testarossa (what year?) at 45 seconds into the video. That 917 is awesome
